Fans show love for Tyler, The Creator's new dance album, 'Don't Tap the Glass'

This album was not made for sitting still. Dancing, driving, running, any type of movement is recommended to maybe understand the spirit of it. Only at full volume," the artist wrote on Instagram.
Less than a year after releasing his chart-topping, "Chromakopia," Tyler, The Creator released his ninth studio album on Monday and he's encouraging folks to let loose while listening.
"Don't Tap the Glass" released early July 21 and features 10 songs produced and performed by Tyler, The Creator. The album's cover art features the artist with an unproportionally-sized head and limbs sporting red pants, a large gold chain, glasses and a red hat that reads, "GLASS."
"I asked some friends why they don't dance in public and some said because of the fear of being film," the rapper and producer shared in an Instagram post on Monday. "I thought, 'Damn, a natural form of expression and a certain connection they have with music is now a ghost.' It made me wonder how much of our human spirit got killed because of the fear of being a meme. All for having a good time."
Taking a one-night break from "Chromakopia: The World Tour," which continues through September, Tyler, The Creator held a listening party for the new album in Los Angeles on Sunday evening. In his Instagram post, the artist said during an evening with no phones, no camera, "just speakers and sweatbox," friends and fans were simply able to enjoy themselves.
"This album was not made for sitting still. Dancing, driving, running, any type of movement is recommended to maybe understand the spirit of it. Only at full volume," he concluded in the post.

In conjunction with the album's release, Tyler, The Creator released a music video for the track, "Stop Playing with Me," which features Pusha T, Malice and LeBron James. Only three hours after its release, the video had more than 574,000 views on YouTube.
What are fans saying?
Largely, fans have been sharing their love for "Don't Tap the Glass."
"I've never smiled more than I have today," the top comment on the artist's Instagram post teasing the music video read, as of July 21.
TikTok user Tyson Jones pointed out that "Don't Tap the Glass" has a much different sound than the artist's previous album, "Chromakopia." The albums also vary in length, as "Don't Tap the Glass" runs front to back in less than 30 minutes and "Chromakopia" runs more than 50 minutes. Jones said the new album may be different than what Tyler, The Creator fans are used to, or were hoping of the artist's new album, but the dance-centric album is a fun listen.
"You can just tell, Tyler, The Creator was having a lot of fun making this and just wanted to drop it for his fans," Jones said in a video.
Brielle Ki, an editorial intern for advertising agency Hypebeast, described the new album as a raw, creative implusive from Tyler, The Creator, following a more structured "Chromakopia."
"Across all ten songs, "Don't Tap the Glass" resists definition. It doesn't aim to be cohesive or complete," Ki wrote in a Hypebeast blog post. "This album strays from genre while still feeling entirely like him – less a statement, more a glimpse into the raw mechanics of his creative process. Instead of searching for meaning, it feels like he's letting the music speak for what he doesn't want to explain."

E! News cancelled after 34 Years

The nightly celebrity news programme E! News has been cancelled after 34 years on the air. Versant, the company that oversees E! and a number of former NBCUniversal cable networks, is axing the show, which currently broadcasts at 11.30pm Eastern Time, with the final episode airing on 25 September. E! News is fronted by hosts Keltie Knight and Justin Sylvester. The series, which launched in 1991, previously had a hiatus during the pandemic but returned in 2022 after a two-year break. The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline report that employees learned of the cancellation on Thursday (24 July) morning, with a repeat episode airing that evening instead of an original episode. Around 20 people work on the E! News programme, with some understood to be offered other roles at the company and others expected to leave. New episodes will resume next week, with the network's other programmes, Access Hollywood and Access Daily, airing as usual. E! News will still exist as a digital brand and will instead focus on growth on its social platforms, which have seen impressive growth on Instagram and TikTok, Deadline reported earlier this year. E!, which currently has around 87M social media followers, puts out numerous digital programmes, including E! News The Rundown on Snapchat, Hot Goss on Instagram and RE!CAP on YouTube. The channel also airs shows including E!'s Dirty Rotten Scandals, Botched Presents: Plastic Surgery Rewind and Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour, hosted by TV personality Kristin Cavallari. In the shake up, NBCUniversal has split itself in two, per The Hollywood Reporter. Peacock and Bravo will stay as key pieces of NBCU, while the rest (USA Network, Syfy, E!, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen and Golf Channel) will make up the new company Versant. The company's digital businesses Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes and Golf Now will also move to Versant. Long term E! News viewers were quick to react to the news online. 'Here's to the news channel I was raised on,' one person said on Instagram. 'What is going on?' asked another. 'Honestly that was my dream job growing up,' another fan added, with a fourth echoing: 'This was my ultimate dream platform to host on. The end of an era.'

Daniel Caesar Talks Working With ‘Genius' Tyler, the Creator, Says Justin Bieber ‘Can Sing His A– Off'

Daniel Caesar has an impressive list of collaborators on his resumé, from Tyler, the Creator to Justin Bieber. And in his Billboard cover story published Thursday (July 24), the R&B singer-songwriter opened up about what it's like to work with both superstars. Starting with his fellow Canadian, Caesar had only kind things to say about the Biebs. After they scored a No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with collaboration 'Peaches' in 2021, the pair reunited on the pop star's 'Devotion' off new album Swag. 'He's also so open and kind and generous. I can spot a fellow Canadian when I see one.' On working with Tyler on Chromakopia, for which the rapper entrusted Caesar with giving notes on production, the latter said, 'I felt like, 'Who am I to tell you what you should do?'' 'He's a genius,' Caesar added of Tyler. 'He's such an important voice for our generation.' The love goes both ways. 'I think he knows he's so f–king ill now,' Tyler told Billboard of the singer, who is credited on several Chromakopia tracks. 'I think he kind of knew it … but now he's walking around like, 'Yes, my d–k is 15 inches.' That's that energy.' Caesar's cover story comes one day ahead of new song 'Have a Baby (With Me),' which will serve as the lead single to upcoming album Son of Spergy. The Oshawa native hasn't dropped an LP since 2023's Never Enough, which reached No. 14 on the Billboard 200 — Caesar's highest peak on the chart to date. On Son of Spergy, Caesar told Billboard that his next full-length is 'about religion, but more importantly, it's about my father.' 'In your childhood, your father is a lot like God,' he added. 'He's the person you fear the most on earth and also the person whose love and respect you desire more than anyone else on earth. It's the source from where all your blessings come.' Kesha Shows Support for Cassie Ventura Following Diddy Trial Verdict: ‘I Believe You'

After Sean 'Diddy' Combs was found not guilty of sex-trafficking, despite days of Cassie Ventura testifying to the contrary, the singer has received support from someone who knows what it's like to have their sexual assault claims play out in court: Kesha. Just hours after the Bad Boy Records founder was acquitted on sex-trafficking and racketeering charges Wednesday (July 2) — with a New York jury only convicting him on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution — Kesha shared a message of solidarity with Ventura on X. 'Cassie, I believe you,' she wrote. 'I love you.' More from Billboard Cassie's Lawyer Calls Diddy's Defense Closing Arguments 'Repugnant' Following Verdict Bad Bunny's 'NUEVAYol' Video Arrives on Fourth of July With Pro-Immigrant Message: 'Together We Are Stronger' BLACKPINK Is 'Ready to Jump' in What Looks to Be a New Music Teaser: Listen The pop star added, 'Your strength is a beacon for every survivor.' The jury's decision came after two days of deliberations, putting an end to a seven-week trial that found federal prosecutors attempting to convict Diddy on allegations that he'd spent years running a criminal enterprise built around his own sexual gratification. Ventura took the stand for several days in May and detailed how the disgraced mogul allegedly abused and trafficked her for the sake of his 'freak off' parties. Diddy has denied all of the accusations levied against him in the trial from the beginning. He now awaits sentencing, facing a maximum of 20 years behind bars for the prostitution charge. Kesha has previously found herself in the middle of legal proceedings involving allegations of sexual assault, with the singer accusing producer Dr. Luke in 2014 of drugging her and raping her at a 2005 party, something he vehemently denies. The claims sparked a yearslong legal battle that finally ended when the two parties reached a settlement in 2023 — but Kesha has been open about the toll her experience has taken on her personally and artistically. The 'Tik Tok' hitmaker is now gearing up to release . (Period) — her very first independent album after finishing her contract with Dr. Luke's Kemosabe Records — on July 4. 'It's been all of my vision, all of my words, a lot of hard work, a lot of joy,' Kesha said of the project on The Jennifer Hudson Show in May. 'Really coming back home to myself and feeling what freedom really looks like, feels like, sounds like.' As for Ventura, the model recently welcomed her third baby with husband Alex Fine. The birth came just a couple of weeks after she finished her time on the stand in Diddy's trial. In response to the hip-hop titan's partial acquittal, Ventura's attorney's said in a statement, 'By coming forward with her experience, Cassie has left an indelible mark on both the entertainment industry and the fight for justice … This case proved that change is long overdue, and we will continue to fight on behalf of survivors.'
