The Danielle Deadwyler horror thriller The Woman in the Yard has made its debut on digital streaming.
The Woman in The Yard was released in theaters on March 28. The summary for the film reads, 'A lone, spectral woman shrouded entirely in black appears on a family's front lawn without explanation and warns them, 'Today's the day.' Where did she come from? What does she want? When will she leave? Only The Woman in the Yard knows.'
Rated PG-13 The Woman in the Yard also stars Russell Hornsby, Estella Kahiha, Peyton Jackson and Okwui Okpokwasili as the title character.
The Woman in the Yard is new on digital streaming Tuesday via premium video on demand on a variety of digital platforms, including AppleTV, Fandango at Home and Prime Video. The film is available to purchase on PVOD for $24.99 and rent for $19.99 for 48 hours.
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, The Woman in the Yard is the latest collaboration between Jason Blum's horror movie studio Blumhouse Productions and Universal Pictures. The irony is that the film's screenwriter, Sam Stefanak, came from the world of comedy.
However, there was a lasting image that existed in Stefanak's mind throughout his years of writing — and it wasn't funny.
'For years I had this image in my head of a stranger sitting in a chair outside a window, staring at a house in the middle of nowhere,' Stefanak told Filmmaker Magazine in a recent interview. 'I didn't really know what to do with it — I didn't know what it meant, who that person was. So, that image just sort of sat there. I was writing comedy; I was in a bunch of Netflix rooms, I thought I was a comedy writer.
'Whatever this image was, I knew it was something sinister. I could feel that,' Stefanak added. 'And I think it's worth mentioning that it was a man in a chair wearing a big, wide-brim hat. I guess I was imagining Reverend Kane, the villain from Poltergeist 2, to be quite honest.'
The Woman in the Yard has earned $20.3 million in North American theaters and nearly $700,000 internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $21 million to date. The film had a production budget of $12 million before prints and advertising costs, Deadline reported.
The film earned a 43% 'rotten' rating from Rotten Tomatoes critics based on 61 reviews and a 47% 'rotten' score on RT's Popcornmeter based on 1,000-plus verified user ratings.
The Woman in the Yard is new on PVOD on Tuesday.

Johnny Depp Joins Alice Cooper In Surprise Concert Appearance In Honor of Ozzy Osbourne

Johnny Depp paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne with a special concert appearance three days after the heavy metal icon's death at age 76 on Tuesday, July 22. Depp, 62, walked on stage during rock legend Alice Cooper's show at The O2 Arena in London on Friday, July 25, to perform the classic Black Sabbath track 'Paranoid,' according to YouTube footage of the event. (Osbourne was Black Sabbath's frontman between 1968 and 1979, and most recently reunited with the original lineup for his final concert in Birmingham on July 5.) As Depp performed a guitar solo, Cooper stood in for Osbourne on vocals and even wore one of the legendary Black Sabbath singer's T-shirts. Depp stayed on stage for a mashup of Cooper's 1972 single 'School's Out' and the 1979 Pink Floyd hit 'Another Brick in the Wall Part 2.' The London show was a reunion for Depp and Cooper, as they've previously collaborated as members of the hard rock super group the Hollywood Vampires, along with Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry. (The Hollywood Vampires took their name from a social club that Cooper formed in the 1970s with fellow rock luminaries Ringo Starr, Keith Moon of The Who, Micky Dolenz of the Monkees and singer-songwriter Harry Nilsson.) Tributes have poured in since the Osbourne family confirmed on Tuesday that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee died following a long battle with Parkinson's disease. 'It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,' the Osbournes told Us Weekly in a statement. 'He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.' Ozzy Osbourne Made Poignant Instagram Post the Day Before His Death Osbourne's original Black Sabbath bandmates — guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward — acknowledged that they'd 'lost [a] brother' in respective social media statements. 'I just can't believe it! My dear dear friend Ozzy has passed away only weeks after our show at Villa Park,' Iommi, 77, wrote. 'It's just such heartbreaking news that I can't really find the words, there won't ever be another like him. Geezer, Bill and myself have lost our brother.' Butler, 76, added, 'Goodbye dear friend — thanks for all those years — we had some great fun. 4 kids from Aston — who'd have thought, eh? So glad we got to do it one last time, back in Aston. Love you.' Ward, 77, stressed that, despite their 'unspoken embraces' and 'missed phone calls,' Osbourne would be 'forever in [his] heart.' 'Deepest condolences to Sharon and all family members,' the drummer went on. 'RIP Sincere regrets to all the fans. Never goodbye. Thank you forever.' Osbourne's immense influence and pop culture impact were felt in the sheer amount of tributes he received from the entertainment industry. 'Whether we were in our basements with our brothers, in the woods with our buddies, in the car, at a keg party, on a boat, at football practice, at a sleepover … Nobody was more badass to crank up on our speakers than the one and only prince of darkness — Ozzy Osborne!' Adam Sandler memorialized via X. 'Loved him a lot like we all did! Sending love to the family and so happy to have spent time with the legend himself. RIP.' Singer-songwriter YungBlud wrote that Osbourne's legacy would be evident in 'every single note I sing and with me every single time I walk on stage.' 'You asked me once if there was anything you could do for me and as I said then and as I will say now for all of us the music was enough,' the 'Tongue Tied' musician, 27, continued. 'You took us on your adventure — an adventure that started it all. I am truly heartbroken. You were the greatest of all time.' Ozzy is survived by his wife, Sharon Osbourne, and six children: Elliot, Jessica and Louis from his first marriage to Thelma Riley, as well as Aimee, Kelly and Jack from his marriage to Sharon. THE RUNDOWN Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco got engaged in December 2024, but not yet revealed their wedding plan. Fans have been wanting to know more details about the upcoming event, and the Only Murder in the Building star finally shared some this week. On her Rare Beauty brand's TikTok account, Gomez shared some of her thoughts on the reception, saying she had some ideas for the dessert. Traditionally, a big wedding cake is expected, but Gomez has other dreams. 'My preferred dessert would be biscuits and gravy,' she shared. 'My Nana's biscuits and gravy. That sounds like dessert to me.' She also explained, 'Whenever that day comes, I do know I don't want a big cake. I think I'd want a mini one, for just us, that we can freeze.' Gomez previously discussed the first dance between the bride and groom on an episode of Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware, saying she was probably going to skip it. 'I don't think we're looking at having one of those 'cause they're a little—I feel embarrassed,' she said. But she was hoping to be escorted down the aisle by her grandfather. 'He never got a chance to walk my mom down the aisle,' she explained. 'I wanted to give [my grandfather] the opportunity to have that.' In July, Blanco discussed how planning is going on Jake Shane's podcast, Therapuss. The music producer said that they have both been so busy since the release of their album, I Said I Love You First. 'That's why we both need to chill,' Blanco explained. 'We've both been working so much. We got engaged, and then we were filming music videos for our album. Then it's holidays, then right after the holidays, we had to start all the promo for our stuff, do that. Then she left to film her show Only Murders [in the Building] and then I met her, then we hung out for a week, and then right after that, it's promo. And then I'm writing another book, so then I had to write a book, and then she came back for one day here. And then it was my birthday, and you know.' He continued, 'We're both working on so many things that we hadn't even had time to get into it, but we're so excited. I think this summer we're going to sit down and be like, 'Okay, what are we doing, hun?''

'We're not in Richmond anymore': What we know about 'Ted Lasso' Season 4

Believe it — Season 4 of Ted Lasso has officially begun production, Apple TV+ announced this week. That's right, Coach Lasso, the show's beloved mustachioed and mild-mannered namesake, who helped guide audiences through a global pandemic with optimism and humanity, is back on the football pitch. Well, this calls for biscuits. Filming has officially kicked off in star Jason Sudeikis's (Ted Lasso) hometown of Kansas City, Mo. Mayor Quinton Lucas called it 'another major victory for the city's rapidly expanding film industry,' in a post on X, in which he appears to be sporting a blue Ted Lasso hat. Additional filming is also set to take place across the pond in London. Apple TV posted a video on Instagram of Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins), Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton), Juno Temple (Keeley Jones) and Sudeikis are sitting in what appears to be a booth at a traditional American restaurant as some of the key members of AFC Richmond get ready to film a scene. The caption reads: 'We're not in Richmond anymore. Ted Lasso Season 4 is now in production.' The streaming service confirmed back in March that there would be a fourth season. The show has won 13 Emmy Awards and has received a total of 61 Emmy nominations. Barbecue sauce. What can fans expect in Season 4? At the end of Season 3, Ted ends up returning to the U.S. after coaching the fictional AFC Richmond soccer team in London in order to be closer to his son, Henry. The streaming service indicates on its website what fans can expect in the highly anticipated new season: 'Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women's football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.' Do we know when Season 4 will be released or if there's an official trailer? So far, Apple TV+ says a release date for Season 4 is coming soon. No official trailer has been released yet, aside from this week's teaser. Which characters will return? Even though they're not pictured in the promo image, the wise Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) and Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) will be back. Grant Feely will replace Gus Turner as Ted's son, Henry. Other newcomers to join the cast in roles that have yet to be revealed include: Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey and Abbie Hern. Who is not returning? Fan favorites like Nick Mohammed (Nate Shelley) and Phil Dunster (Jamie Tartt) along with Sarah Niles (Dr. Sharon Fieldstone), Anthony Head (Rupert Mannion), Toheeb Jimoh (Sam Obisanya), James Lance (Trent Crimm), Cristo Fernández (Dani Rojas), Kola Bokinni (Isaac McAdoo) and Billy Harris (Colin Hughes) weren't named as regular returning characters in Season 4.
