VARANASI: In a head-on collision between two trucks, two people, including the driver and helper, lost their lives late Thursday night. The accident occurred near Navdhan village on the national highway in the Unj police station area of Bhadohi district.

One truck was loaded with batteries, while the other was carrying onions. The collision was so severe that the front part of one truck was completely destroyed. The driver and helper of the other truck fled from the scene.
After the incident, a traffic jam occurred on the highway. Upon receiving the information, the in-charge inspector of Unj, Ramakant Yadav, arrived at the scene, cleared the jam, and sent both bodies for post-mortem.

Both male and female cops have been assigned duties to maintain surveillance in and around temple premises." Meanwhile, scores of kanwariyas on Sunday left for Varanasi to offer jalabhishek to Lord Shiv amidst chanting 'Har Har Mahadev' and 'Bol Bam'. Noted religious scholar Dr Amitabh Gour told TOI, "The third Somvar of the Shrawan month is a day of fasting and worship dedicated to Lord Shiv.
