HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani extended his greetings to citizens and residents of Qatar, as well as to Arab and Islamic nations, on the advent of Eid Al Adha on Friday.
In a post on his X account, Sheikh Tamim prayed to Almighty God to return the Eid to Qatar's citizens and residents, as well as to the Arab and Islamic nations with goodness, blessings, and prosperity.
HH The Amir then received Eid Al Adha well-wishers at the Lusail Palace.
Following Eid prayer, Sheikh Tamim received Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Shura Council Speaker HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, Their Excellencies Sheikhs, Ministers, Undersecretaries, members of the Shura Council, and citizens.
He also welcomed senior officers from the Qatar Armed Forces, the Ministry of Interior, and various security services, along with heads of departments and national institutions. HH the Amir also received heads of diplomatic missions in Qatar.
The reception was attended by the Personal Representative of HH the Amir HH Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani and HE Sheikh Jassim bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Earlier in the day, Sheikh Tamim performed Eid Al Adha prayers, alongside several top officials and ministers, among others, at the Lusail Prayer Ground.
The Eid sermon was delivered by Dr Yahya Butti Al Nuaimi, who highlighted that Eid is a day of remembrance, joy, and gratitude. He noted that it coincides with the sacred rites of Hajj, the blessed ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, and the virtuous fast of the Day of Arafah.
Dr Al Nuaimi stressed that gratitude is among the noblest acts of worship, one that God has enjoined upon His prophets, and that true gratitude involves expressing God's blessings through one's words, heart, and actions in full acknowledgment, submission, and obedience to the Almighty.
He further explained that offering the Eid sacrifice is a manifestation of this gratitude and a deed that yields immense reward and virtue.
In conclusion, Dr Al Nuaimi emphasized that Eid is a time when souls are purified from base desires and hearts are cleansed of falsehood, hypocrisy, and resentment. He affirmed that the greatest form of Eid is the liberation of the besieged in Gaza from oppression, blockade, and longstanding hostility, as well as the emancipation of the courtyards and surroundings of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

NYC's free summer meal program offers halal food, without listing kosher options
The city Department of Education's summer meal program for NYC youths boasts a variety of halal options at more than 25 locations citywide, but kosher food 'must be specially ordered,' officials told The Post. Free breakfasts and lunches will be served at hundreds of locations – schools, pools, libraries and parks – for anyone up to 18 years old, including all students from both public and private schools. 'You don't need to sign up, show any papers, or have an ID to get these meals,' the DOE says. 'Just head to one of our spots and enjoy a delicious breakfast and lunch.' Halal food – permissible for Muslims to eat under Islamic law – is available for the taking by anyone who shows up at the listed locations. Kosher food, for observant Jewish kids, is not mentioned on the DOE website. 4 DOE food worker Maria Gonzalez said she gave out 100 meals from a food truck in Haffen Park in the Bronx on the first day of the free summer meal program Friday. J.C. Rice Only when asked by The Post, the DOE said kosher meals 'must be specially ordered, and they are only available upon request. However we do not currently have any applications for kosher meals.' The glaring omission angered some Jewish advocates. 'The DOE's clear promotion of halal options alongside silence on kosher meals highlights a gap that needs urgent attention,'' said Karen Feldman, a DOE teacher and co-founder of the NYCPS Alliance, which fights antisemitism in the city public schools. 'Jewish families who keep kosher deserve the same outreach to feel fully included in this important program.' 4 A DOE food truck gave out free summer breakfasts and lunches to youths in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. J.C. Rice A similar controversy erupted in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, when the City Council's Jewish Caucus demanded that Mayor De Blasio's DOE include kosher meals along with vegetarian and halal food for Muslims in its free meal program. The DOE does not track students by religion, but an estimated 10 percent of NYC public-school students, roughly 100,000, are Muslim. The number of Jewish kids in NYC public schools is unclear, but 105,776 K-12 students enrolled in private Jewish schools in 2024-2025, said Gabriel Aaronson, director of policy and research for the non-profit advocacy group Teach Coalition. Poverty and hunger plague many NYC Jews, among other groups. The Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty, which serves more than 325,000 clients, says it provides emergency food that meets the cultural and religious dietary needs of both kosher and halal-observant households. 4 Karen Feldman, a DOE teacher and co-founder of a group fighting antisemitism in public schools, faulted the city's free summer meal program's failure to list kosher meals for Jewish kids. Gregory P. Mango The DOE's summer menus offer a variety of halal options it says meet Islamic guidelines. For instance, a breakfast of egg and cheese on a buttermilk biscuit, home fries, and fresh fruit; and a lunch of chicken tenders with dipping sauce, garlic knot and corn. Other halal breakfasts include waffles, zucchini and banana bread, whole-grain bagels and buttermilk pancakes. Lunches feature pizza, mozzarella sticks, beef patties, falafel, chicken sandwiches, veggie burgers and empanadas. Kosher foods meet Jewish dietary laws, including restrictions on certain animals like pork and shellfish, separation of meat and dairy, and specific slaughtering and preparation methods. If ordered, the DOE said, a kosher breakfast would include a muffin, granola or cereal, plus yogurt, an apple, and milk. A lunch would consist of hummus, tuna or egg salad, whole wheat bread, grape tomatoes, apple and milk. 4 The DOE posted July summer meals with multiple halal options, but none for kosher food, angering some Jewish advocates. DOE Last week, the DOE would not detail its preparation or purchase of halal and kosher foods. 'We are thrilled that our summer meals program is returning this year, making sure that our youngest New Yorkers are fed and nourished,'said DOE spokeswoman Jenna Lyle. Funding for the summer meal program comes out of the DOE's yearly $600 million budget for all school food.

Trump denies reports US looking at $30B nuclear deal with Iran: ‘These people are SICK'
President Trump denounced reports that his administration is weighing a $30 billion deal with Iran that would allow for the development of civilian nuclear facilities — days after Trump said a deal with the Islamic republic may not be necessary. 'Who in the Fake News Media is the SleazeBag saying that 'President Trump wants to give Iran $30 Billion to build non-military Nuclear facilities.' Never heard of this ridiculous idea,' the president wrote late Friday on Truth Social. 'It's just another HOAX put out by the Fake News in order to demean. These people are SICK!!!' he added. The potential agreement was first reported by CNN citing multiple sources familiar with the matter. The outlet shared that details of the proposal were hashed out last week during a secret, hours-long meeting between Steve Witkoff, the U.S. special envoy to the Middle East, and partners in the Gulf. That plan was presented a day before the U.S. carried out its attack on Tehran's Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan nuclear facilities last week, per CNN. The president earlier Friday suggested he could retract previously imposed sanctions on Iran as the White House has maintained the U.S. military's strikes 'obliterated' the nation's nuclear capabilities. Trump also took a swing at Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, after the ayatollah said his nation was 'victorious.' 'During the last few days, I was working on the possible removal of sanctions, and other things, which would have given a much better chance to Iran at a full, fast, and complete recovery — The sanctions are BITING!' he wrote on Truth Social. 'But no, instead I get hit with a statement of anger, hatred, and disgust.' Trump, in the same post, said Khamenei should be grateful that the U.S. spared his life, citing Israel's 'regime change' goals. 'His Country was decimated, his three evil Nuclear Sites were OBLITERATED, and I knew EXACTLY where he was sheltered, and would not let Israel, or the U.S. Armed Forces, by far the Greatest and Most Powerful in the World, terminate his life,' he wrote. 'I SAVED HIM FROM A VERY UGLY AND IGNOMINIOUS DEATH, and he does not have to say, 'THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP!'' Dueling reports on how influential the U.S. strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities have emerged in recent days. Multiple outlets reported earlier this week that preliminary assessments from intelligence show the damage only delaying Tehran's program by a few months. Israel and the Trump administration have contended that the damage 'destroyed' it and have gone after news outlets for their coverage. Still, Trump has touted the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Iran — which has largely held up and said talks would proceed. He voiced optimism that the strikes have deterred Iran from continuing their nuclear program. 'The way I look at it, they fought the war is done. I could get a statement that they're not going to go nuclear. We're probably going to ask for that,' he said Wednesday, following the NATO Summit in the Netherlands. 'But they're not going to be doing it.' 'We're going to talk to them next week with Iran, we may sign an agreement. To me, I don't think it's necessary,' he said at the time. The president has also warned Tehran that he is not against more strikes should concerns rise again.

Who'll end Christian slaughter, grad schools will survive loan caps and other commentary
Foreign desk: Who'll End Christian Slaughter? 'On Friday June 13, over 500 Christians' were murdered by Islamic terrorists in Nigeria, reports The Free Press' Madeleine Kearns. 'The jihadists broke into homes and shelters, murdering people with machetes,' then 'doused their victims' bodies and homes in petrol and set them ablaze.' And, 'though exceptional in scale and barbarity,' it's just 'part of a pattern of persecution that Christians in Nigeria have come to expect.' Consider: 'Since 2009, Islamists' across Nigeria 'have destroyed over 18,000 churches,' 'murdered over 50,000 Christians' and displaced 'a further 5 million Christians.' Yet Western governments and media 'have turned away from the issue.' Will anyone move to stop the carnage? Libertarian: Grad Schools Will Survive Loan Caps Advertisement A provision in the Republican Big Beautiful Bill 'may make considerable inroads to correcting a decades-long student loan policy that has driven expensive programs and large debt burdens for students,' cheers Reason's Emma Camp. The House bill 'eliminates the Graduate PLUS loan program, which allows graduate students to borrow an unlimited sum of money from the government,' instead capping grad-student borrowing at $100,000, 'with a $150,000 limit for professional programs, and a lifetime cap of $200,000 for all students.' These caps could 'force colleges to lower their prices once their students no longer have access to an infinite pile of government money.' Indeed, If we want more affordable medical schools, 'the first step should involve actually incentivizing medical schools to stop overcharging students.' Conservative: Dems' NYC-led Coastal Elitism 'One interesting aspect of the rise of' socialist Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani 'is what it says about New York City's dominance of national Democratic politics at this moment,' muses the Washington Examiner's Byron York. 'The New York contingent essentially is the leadership of the Democratic Party today,' since congressional leaders Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer as well as stars Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders are all current or former New Yorkers. 'After the 2024 election, Democratic pollster Mark Penn wrote that Trump was elected by 'Americans who feel abandoned by the coastal elites and a Democratic Party that moved too far from mainstream America.'' 'There are probably a lot of things Democrats might do to broaden their appeal beyond the coastal areas, but' elevating Mamdani 'is definitely not one of them.' Advertisement Antisemitism beat: 'Kosherizing' Jew-Haters Just before New York's mayoral primary, late-night host Stephen Colbert's guests were Zohran Mamdani and City comptroller Brad Lander, notes Commentary's Seth Mandel. 'All three were there' to 'help elect Zohran Mamdani mayor.' Mamdani — 'the poster child for progressive anti-Zionism's conquest of the mainstream Democratic Party' — had defended the phrase 'globalize the intifada,' which calls for violence against Jews, and 'Colbert can be effective at shielding left-wing anti-Semites from criticism.' Then again, the TV host doesn't 'hold a candle in that department to Brad Lander': Indeed, the comptroller's 'alliance with Mamdani' is the 'culmination of years of Lander's efforts to kosherize anti-Semitism.' He's part of the story of 'the collapse of New York's Jewish-political establishment.' Sen. Chuck Schumer, who kissed 'Mamdani's ring,' is 'the capstone of this project.' From the right: Lefties' Chronic Mental Misery Advertisement Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) 'said last week that Donald Trump supporters are mentally ill,' but 'it's her side that is not well,' snarks the Issues & Insights editorial board. 'Nine in 10 conservatives self-report their mental health to be excellent (51%)' versus only 20% of liberals. Meanwhile, 'only 19% of conservatives say their mental health is poor, while 45% of liberals say they have poor mental health.' 'This is not a new development related to Trump returning to the White House. A decade ago, University of Toronto researchers similarly 'found that conservatives are more emotionally stable than liberals.' 'Democrats, progressives, socialists, anti-capitalists, and the rest who reside under the leftist umbrella are unhappy, and they want everyone else to be just as miserable as they are.' — Compiled by The Post Editorial Board
