April fools' joke backfires: Canadian employee fired after posting ‘this sticker' in washroom
A Canadian worker says she was unexpectedly fired over what she thought was a lighthearted April Fools' prank–despite getting a green light from the HR department. Sharing her side on Reddit, the former employee explained she put a sticker on a staff bathroom mirror that read, 'Employees must stop crying before returning to work.' According to her, it was meant as a harmless joke to boost morale, not offend anyone.
'I had joked about doing it beforehand,' she wrote, adding that HR had even suggested which bathroom to use. 'Everyone besides the boss knew what I was doing.'
But the following day, things took a turn. When she returned to work, her belongings had been moved, and a trip to her boss' office confirmed her fears. She said she immediately owned up to the prank and apologised: 'As a leader, I shouldn't have done that,' she recalled telling him. 'I knew immediately I was getting suspended for it.' But instead of a warning or suspension, she was fired on the spot.
Got fired because of a sticker.

The employee, who had been at the job for 10 months with no prior disciplinary issues, suspected the prank wasn't the real reason behind her dismissal. She mentioned an earlier disagreement with her boss about 'currency handling' that may have played a role. 'My heart is broken because a lot of the staff believed in me as a leader,' she said, adding that even her ex-boss shed a few tears during the final conversation, which she found surprising.
Wondering whether she has a case, she asked Reddit if it's worth approaching the labour board or if this is just a case of 'he said, she said.'
Redditors were divided on the issue. One noted, 'This is wild, we have these signs at work in the employee-only areas. No one cares.' Another user said, 'We had this in my bathroom at my old job, and it was my manager who put it up lol. We all thought it was hilarious.' But not everyone was sympathetic. One user said, 'Sounds like they were just tired of your moves.'

When will the Hockey Canada sexual assault verdict be delivered? Judge sets crucial July 24 date
Justice Maria Carroccia is set to deliver the verdict on July 24 in the Hockey Canada sexual assault trial (Getty Images) After nearly two months of intense testimony, legal arguments, and emotional revelations, the high-profile Hockey Canada sexual assault trial has officially concluded. Now, the spotlight shifts to July 24, the day Justice Maria Carroccia will deliver her long-awaited verdict that could reshape the lives and reputations of five NHL players and reignite national discussions around consent, power, and accountability in Canadian sports culture. Judge to deliver verdict in landmark case involving five NHL players on July 24 Michael McLeod, Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, Dillon Dubé, and Cal Foote each face charges of sexual assault stemming from a 2018 incident in a London, Ontario hotel room. The allegations, made by a woman referred to as E.M., claim the men engaged in non-consensual group sexual activity during a Hockey Canada event celebrating their World Junior Championship win. In her closing remarks, Crown attorney Meaghan Cunningham emphasized that E.M.'s compliance during the alleged acts should not be mistaken for consent. 'She's simply agreeing with him when he's making it clear what he wants her to say,' Cunningham said, referencing a video McLeod filmed where he allegedly coached E.M. into saying the sex was consensual. Cunningham and co-counsel Heather Donkers argued the defendants showed 'recklessness' and 'willful blindness,' particularly given E.M.'s by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 수완동 주민 대상 혜택! 청력 고민 있으시다면 무료로 보청기 체험 가능합니다 히어닷컴 Undo intoxication and vulnerability. 'Literally, any one of those men could have stood up and said, this isn't right. And no one did,' E.M. said in court. 'They didn't want to think about if I was actually OK or if I was actually consenting.' Defense attorneys for each player countered forcefully, attacking the Crown's legal reasoning and casting doubt on E.M.'s credibility. They argue she was the initiator of the group sex and later regretted the encounter, calling the case a result of 'tailored testimony' and a desire for civil compensation. After discharging two juries earlier in the proceedings, she now holds sole responsibility for the verdict. Controversial interview: X restores a/c of Indo-Canadian journalist
Toronto: The social media handle of a prominent Indo-Canadian journalist Sameer Kaushal was restored 72 hours after the platform X suspended it, following a post featuring an interview with a former pro-Khalistan extremist who alleged that Pakistan's spy agency had multiple agents in Canada and were covertly working with separatists targeting India. (Supplied photo) Those allegations were voiced by Jaswal Atwal, who was convicted in Canada for the attempted murder of visiting Punjab Minister Malkiat Singh Sidhu in Vancouver Island in 1986. He was interviewed by Kaushal, the founder-editor of the digital outlet News Derby. Hours later Kaushal received a notice from X that his personal account, where he had posted the video of the interview, had been suspended for violating its 'rules against authenticity'. 'As an independent journalist, I rely on X as a vital platform for exercising freedom of speech and for delivering factual, daring journalism to the community. There is a possibility that some powerful forces may have targeted my account due to my commitment to reporting the truth,' Kaushal said in a statement. 'This sudden suspension has come as a complete surprise and is deeply concerning, as my account serves as a significant platform for communication, information sharing, and engagement with my community,' he added. The handle was finally restored on Monday. Atwal has been a controversial character who was once a hardcore supporter of Khalistan but turned against separatism and was given visas to travel to India as part of the amnesty launched by the Government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015. Atwal was famously present at a reception hosted by the Canadian government in Mumbai for then Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during his visit to India in February 2018, a development which caused Ottawa serious embarrassment. Canada later blamed 'rogue elements' in the Indian government for subverting the visit, without explaining how they managed to plant Atwal at an invite-only event organised by the Canadian government. In its annual report to parliament for 2024, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) noted, 'Pakistan conducts foreign interference against Canada to promote political, security and economic stability in Pakistan and to counter India's growing global influence. Canada is an attractive foreign interference target due to its significant South Asian community and presence of groups who may be utilised as pro- Pakistan or anti-India proxies.' It added per its assessment 'Pakistan will continue to target various levels of government as well as ethnic, cultural and religious communities, specifically in relation to electoral nomination processes. They may also target media.' Testifying before the foreign interference commission in October last year, senior Canadian intelligence official Vanessa Lloyd said Pakistan was 'trying to reduce the influence of India'. She also said while foreign interference usually related to suppression of voices, it 'may also have the opposite effect in terms of amplifying other voices, and in this particular case, influence of Pakistan is directly related to support of Khalistani extremism'.

Super Smash Bros. pro Westballz slams Ludwig for 'enabling' Mang0's actions at Beerio Kart 2025
(Image via @LudwigAhgren/X & @WeshBallz/X) Super Smash Bros. veteran Weston 'Westballz' has sparked a major controversy by accusing Twitch streamer and Beerio Kart organizer Ludwig Ahgren of 'enabling' fellow pro Mang0 into a medical emergency. The incident stems from the latest Beerio Kart 2025 event, where Mang0's behavior under the influence shocked both attendees and viewers, and now, the spotlight is shifting. What Went Down at Beerio Kart 2025? Beerio Kart is an alcohol-fueled spin on Mario Kart where streamers compete while drinking — a chaotic but popular spectacle. This year, however, things took a darker turn. Mang0, visibly intoxicated, was caught behaving inappropriately around female streamers. One viral clip showed him pressing himself against Twitch streamer Maya Higa while holding plushies and cardboard cutouts — behavior that many deemed deeply uncomfortable and inappropriate. Westballz Blames Ludwig | Valkyrae on Mang0 Drunk Night Westballz 's Accusation Against Ludwig While Mang0's actions triggered widespread backlash, Westballz turned the heat toward Ludwig. In a now-viral post, he accused Ludwig of pushing Mang0 toward excess: 'You enabled someone into a medical emergency! Saying to 'increase those numbers,' and then once sh** hits the f**king fan, you say he's banned from all your events. After that, he's dropped from C9, banned from Melee tournaments.' Westballz questioned the sincerity of Ludwig's friendship with Mang0, arguing that encouraging dangerous behavior and later cutting ties isn't how a real friend acts. He also claimed the fallout from this will harm the Melee scene itself, suggesting viewership will drop now that one of its most iconic figures has been publicly disgraced and banned. What Exactly Happened with Mang0? Mang0's antics included suggestive behavior toward multiple female streamers. One viral clip in particular, where he appeared to push up against Maya Higa from behind, lit Reddit and Twitter/X on fire, sparking outrage. Though intoxicated, many fans and creators saw his behavior as inexcusable. Valkyrae later weighed in, calling the incident a 'disaster,' and emphasized that Mang0 'needs to seek help.' A Community Divided Some fans side with Westballz, saying Ludwig, as host, should've kept the event under control. Others argue Mang0 is responsible for his own actions, regardless of encouragement. There's also the bigger picture — the impact on the Super Smash Bros. community. Mang0 was one of its biggest icons. Westballz fears that this incident and the way it was handled could hurt the game's visibility and legacy. The Beerio Kart saga might just change how streamer-led events are run moving forward. Because enabling, even unintentionally, has its consequences. Game On Season 1 continues with Mirabai Chanu's inspiring story. Watch Episode 2 here.
