Bust of Doors singer Jim Morrison that was stolen nearly 40 years ago has been recovered

PARIS (AP) — Police have found a bust of Jim Morrison that was stolen nearly four decades ago from the Paris grave that has long been a place of pilgrimage for fans of the legendary Doors singer and poet.
The bust taken in 1988 from Père-Lachaise cemetery was found during an unrelated investigation conducted by a financial anti-corruption unit, Paris police said in an Instagram post Monday.
There was no immediate word on whether the bust would be returned to the grave or what other investigation might take place.
Morrison, the singer of Doors classics including 'Light My Fire,' 'Break on Through,' and 'The End,' was found dead in a Paris bathtub at age 27 in 1971.
He was buried at Père-Lachaise, the city's cemetery that is the final resting place of scores of artists, writers and other cultural luminaries including Marcel Proust, Oscar Wilde, Gertrude Stein and Edith Piaf.
The 300-pound bust made by Croatian sculptor Mladen Mikulin was added to the grave in 1981 for the 10th anniversary of the singer's death.
'I think it would be incredible if they put the bust back onto where it was and it would attract so many more people, but the cemetery wouldn't even be able to hold that many people,' Paris tour guide Jade Jezzini told The Associated Press. 'The amount of people who would rush in here just to see the bust to take pictures of it, it would be incredible.'
Known for his dark lyrics, wavy locks, leather pants, theatrical stage presence and mystical manner, Morrison has inspired generations of acolytes who congregate at his grave to reflect and sometimes to party, including a major gathering for the 50th anniversary of his death. The site has often been covered with flowers, poetic graffiti and liquor bottles left in tribute.
He was undergoing a cultural renaissance when the bust was stolen in the late 1980s, which peaked with the 1991 Oliver Stone film 'The Doors,' in which Val Kilmer, who died in April, played Morrison.
London artist Sam Burcher recently returned to the now more subdued grave site that she first visited 40 years ago when the sculpture of Morrison was still in place.
'The bust was much smaller than all of these grand tombs. It was very modest, so I was quite surprised by that,' she told the AP. 'But the other thing was the atmosphere, it was buzzing. There were people partying, smoking, music, dancing, and then I brought strawberries and kind of gave them out to everyone ... it was just such an amazing experience.'
Morrison cofounded the Doors in Los Angeles in 1965 with Ray Manzarek. Robby Krieger and John Densmore joined soon after.
The band and its frontman burned brightly but briefly, releasing albums including 'The Doors' 'Strange Days,' and 'Morrison Hotel, whose The California site that gave that album its name and cover image was seriously damaged in a fire last year.
After their final album, 1971's 'L.A. Woman,' Morrison moved to Paris. His cause of death was listed as heart failure, though no autopsy was performed as none was required by law. Disputes and myths have surrounded the death and added to his mystique.

Why Are Bands Leaving Spotify (Again)?

Last month, experimental rock outfit King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard joined a growing list of artists to pull music from Spotify. Why? 'A PSA to those unaware: Spotify CEO Daniel Ek invests millions in AI military drone technology," said a statement posted July 25 to the band's Instagram page, referring to Ek leading a $600 million investment in a German drone company. 'We just removed our music from the platform. Can we put pressure on these Dr. Evil tech bros to do better? Join us on another platform.' The $600 million investment led by Ek's Prima Materia firm goes to Helsing, a defense technology company worth an estimated $12 billion, according to a Financial Times report. Helsing is one of the highest-valued tech start-ups in Europe. The company plans to expand from AI software development into drone, aircraft and submarine technology, per the report. 'I'm sure people will criticize it and that's OK. Personally, I'm not concerned about it," Ek said in the story. "I focus more on doing what I think is right and I am 100 per cent convinced that this is the right thing for Europe.' King Gizzard – a band with an avid following and expansive catalog of 27 albums (and counting) – joins a handful of acts to exit the platform this summer. The list includes indie-rock outfit Deerhoof, folk singer Leah Senior, record label Kalahari Oyster Cult and Australian musician David Birdie, who did published an op-ed last week in the Guardian that outlined his decision. In the piece, Birdie said he doesn't 'want my songs – some written with survivors of conflict – to enrich people who fund weapons.' This isn't the first wave of artist backlash against to hit Spotify, the global leader in music streaming. An exodus took place in 2022, after the company inked a podcasting deal with controversial entertainer Joe Rogan. At that time, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell and others left the streaming service (Young and Mitchell each returned to Spotify in 2024). King Gizzard, Birdie and others remain available on competing streaming platforms, including Apple Music and Amazon Music.

Teens Are Considering ‘Influencing' & OnlyFans ‘Modeling' as Valid Career Options

As a child, I dreamed of being a famous movie star or a pop singer or an Olympic gymnast. Now, kids today have another aspirational career goal — one that's much more easily attainable. According to recent reports, teens are viewing social media 'influencing' and OnlyFans 'modeling' as valid career options after high school. Approximately 57 percent of Gen Zers would become an influencer if given the chance, according to a 2023 report by Morning Consult, per CNBC. 'No-frills, direct-to-cam and low-editing content does well on TikTok, so it's broadened the amount of people who feel influencing is accessible to them,' brand analyst at Morning Consult Ellyn Briggs said. She said teens feel they 'can easily make a career in influencing.' More from SheKnows I Didn't Expect My Teen Daughter's Friendship Drama to Impact My Own A 2021 study by YouGov found the most popular dream job of teens is professional streamer/vlogger/YouTuber (11 percent), beating out doctor or nurse (8 percent), musician (7 percent), actor (7 percent), and professional athlete (7 percent). And it's not just influencing. Many teens think about a career as an OnlyFans model, a platform that sells erotic content creation. A June 2025 study in Sexuality & Culture surveyed high school students in Spain and found that adolescents ages 12-16 are aware of and access OnlyFans and perceive the platform as an 'attractive professional alternative, especially for girls who meet the canons of beauty.' In an era of increasing teen burnout — a previous survey of SheKnows' Teen Council found over 90 percent of teenagers admitted to feeling stressed frequently or occasionally, with academics on the top list of stressors — it's no wonder that teens are considering untraditional career paths outside of going to college or getting a job. Continuing your education or going through job interviews sounds exhausting if you're already burned out in high school. Why do that when you could make easy money by becoming an influencer, narrating your video games on Twitch, or selling videos of your body on OnlyFans? Obviously, some people make really great money on TikTok or other platforms, and parents can't tell their kids what to do after they turn 18. However, if you feel like your teen only wants to pursue influencing or modeling because they are too overwhelmed by any other option (or they feel like they have no other option), then parents can do their best to help them think through all the options. After all, teens are wired for poor decision-making. 'Teen brains are still developing — especially the parts involved in planning, impulse control, and long-term thinking,' Dr. Jeff Temple, PhD, psychologist at UTHealth Houston, previously told SheKnows. 'At the same time, the emotional and reward-seeking parts of adolescent brains are super active. That means teens are more likely to act quickly, especially in emotionally charged or high-pressure situations.' So if they randomly decide to drop out of college to apply to live in 'the Bop House,' it makes sense. By having open conversations (not lectures) with your teens about their options after high school, encouraging them and trying to ease the pressure they're feeling, hopefully you can help them find a career path that is right for them. And if they still want to be an influencer, you have to ask yourself: is it all that different from teens who move to California to pursue their dreams of making it in Hollywood? Calvin Harris Announces the Birth of His First Child & Shares Placenta Photos: ‘My Wife Is a Superhero'

Calvin Harris and his wife, Vick Hope, are celebrating the birth of their first child. The Scottish superstar producer shared the news by posting a photo of himself holding the newborn, a boy named Micah, in an Instagram post Monday (Aug. 4). '20th of July our boy arrived. Micah is here!' Harris' caption reads. 'My wife is a superhero and I am in complete awe of her primal wisdom! Just so grateful. We love you so much Micah.' More from Billboard Katy Perry Fan Collapses on Stage During Lifetimes Tour Stop in Detroit Roger Daltrey Labels Zak Starkey's Exit Comments 'Character Assassination' Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst Attends His Own Lookalike Concert in Nebraska The photo carousel also includes photos of Hope in a water birth tank, along with an image of what looks to be Hope's placenta, which Harris then shows chunks of in a food dehydrator, with the final image of the carousel being a jar of supplements presumably made from said placenta. Placenta consumption is not uncommon, with some believing that benefits can include helping new mothers in the postpartum period. This isn't the first time Harris has shared his alternative health habits. Last year, he revealed that he drinks raw egg yolks to stave off jetlag, typically stashing six eggs in his carry-on bag. The comments section on Harris' birth announcement post is naturally buzzing with congrats, with fellow artists including Armin van Buuren, Chris Lake, Sonny Fodera, Kygo and many others chiming in with well wishes. The news follows Harris and Hope getting married in England in 2023. It is the first marriage for both. Meanwhile on the charts, Harris' latest single 'Blessings' is currently in its eleventh week on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs. The song, a collaboration with singer Clementine Douglas, is currently at No. 5, down from its apex position at No. 3.
