Caught on camera: Lucknow milkman seen spitting in milk before delivery, detained
The incident, which unfolded in Lucknow's Gomti Nagar locality, has sparked renewed concern over food hygiene violations in the state.
According to police officials, the accused—identified as Mohammad Sharif, also known as Pappu—was caught after a resident of Vinay Khand, Lav Shukla, reviewed security footage from a CCTV camera installed outside his house.
The video purportedly shows Sharif spitting into the milk moments before handing it over. Shukla immediately approached the Gomti Nagar police station to file a formal complaint.
"The accused has been detained. He is being questioned about the incident. Further action is underway," Station House Officer (SHO) Brijesh Tiwari told news agency PTI.

Repeat offences draw government scrutiny
The incident comes amid a string of similar cases reported across Uttar Pradesh in the past year, prompting the state government to crack down on food adulteration involving human waste or other contaminants.
In September, a teenager in Saharanpur was caught on video allegedly spitting on rotis at an eatery, triggering public outrage and the arrest of the shop owner.
In separate incidents in Ghaziabad and Noida, juice vendors were arrested for allegedly mixing urine or saliva into drinks before serving them to unsuspecting customers.
Following these reports, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered sweeping measures to prevent food tampering, including mandatory CCTV installation in eateries, stricter hygiene standards for food handlers, and the display of names and contact information of all owners and managers at food outlets.
Yogi also called for amendments to the Food Safety and Standards Act to ensure stricter enforcement.
