Pop star Robbie Williams named as new Fifa Music Ambassador
He has co-written a new song, Desire, which will be played before Fifa tournaments and matches worldwide to accompany players as they walk on to the pitch.
The song will debut at the Club World Cup's opening match being held in Miami on Saturday, before being used in all upcoming tournaments including the 2026 World Cup.
Williams said: 'Music and football bring people together like nothing else — each with their own universal language of connection, emotion, spirit and community.
'When those worlds come together, there's nothing like it — and I'm beyond honoured to be the Fifa Music Ambassador.
'Football and music have both been part of my life for as long as I can remember, so this means a lot to me on a personal level.
Williams provided the theme song for the Fifa 2000 video game, It's Only Us, on the condition that his favourite team Port Vale were included in the game.
The new anthem, which was co-written with Karl Brazil, Owen Parker and Erik Jan Grob, features the Italian singer Laura Pausini.
The track will be accompanied by a new video which will be shown for the first time at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium.
Williams added: 'I've grown up watching the walk-outs, the anthems, the drama – so writing and recording the official Fifa anthem is a real privilege.
'I wanted to create something that captures all of it — the passion, the nerves, the pride and the majesty of that feeling just before kick-off.
'Football and music have always meant the world to me, and bringing them together on this kind of stage gives me goosebumps.
'I know I'll get to perform this song at some of my favourite tournaments in the coming years, which fills me with excitement. It's a real honour that Laura Pausini accepted my invitation to feature on the song – she's an incredible artist with the perfect voice.'
Pausini, 51, rose to fame after winning the 1993 newcomer artists' section of the Sanremo Music Festival, one of the biggest and longest running song contests in Italy, with her song, La Solitudine.
The singer, who has released Italian and Spanish albums, won a Grammy in 2006 for Best Latin Pop Album and was also nominated for an Oscar in 2020 for best original song with Io si/Seen.
She added: 'The song is amazing, really touching. It's a dream to be with him for the Fifa Club World Cup. Since I was a little girl growing up in Italy I remember the thrill and passion for football in my home country.
'To be able to perform live with Robbie Williams in front of passionate football fans and to be heard by music fans around the world will be truly amazing.'
It comes as Williams completes the UK leg of his tour which will then continue with concerts in Ireland, Spain and Italy.
His new album Britpop is due to be released this autumn.

England Women vs Italy Women Euro 2025 prediction, odds and betting offer
England Women continue to impress in the tournament as they look to secure back-to-back final appearances at the European Championships The Lionesses continue their defence of the European title as they prepare to face Italy in Geneva tonight. After a nerve-jangling victory against Sweden, England's Lionesses are gearing up for a pivotal Euro semi-final against Italy in Geneva on Tuesday. The defending champions showed true grit, overturning a two-goal deficit thanks to standout performances from Lucy Bronze and Michelle Agyemang. Over seven million viewers watched as England edged past Sweden in a penalty shootout, keeping hopes alive for consecutive European crowns. This latest triumph means Sarina Wiegman's squad have now reached the last four at six major tournaments running—a testament to their consistency at the top level. Their route to this stage was anything but easy, with a chaotic quarter-final that tested nerves and resilience. Looking ahead, England will feel confident facing an Italian side ranked seven places below Sweden. The Lionesses are unbeaten in their last five encounters with Italy—winning four, including a commanding 5–1 result earlier this year in Spain. Italy arrive at this stage enjoying their strongest Euros campaign since finishing runners-up in 1997. Their path has been less convincing: only one group stage win against Belgium and a dramatic late goal to see off Norway in the quarters. That victory marked just their second knockout-stage success at a major tournament since their heyday nearly three decades ago. With history on their side and momentum building, England will be favourites to progress. However, Italy's recent resilience suggests they can't be underestimated. Both teams know what's at stake—a place in the final and a shot at glory on Europe's biggest stage. Hearts sign winger Sabah Kerjota from Serie C side Sambenedettese
Hearts have signed Albanian winger Sabah Kerjota from Italian side Sambenedettese. The 23-year-old has moved to Tynecastle on a three-year deal, subject to international clearance and Scottish FA approval. He joins Derek McInnes' squad from Italy's third tier after scoring 10 goals to help Sambenedettese to the Serie D title last season. The Hearts head coach says he is pleased to add Kerjota to his side ahead of the new season. McInnes said: 'I'm pleased that we've been able to bring Sabah in to give us more options on the wings. 'He's had a really productive few seasons in Italy and although Scottish football will be a new experience for him, we've seen attributes that we feel can make him a success here. 'Sabah will need to do a bit of fitness work to bring him up to speed, but I'm looking forward to seeing him on the pitch once he's ready.' Edu working on transfer for Arsenal target he repeatedly failed to sign for Mikel Arteta
Edu is trying to sign Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz for Nottingham Forest, having failed with moves for the Brazilian on a few occasions when he was at Arsenal Nottingham Forest are leading the race to sign Douglas Luiz from Juventus after he rejected moves to other Premier League sides. Juventus only signed Luiz from Aston Villa last summer but they are now desperate to offload the Brazilian midfielder. The Italian giants coughed up £42.35million to sign Luiz from Villa before handing him a five-year contract. Villa only parted company with the 27-year-old to comply with profit and sustainability rules after he enjoyed an outstanding 2023/24 season. Luiz is now trying to secure a move back to the Premier League after a miserable and injury-hit first campaign in Turin. He started just three Serie A matches for Juve last season, with 16 substitute appearances only getting him up to 518 minutes in the league. Juve are now trying to get rid of him and striker Dusan Vlahovic in order to make room for new arrivals, including Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho. And it seems that Forest global head of football Edu could hold the key to the potential deal. Edu surprisingly announced his decision to move on from Arsenal in November, having spent five years working at the Gunners alongside Mikel Arteta. He was responsible for the signings of players like Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice – but one player he didn't manage to land was Luiz. However, Gazzetta dello Sport now says that Edu is once again leading the push to sign Luiz, this time for Forest. Luiz has turned down Fulham and Leeds and now his agent, Kia Joorabchian, is flying to London to speak with interested parties. Tuttosport now reports that Everton are in the mix with Forest, while West Ham and Manchester United have previously explored a deal for him. With Luiz still having four years left on his deal with Juventus, a straight transfer appears unlikely. But the Old Lady are reportedly happy to accept an initial loan with the obligation to buy. Last week, West Ham were reported to have offered a €10m (£8.67m) loan deal with an option to buy for around €30m (£26m). That was turned down because Juve want an obligation to buy, rather than an option. Luiz is not in Igor Tudor's plans for the 2025/26 season after missing 20 matches last season through injury while underwhelming when he did play. Edu doesn't seem concerned as he continues chasing the midfielder. Edu and Arteta were convinced that Luiz could become a key player in north London if they could poach him from Villa. They tried on more than one occasion to prise him away from Unai Emery, but were unsuccessful as he spent five seasons with the Birmingham club. It seems he has a better chance this time around, with Forest – unlike Everton or United – able to offer him European football next season.
