Maggie Gyllenhaal's ‘The Bride!' Sneak Peek Drops F-Bomb, Smashes Skulls
They have so much belief that earlier this month they moved the release date of the film back from fall to March 2026, the month from which they turned 'Dune: Part Two' and 'Godzilla x Kong' into major box office hits. To show theaters why they're so hyped, film division chiefs Pam Abdy and Michael De Luca brought Gyllenhaal and star Jessie Buckley onstage to talk about the film and show the first trailer.
The trailer is incredibly brutal, opening with a slow-motion image of Buckley playing the Bride in the accident that killed her, her limbs slowly snapping and her body splayed out on the ground. She is then brought back to life, all memory of her past lost and black ooze pouring from her lips, much to the delight of the gruesomely stitched Frankenstein Monster, played by Christian Bale.
The trailer then shows the couple fighting to survive in a violent Chicago, with the Monster willing to kill anyone who dares threaten them. The Bride watches shocked as her horrific husband slams an attacker's skull into a wall until blood is pouring down the wall, and as he stands triumphant over the corpse, he hisses, 'Til death do us part.'
And just to punch home how in-your-face this film will be, here's the tagline shown in bright orange letters: 'Here. Comes. The. Fucking. Bride.'
In 1935, Elsa Lanchester played the famous Bride of Frankenstein in the Boris Karloff film of the same name, instantly becoming a timeless horror icon. But Gyllenhaal, who first got the idea for the film after being captivated by a man's tattoo of the Bride, sees potential for that character to become something never seen before on the big screen.
'In the original, the Bride is in the movie for about three minutes and doesn't speak, which could not be more different than ours,' she said. 'I'm really interested in monsters and I think that all of us have a little aspect of something monstrous in us. Monsters in our movie do monstrous things, but they're also our heroes.'
'The Bride!' will stomp into theaters on March 6, 2026.

Warner Bros. Discovery is soon to be... Warner Bros. and Discovery Global
Warner Bros. Discovery has begun to prepare for its impending divorce. As announced back in June, each half of the soon-to-be-historic conglomerate has already claimed a CEO and division of the company. Now, those two halves, which will operate as separate, publicly traded entities, have brand new names to take with them into single life. The new company spun out of WBD's current 'Streaming & Studios' division will henceforth be known as 'Warner Bros.,' Variety reports. This is where Warner Bros. Television, Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, DC Studios, HBO, HBO Max, Warner Bros. Gaming Studios, and all of their film and TV libraries will live when the separation is complete, which is expected to occur around mid-2026. The streaming and studios company gets to keep the Warner Bros. name to honor 'the legacy of more than a century of industry-defining storytelling,' the company said in a statement. The current 'Global Networks' division will be called 'Discovery Global.' That company will cover WBD's entertainment, sports and news TV brands, including CNN, Discovery, and TNT Sports. It will also house digital platforms like Discovery+ and Bleacher Report, as well as a number of free-to-air channels across Europe. Its name was chosen 'in recognition of the affinity and value this name has around the world in entertainment, news and sports,' the company said. As previously announced, current WBD CEO David Zaslav will head up the new Warner Bros., while current CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels will take over Discovery Global. Zaslav will have to make due with a couple million less than he's making now, which makes sense considering the company's major debt issue is what got it into this mess in the first place. Regardless of any responsibility he may have had for those money troubles as CFO, Wiedenfels will receive an increased compensation package to 'reflect his expanded responsibilities' as CEO of Discovery Global. The pay cut doesn't seem to have diminished Zaslav's opinion of the company. (Well, at least not publicly.) 'We will proudly continue the more than century-long legacy of Warner Bros. through our commitment to bringing culture-defining stories, characters and entertainment to audiences around the world,' he said in a statement. 'Over the past several years, we have made important strides across the business, launching and investing in a profitable, global streaming service and reinvigorating our studios to return them again to an industry leading position. With our unmatched portfolio of storytelling IP coupled with our incredible creative partners, and now an executive team of proven, bold and committed creative and corporate leaders, we are in a strong position to launch and continue to meaningfully grow a company worthy of our storied past.' Hopefully the company's future will be a little less chaotic. More from A.V. Trump White House Says ‘Moronic' Sydney Sweeney Criticism Shows Why He Won: Voters Are ‘Tired of This Bulls—t'
"Cancel culture run amok," President Donald Trump's communications manager Steven Cheung shares The White House thinks the Left's reaction to the Sydney Sweeney American Eagle jeans ad is 'moronic,' as well as further proof as to why President Trump won the election. Trump's communications manager Steven Cheung called out the ongoing outrage surrounding the new campaign showing Sweeney touting herself for having great jeans – a play on the actress' genes. Cheung posted on X that voters were 'tired of this bulls–t' after some online called the ad tone-deaf, saying it celebrates Sweeney's whiteness and thinness. 'This warped, moronic and dense liberal thinking is a big reason why Americans voted the way they did in 2024. They're tired of this bulls–t.' Many viral comments deriding the ad bring up arguments suggesting that it's not only supposedly promoting white supremacy, but also eugenics, nazism and master race propaganda. 'Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color,' Sweeney says in the ad. 'My jeans are blue.' Cheung is far from the only member of the Right to slam the reaction to the ad campaign. Megyn Kelly torched the 'lunatic left' on her podcast earlier this week for the online reaction. 'She's being called a white supremacist by people who don't like her latest ad, which is for American Eagle,' Kelly said. 'She's advertising jeans, and yet the lunatics on the Left think she's advertising white supremacy. This is obviously a reference to her body and not to her skin color, but the lunatic left is going to do what the lunatic left is going to do.' She continued: 'They're upset because it's about who gets to be the face of America's Best Genes. They think it's no accident that they've chosen a white, thin woman because you're, I guess, not allowed to celebrate those things in any way, shape, or form. But they're completely ignoring the reference to her body, which is the thing she's famous for. It's just absurd.' Watch the full Fox News clip on Cheung's reaction above. The AI-Altered ‘Wizard Of Oz' Controversy, Explained
Actors Bert Lahr (1895-1967), Jack Haley (1897-1979), Ray Bolger (1904-1987), Judy Garland (1922-1969) and Margaret Hamilton (1902-1985) in costume during a scene from the film 'The Wizard of Oz', 1939. (Photo by Silver) Getty Images An AI-altered version of The Wizard of Oz created for the Las Vegas Sphere has ignited backlash online, with film fans describing the changes as 'vandalism.' As generative AI slowly creeps its way into the film industry, one tendril at a time, the alteration of an iconic film struck many commentators as incredibly invasive. In April, Warner Bros. announced that an altered version of The Wizard of Oz (1939) would play inside the Las Vegas Sphere, with the help of Google's engineers—alterations to the film are estimated to have cost $80 million dollars. The Las Vegas Sphere is something of an absurd object, even for Vegas, a gargantuan metal dome wrapped in LED screens. Surreal images of the Sphere regularly go viral on social media (the Sphere's transformation into a giant emoji is particularly popular). The interior of the Sphere offers an unusually immersive experience for viewers, featuring a curved 160,000-square-foot screen, towering over a 17,600-seat theater. Usually, the Sphere is limited to showing films shot specifically for its giant screen, but in order to bring The Wizard of Oz to the Sphere, AI was used to expand and alter the original film. Google's engineers worked on expanding the aspect ratio, smoothing out the film grain and even adding new background details. Rather than multiplying the existing pixels on screen, Google's generative AI tools created new pixels to increase the definition and scale of the film. While the AI-altered version of the film exists only to be screened in the Las Vegas Sphere, the sight of the artificially expanded land of Oz made commentators uneasy. AI-Altered 'The Wizard Of Oz' Sparks Backlash Shots from the AI-enhanced Wizard of Oz were shared on social media, and baffled many film fans, as intentionally blurry backgrounds had been sharpened, and an AI-generated doppelganger of Uncle Henry had been generated to fill empty space beyond the frame. On X, one commentator offered sarcastic praise, writing: 'I think this is a wonderful idea. Like everyone, I'd been wondering my entire life what Uncle Henry was doing over by the window while Aunt Em argued with Miss Gulch, and finally we know. He was standing there.' Film critics didn't hold back, with many expressing deep disappointment that the original, carefully considered shots of The Wizard of Oz had been altered. While most of the altered shots have the shimmery, glossy sheen of generative AI, the biggest casualty might be the film's glorious hand-painted backdrops, which add to the otherworldly atmosphere of The Wizard of Oz . The Sphere's AI-expansion has changed these backdrops into sprawling, photo-realistic landscapes, making the magical Land of Oz look like just another place—Dorothy might as well have stayed in Kansas. The controversy parallels a widely mocked trend that briefly arose during the early days of generative AI, in which iconic works of art were 'improved' or enlarged using the technology. This led to strange sights, like the AI-generated expansion of the Mona Lisa, creating a bizarre alien landscape. While the Sphere's version of The Wizard of Oz is far from the first time that a classic film has been tinkered with, the fact that AI was used to not only alter existing shots, but generate new imagery beyond the frame, sparked serious concerns. The word "vandalism" appears in many of the critical comments— The Wizard of Oz is viewed as one of cinema's most sacred objects, and film fans do not like to see it being tampered with. Another classic film, Jurassic Park , contains a quote which has proved prescient in the age of generative AI: "Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
