Ederson fielding eye-watering financial offers from Saudi Arabia and Turkey

Yahoo5 days ago
Manchester City's mainstay number one goalkeeper is weighing up blockbuster financial proposals from both Saudi Arabia and Turkey, it has been reported.
This is not the first time Ederson has been linked with a potential move away from the Etihad Stadium, after the Brazilian was subject to serious interest from Saudi clubs last summer, but ultimately remained in Manchester for the 2024/25 season.
With just one full season remaining on his current contract and a potential long-term successor reportedly identified — with FC Porto's Diogo Costa heavily linked in recent weeks — the situation around Ederson's future is reaching a new level of intensity.
Despite having completed eight full seasons at City, winning every major honour in the game including the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup, Ederson is now considering a lucrative final chapter to his career.
The 32-year-old's stature, experience, and distribution continue to attract top-level interest from across Europe and the Middle East, and with one eye perhaps on one last challenge at the top of the game, a move could appeal given the proposals reportedly emerging.
According to the latest information provided by Fanatik journalist Yakup Çınar, as translated by Sport Witness, Galatasaray and an unnamed Saudi Arabian club have now made moves for the Manchester City goalkeeper.
Çınar claims that a massive offer has come in from a club in the Saudi Pro League, but if the Brazil international were to ultimately sign for Galatasaray then he would be looking for a salary of €15 million a season.
The Turkish journalist said: 'Galatasaray made contact with Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson last week through Gardi. There is an offer of €25 million per year for the player from Arabia. He is demanding a salary of €15 million from Galatasaray.'
From the side of the UEFA Champions League-positioned club, it has been widely reported in recent weeks that Galatasaray are looking to a sign an experienced new number one choice goalkeeper after Fernando Muslera left for Uruguay last month.
From City's perspective, Ederson's potential exit would open the door to a new chapter, with Diogo Costa continuing to emerge as the club's primary replacement. The 25-year-old Portugal international is admired for his own ball-playing ability and composure under pressure.
City also retain Stefan Ortega, who has deputised effectively throughout his time at the club to date. However, the German himself has drawn interest from Bundesliga clubs and may not be content with a long-term backup role, should City pursue a marquee addition in goal.
Ederson's exit would mark a shift in leadership dynamic of the dressing room. The Brazilian has been a quiet but consistent figure across multiple title-winning campaigns, forming a critical part of the defensive backbone alongside Ruben Dias, Kyle Walker, and John Stones.
There is also the broader financial consideration; Ederson remains one of the club's highest earners, and should a sizeable fee be received from either Saudi Arabia or Turkey, City could look to reinvest in multiple squad areas.
No decision has yet been made, and it remains unclear whether Manchester City would sanction a move without a clear replacement. But the scale of the offers involved, particularly from the Gulf region, suggest a genuine crossroads has been reached in Ederson's career.

Silva comeback in Bremen?

In what can only be seen as a surprising move, Werder Bremen are reportedly working on the comeback of André Silva! 'The way the loan went, neither side certainly imagined it would turn out this way,' said Werder Bremen's head of licensing Peter Niemeyer to Kicker magazine in May, referring to André Silva. The RB Leipzig centre-forward spent the second half of last season with the Green-Whites, but only made eight appearances and scored one goal in 422 minutes of play. Nevertheless, both sides could try again: The news outlet 'Deichstube' say Bremen are interested in Silva, because he 'fits in well with the ideas' of new head coach Horst Steffen. There has been intensive communication between the parties with positive signals. The striker is said to be open to a return to Bremen and is also willing to take a pay cut. Nevertheless, a transfer is not yet certain, which is why SVW is considering other options for the striker position as well.

Yoane Wissa wants to play for Newcastle United, but refuses to continue with Brentford.

Getty Images Press reports close to Newcastle United have revealed that the English club is close to signing one of the Premier League's most prominent attacking players, Yoane Wissa, who plays as a striker. In a dramatic development, Daily Mail's Craig Hope reveals Yoane Wissa has officially severed ties with Brentford, declaring he won't represent the club again. The Congolese attacker's forceful stance delivers a significant advantage to Newcastle United, who have been persistently pursuing the 28-year-old forward. Since arriving at the Community Stadium in 2021, Wissa's career trajectory has shown remarkable progression. Initially struggling to cement a starting role, the versatile attacker has transformed into one of Thomas Frank's most reliable performers in recent seasons, making his current standoff with the Bees particularly noteworthy. This bold move from Wissa accelerates Newcastle's long-standing interest, potentially paving the way for a swift resolution to the transfer saga as the Magpies look to bolster their attacking options. Newcastle are actively pursuing attacking reinforcements, with Yoane Wissa emerging as their prime target. The Congolese forward represents both short-term depth and potential long-term solution, capable of deputizing for Alexander Isak or potentially replacing him should the Swede depart. Sources indicate advanced negotiations on personal terms with the 28-year-old, who has formally requested his Brentford exit. Wissa claims the club previously agreed to sanction his departure at a reasonable fee - a promise he now expects them to honor. While Brentford recognize their player's desire to join Newcastle, talks have stalled over the £50m+ valuation. With the deal at an impasse, Newcastle have begun exploring backup options as contingency planning. The situation remains fluid, but Wissa's public stance has undeniably strengthened Newcastle's bargaining position.

Liverpool ‘agree' Luis Diaz transfer with Bayern Munich

Liverpool have reportedly agreed a deal to sell Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window. The left winger has been eager to secure an exit out of Anfield ahead of next season, with the Bundesliga champions chasing his signature in recent weeks. Bayern had their opening offer in the region of £58.5m (€67m) turned down by the Reds, but returned with a second bid, said to be worth around £69m (€80m). Liverpool 'agree' Luis Diaz transfer with Bayern Munich Their persistence has seemingly paid off, with multiple reports claiming Liverpool have accepted the Bavarian outfit's latest approach. The Athletic and Sky Sports News both report that the total fee comes to £65.5m (€75m). Diaz has been given permission to leave Liverpool's pre-season training camp in Tokyo to complete the move and sign a four-year contract, with the option for a further year. Liverpool were unwilling to sell one of their key players, but the Colombia international forced their hand by insisting on a move away. He had two years left to run on his contract. Arne Slot confirmed that Diaz was left out of Saturday's pre-season friendly defeat to AC Milan due to the speculation surrounding his future. 'There's a lot of rumours around him lately and I cannot go into that,' the head coach told LFC TV. 'He's training well with us but we have decided, for now, not to play him yet. 'I'm used to talking to most of my players on a regular basis. Like I said, Lucho is training really well and we've decided that he's not playing at the moment in the games. I cannot comment much more about that.' Barcelona also made an approach for Diaz in June, but Liverpool turned them down. They instead signed Marcus Rashford on loan with an obligation to buy from Manchester United. Read – See Also – Follow The Football Faithful on Social Media: | | | |
