One Piece's Kaido why he's still one of the strongest characters here's why
In the vast universe of One Piece, where any and every powerful warrior can be the fiercest of them all, one name loomed largest—Kaido. In addition to being known as the 'Strongest Creature in the World,' Kaido's character is more than just muscle and mayhem.
He's one of the most prominent forces to invade and whose strength rocked the entire One Piece universe. Fans are still in a constant debate about how Kaido is probably the most powerful pirate we've ever encountered.
For anyone who doesn't know, One Piece is a 20+ year old anime and manga phenomenon about pirates looking for the greatest treasure in the world. Among them are the Yonko—'Emperors of the Sea'—the toughest, most badass pirate lords to sail under the skull and crossbones.
Kaido was one of those people. No one has even come close to the legacy and power that Kaido has left behind.
Here's a look at why Kaido is still one of the most powerful One Piece characters of all time and why fans in both the US and UK just can't get enough of him.
Kaido's insane strength makes him a legend
Often nicknamed the 'World's Strongest Creature,' Kaido's abilities are something we've never seen in the series.
He made his debut in One Piece Chapter 795 (August 3, 2015) and quickly basked in the spotlight by surviving a deadly, sky-high drop with no damage done.

His strength doesn't stop at just being durable.
Kaido's Power Highlights:
Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit: Kaido consumed the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu—a dragon fruit that allows him to turn into a huge Eastern-style dragon. Arguably one of the strongest and most elusive fruits in the series, it's one of the rarest.
High-Level Haki Mastery: Haki is an incredibly important power system in One Piece that allows users to tap into and control their spirit energy. Kaido had perfected all three advanced forms, with the destructive Conqueror's Haki being the most lethal.
Unprecedented Stamina Kaido, who had defeated the Red Scabbards, the other Worst Generation pirates, and Luffy several times before being defeated himself—with the caveat that he was, you know, physically holding the entire floating island in the sky during most of those bouts.
Defeated Luffy (Twice) Kaido went on to beat Luffy three different times, even withstanding the inaugural round of Gear 5, Luffy's last and most powerful metamorphosis.
Luffy beat Kaido—But only after a long, brutal fight
Luffy's last victory in the Wano arc created a historical precedent. Most viewers still feel Kaido lost solely because he was already worn out after battling 24/7 for several hours straight.
Despite Luffy's most potent transformation, Gear 5 — a form so powerful it allows Luffy to warp reality itself — Kaido fought on. He survived longer than Luffy in their initial encounter in this form, even pushing him out of Gear 5.
Fan Theories:
Many supporters in US and UK anime communities feel as though Kaido could have come out on top had he begun at full strength. His stamina, strength, and mastery of Haki eclipsed all but a select few—perhaps the great pirate icons of yore.
How Kaido compares to Whitebeard, Roger, and other One Piece legends
Once we place Kaido alongside other OD level characters like Gol D. Roger, Whitebeard, and Rocks D. Xebec, the power gap becomes especially intriguing.
Roger & Whitebeard: These two legends are seen as the most powerful ever—but we never saw them fight in their prime. Even Kaido himself held their power in awe.
Oden, as quoted in The New York Times. Oden dealt Kaido one of his most significant wounds, albeit a much younger Kaido at that time. Kaido wins the fandom rematch Perhaps most perplexing to One Piece fans on a narrative level is what transpired between the recently reformed Yonko Kaido and the Straw Hat captain Luffy during the own series' battle royale.
Rocks D. Xebec Rocks who had once commanded Kaido, Big Mom and Whitebeard. It required the combined forces of Roger and Garp to bring him down. If Rocks was indeed more powerful than Kaido, then it raises questions about just how powerful the former Yonko was.
Kaido is still the only Yonko we've seen taking on wave after wave of strong enemies—in a one-on-one—and still standing.
Why Kaido remains a popular villain in the west
Kaido's refreshing lack of tact, blunt approach to absolutism, and sheer desire to throw hands at everyone around him set him apart from other baddies. Unlike any of his compatriots, Kaido wanted the strongest to rule all above else, telling his capture
'Only Haki can transcend all.'
This created a double-edged sword that set him apart even among the Yonko. Kaido's backstory, legacy and raw badassery paint him as the ideal choice for UK and US fans who tend to vote for the cool, powerful, almost invincible bad guys.
Kaido's legacy is a long ways from over
One Piece fans continue to argue if Kaido even lost at full strength. Although he can be lethal even without his dragon form, which is a huge advantage in battle, with unrivaled endurance, skill in Haki, and the power of a Mythical Zoan fruit, Kaido remains one of the most dangerous War Lords in all of One Piece.
As One Piece sails into its final arc, don't be shocked if Kaido's name—and certainly his legacy—pops up once more.

Here's what Kamala Harris did to shut out negativity post 2024 election loss against Trump
Kamala Harris, long known as a self-described foodie, is no stranger to the comforting power of a good meal. After losing the 2024 presidential election to Donald Trump, Harris found herself overwhelmed by a wave of negativity. Instead of diving back into the news cycle, she turned to cooking shows for escape. Harris on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Kamala Harris appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert for her first televised interview since the election loss. Colbert commented, 'First of all, you look rested.' Harris joked that she was, and after asking about Colbert himself, she discussed how she managed the aftermath of her defeat. When asked, 'How long before you turned on the news again?' Harris replied: 'Months, Months, I, you know, I'm just not into self‑mutilation, and I just, I, yeah, lots of cooking shows.' She added that 'The Kitchen', a cooking show where hosts prepare simple dinners, play trivia, and share meal tips, is 'one of my favorites.' Cooking as comfort and control For Kamala Harris, the kitchen isn't just a place for food, it's where she regains her sense of self. In the chaos that followed her 2024 election defeat, cooking offered her something rare: control. Back when she was crisscrossing the country as a senator, Harris once said, 'Everything else can be crazy, I can be on six planes in one week, and what makes me feel normal is making Sunday‑night family dinner.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like New Container Houses Cyprus (Prices May Surprise You) Container House | Search ads Search Now Undo That same instinct led her back to the stove after the loss, when she could barely bring herself to watch the news. Instead of spiraling, she turned to flavors, textures, and recipes. Her love for cooking traces back to her mother, Shyamala Gopalan, who told her early on, 'Kamala, you clearly like to eat good food. You better learn how to cook.' It stuck. Over the years, Harris built up a collection of cookbooks, favorites include Marcella Hazan and Alice Waters, and has even talked about writing one of her own someday. During the campaign trail, that passion showed up online. Her short series 'Cooking With Kamala' gave viewers a peek into her unpolished, everyday kitchen self. She chopped onions with practiced ease, cracked eggs one‑handed, and even swapped spice jar stories with Mindy Kaling while making masala dosa. From YouTube to the home kitchen During her 2020 campaign, Harris hosted a short YouTube series called 'Cooking With Kamala.' She confidently demonstrated cooking skills, like cracking an egg one-handed and slicing onions, earning praise even from chef Tom Colicchio. In one viral video, she and actress Mindy Kaling prepared masala dosa and discovered that both grew up storing spices in Taster's Choice jars. Her home kitchen reflects her passion: enamel skillets, a gas stove, and a crock full of cooking tools, signs of someone who cooks often and joyfully.
