Gemma Collins left 'terrified' after being sent 'rat poison' to her Essex home
Gemma Collins was left terrified after a hate mail reportedly parcel containing rat poison was sent to her home recently - it comes just weeks after she called 999 after receiving hate letters
Reality TV star Gemma Collins has reportedly upped security at her Essex home after a package containing "rat poision" was sent to her home.
The 44-year-old, who lives with businessman fiancé Rami Hawash, is believed to have invested in 24-hour guard dog patrols and alerted Essex Police after the arrival of the package, which also contained a nasty letter.
It comes just a couple of weeks after the Celebrity Big Brother icon was left 'shaken and very scared for her safety' after receiving a hateful letter from a man who wrote about his extreme dislike for her.
It seems the escalation of hate mail, from a letter to "rat poision", has left Gemma "terrified" and fearful for her beloved pets who live with her in her stunning countryside home.
A source close to Gemma told The Sun: 'The latest delivery was really scary for Gemma and she was genuinely terrified. It was delivered by the postman, but it had no postage stamp on it.
"Gemma was worried because it contained rat poison, especially as she has animals at her home. She was already liaising with police over her earlier hate letter.
"It was from a man who expressed his extreme dislike for her and used menacing language. The police have been fantastic and have some new leads. Gemma's trying not to let it get to her and is doing her best to focus on summer projects.'
Sadly, it's not the first time the star has had a brush with the dark side of fame. She told a podcast in May that she has had several stalkers over the years, who had threatened her and sent 'terrifying' letters to her boutique in Brentwood.
She said it 'played havoc on her mind' and was the reason she moved away from front-of-house work at the boutique. '
No one would believe the b****y crap I've had to deal with,' she confessed. 'I've had a woman stalker who wrote me a letter in white gloves and wanted to kill me. People would wish me dead.
"I'd get all sorts at the shop. People are weird. And that's why I came away from my shop.'
And, in 2019, it was revealed that Gemma had called the police after being targeted by a stalker – a man who she claimed had previously verbally abused her outside her home over six days. The experience was so traumatic that it made her question if she could stay in Essex.
The Mirror has reached out to Gemma's representatives and Essex Police for comment.

Zara McDermott under fire for Glastonbury photo after Louis Tomlinson left her
Zara McDermott is dating One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson and she attended her first ever Glastonbury festival this weekend with Louis, who is a veteran attendee of the festival Zara McDermott has come under fire for her Glastonbury festival post after attending with One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson. The pair's romance has been heating up over the recent months, but they are yet to share a photo together. Zara attended her first ever Glastonbury festival this weekend, where she partied with Louis and his sister Lottie Tomlinson. However, she has been heavily criticised for her post - as fans fumed over one thing. One person wrote: "girlie, why in the grass when you can do it standing ik like lottie, let people pass :D," whilst another added: "THIS IS GLASTONBURY NOT COACHELLA Say it again so you remember!" "This is the kind of photos influencers take on Coachella, not Glasto. Read the room please, this is just embarrassing," a third shared online, with a fourth adding: "Is it Glastonbury, or Coachella?" However, other fans rushed to social media to support Zara and fume at the spiteful comments. One penned: "Why do you all need to knock her down? She is literally just living her life. You look beautiful Zara." "Jesus christ, some of you are like kids! Leave her be. I'd be taking pics of my 1st Glastonbury too if I had bottle to go but too many people for me to cope. Grow up some of you and let her and her bloke navigate their relationship!!" another added. The Mirror exclusively revealed Zara and Louis spent the final night of the festival watching The Prodigy. "Louis was loving The Prodigy. He dragged her along to the Other Stage and had a ball dancing to their hits. Zara danced along before leaving hand in hand with Louis before the set ended," a source told us. The pair did not post together at Glastonbury but Zara did share a lot of videos and photos with Louis' sister Lottie, who was there with Lewis Burton. She shared a snap of them on her story as they all danced together. They are still trying to keep things quiet about their relationship on social media and the pair didn't even camp together at the festival, it has been revealed. Zara chose to stay off site whilst Louis stayed on site with his friends - and even had a tent just for alcohol. Another source told The Mirror: "Louis is determined to make it a weekend to remember and has planned everything with military like precision - including making sure enough booze is available. "He has his own tent - and one just for the drinks. Everyone is saying it's a nice break for him and Zara, but it's a great way also for Zara to meet his mates. It will definitely be a boozy one and not a particularly romantic one."

I travelled 212 miles for a viral street party - I'd do it again in a heartbeat
I went to the annual street festival in Paris and saw a different side of the country during Fête de la Musique - music blasted, strangers danced, and for once, it felt like everyone was truly living and enjoying I travelled to Paris to experience the annual street music takeover and found freedom, joy, and far too many stairs. Fête de la Musique turned the streets of Paris into good chaos, calm and everything in between and for one hot summer day, I was right in the middle of it. People tend to associate Paris is the city of love, fashion and all things art – but for one weekend, it felt different. It felt more like a city of vibes, dancing, and culture. The streets of Paris were undeniably electric - music blaring from every corner, people dancing like no one was watching, and the French, Brits and even Americans stepping out in their best fits. I'd never seen the city like this. Sure, I'd only been to Paris once before, for Disneyland; but still. This was different. For most people, Fête de la Musique is just a party. But to Parisians, it's a day of sound, movement, and pure joy. I first heard about the event through TikTok where talk of the festival had gone viral. I booked my ticket after watching videos that had gained thousands of likes, thinking: 'Yes; this is a bit of me - pure vibes, dancing and the city of love.' For more stories like this subscribe to our weekly newsletter, The Weekly Gulp, for a curated roundup of trending stories, poignant interviews, and viral lifestyle picks from The Mirror's Audience U35 team delivered straight to your inbox. If I'm being completely honest, the viral videos influenced my decision to spend almost £500 on my hotel and train ride across the border. I could've booked a cheeky beach holiday for less, but it wasn't just the videos that had me curious - it was the debate between Brits and the French that made me want to go even more. Some Parisians on TikTok were warning Brits off, calling it a 'glorified block party.' But I had to see it for myself. When the day of Fête came, I got ready, put on my outfit and headed to my first stop: Châtelet les Halles. It was early and the streets were already packed. One thing that shocked me? Every shop was open. Not boarded up or braced for chaos like at Notting Hill Carnival. Some people were even shopping like there wasn't a full-blown street party happening outside. That alone made it feel different. The music was loud and at first, the crowd looked overwhelming - it was 35 degrees, and it seemed like there wasn't space to breathe. But I didn't come all this way to stand outside the action. So I went in. And it didn't disappoint. It wasn't long before the contagious energy got to me with songs I'd never heard before. I was dancing like no one was watching because, honestly, no one cared, no one judged and that alone is a rare sight. In the UK, you sometimes hold back in the dance worrying about someone watching, filming or judging. But here? People were just dancing. It was free, easy. A vibe you don't find often. When we'd had enough of that crowd, we travelled to a completely different part of Paris for another party. We had to take the Metro to get there and let me just say this: Paris and stairs? Criminal. Every station had so many I genuinely started questioning my life choices - but also contributed to my step intake. So, in all fairness the stairs did me a favour. Once all my dancing was done, I perched myself on the edge of a lake and it gave me the stillness my body didn't know it needed. It might've just been one day, but it made me feel something I hadn't felt in a while - completely present. That's the power of good music, a good crowd, and a city that finally lets its hair down. While I had a great time at Fête, the French told no lies when they said it was a glorified block party - a really good one. Despite all the chaos going on in the world, this day felt like a reminder. Joy is still possible. And when people come together, something truly beautiful happens. If you are a winner and we are unable to contact you despite our best efforts for any reason within 28 days of the winner being determined, the Promoter reserves the right to forfeit your Prize and select an alternative winner. If any winner is later found to be ineligible to win any Prize for any reason, then the winner must return the Prize back to the Promoter within 28 days of its request. All cash amounts will be paid in British Pounds Sterling. If your bank account is in a different currency, (e.g. Euros) the cash Prize amount may differ to the amount stated due to the then current conversion rate offered by your bank and may be subject to conversion fees (these are both outside of the control of the Promoter and the Promoter cannot be held responsible for any discrepancies or fees). 5.3 Winners' Details The Promoter proposes to make available a list of winners, subject to any objections from the relevant individuals.
