WWE Night Of Champions 2025 Highlights, Winners And Grades From Saudi Arabia
Cody Rhodes Def. Randy Orton
English may not be their first language, but fans in Saudi Arabia sang every word to both Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes' theme songs. Both Rhodes and Randy were cheered wildly during their entrances.
Fans went back and forth chanting for Cody and Randy, but eventually settled into 'RKO' chants. The two stars paused as fans went into business for themselves with an 'ole' chants.
Rhodes went to the top rope early and paid for it as Orton answered with a superplex. Orton sold his lower back after hitting the move as Cole played it up by saying 'perhaps it seized up again.' Rhodes, playing a de facto heel, immediately went after Orton's back.
Fans actually booed Cody Rhodes as he wrapped Orton's back around the post. Wade Barrett said we were seeing a different side of Cody Rhodes.
Orton sold his back brilliantly, struggling to hook the leg after making a spirited comeback.
Orton kicked out of the Cross Rhodes, and moments later, Rhodes walked into an RKO for another nearfall. Orton teased a punt to a huge reaction, but he hesitated like Rhodes at WrestleMania 41. Fans chanted 'Yes!' prompting Orton to go for the kick, only to miss and get trapped in a Figure 4.
Cody ate a second RKO while going for the Cody Cutter, but he kicked out in a great false finish.
Babyface Orton brought a steel chair into the ring, and when the referee absconded with it, Orton exposed the steel turnbuckle. Cody rammed Randy into the turnbuckle and won the match.
Rhea Ripley Def. Raquel Rodriguez
Rhea Ripley and Raquel Rodriguez were dressed in similar full-bodied gear, which made it seem like a tag team getting into a fight.
Ripley took a scary bump early in the match, but the referee checked on her immediately and she was okay.
After teasing a table spot, Rhea knocked Raquel off the table and went for a somersault. Rodriguez caught Ripley and slammed her through a table cover propped up on the barricade.
Ripley took off her belt and whipped the hell out of Raquel Rodriguez, but in a bodysuit, it didn't look all that painful.
Roxanne Perez hit the ring and attacked Rhea Ripley after her recent alliance with Raquel. Perez took a suplex on the outside for her troubles. The distraction led to Rodriguez throwing Ripley into the steel steps.
After Rodriguez propped up a table on the top rope, Ripley won the match with a Riptide from atop the table.
Sami Zayn Def. Karrion Kross
Fans were really into Sami Zayn, but they treated Karrion Kross like 2023 Karrion Kross. I guess Internet wrestling promos doesn't translate Arabic just yet.
Kross got a lot of offense, including Doomsday Saito and a Death Valley Driver. Zayn countered a Kross Hammer with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a nearfall.
Sami worked Riyadh into a frenzy while setting up for a Helluva Kick, only to be intercepted by Kross and trapped in a rear-naked choke. Saudi exploded when Sami raised his arm and fought out of the choke.
Kross trash-talked Zayn in the corner, but Sami hit the Helluva Kick as an arrogant Kross ran to the opposite turnbuckle.
Solo Sikoa Def. Jacob Fatu
This match moved slowly with several rest holds, almost as if they were saving some of the bigger spots for down the road.
The match got interesting when Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa returned, followed by the debut of the unnamed Hikuleo, who chokeslammed Fatu on the table. Solo won the US Title with the Samoan Spike and the new Bloodline reformed.
Jade Cargill Def. Asuka
Asuka was very popular in Saudi Arabia, while Jade Cargill was booed. Cargill seemed fired up by the icy reception in Saudi.
Fans loudly chanted for Asuka early on in the match. Her strategy was to take out Jade's legs and keep her grounded. Asuka slapped on a knee bar, but Cargill turned it into an impressive wheelbarrow suplex.
Fans backed Asuka during a striking battle, which ended with a stiff backhand from Asuka punctuated by a Codebreaker.
Asuka went for an Empress Impact during a comeback, but Jade countered with a Jaded for the win. Fans were deflated with the result, but that's their problem.
John Cena Def. CM Punk
Both John Cena and CM Punk got babyface reactions, but Cena was cheered more.
The pace was slow early, with each wrestler exchanging holds, including AJ Lee's Black Widow from CM Punk.
After an exchange of finishers, Cena accidentally took out referee Dan Engler. This brought out Money in the Bank winner Seth Rollins and his unnamed faction.

June 27 (UPI) -- K-pop group Aespa released their first single of 2025 on Friday. The South Korean singers dropped the song "Dirty Work," as well as an English version, and a remix with Flo Milli. In the music video, Karina, Giselle, Winter and Ningning perform in an apparent prison. "Real bad business, that's dirty work," they sing. A previously issued press release described the concept as "a fresh contrast to their usual powerful charm."

Hikuleo Debuts At WWE Night Of Champions, Costs Jacob Fatu The US Title

Solo Sikoa had a lot of backup this afternoon, including the WWE debut of Hikuleo to defeat Jacob Fatu for the United States Championship. The numbers game was against the Samoan Werewolf at Night of Champions when Sikoa enlisted the help of JC Mateo, the returning Tanga Loa, and the debuting Hikuleo to become the new United States Champion for the first time. Advertisement The finish of the match saw Hikuleo get involved when the referee's back was turned. He chokeslammed Jacob Fatu on the commentary table before tossing him into Sikoa, who hit the Samoan Spike to pick up the pinfall victory. It should be noted that Michael Cole and Wade Barrett refused to call him by his New Japan name. So, another potential name change could be on the horizon. What WWE might use is anyone's guess, but they did trademark the name Talla Tonga last year. Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more on Hikuleo's WWE debut as it becomes available. The Squid Game Season 3 VIPs Were More Cringe Than Ever — Why Did Bad Line Readings Slip Through Again…?

The following contains spoilers for Season 3 of , now streaming on Netflix. Almost exactly midway through 2025, we have a candidate for TVLine's annual Dumbest Line of Dialogue of the Year 'award'. More from TVLine Squid Game Recruits Oscar Winner to Bring Series Finale to a Tantalizing Close, Tease Potential U.S. Edition Dept. Q Makes Nielsen Streaming Top 10 Debut - and With a Decidedly Older Audience Save the Dates: The Chicken Sisters Season 2, Mom on Netflix and More '!' Squid Game Season 3 VIP That goofy observation came to us courtesy of one of the golden-masked VIPs in Squid Game Season 3, now streaming on Netflix. The idea behind the VIPs, I presume, is that somebody has to finance this highly illegal and incredibly deadly underground competition that dangles a 45.6 billion won (~$34 million) jackpot and comes with a pretty pricey infrastructure (guard salary/health plans, wardrobe, single-use coffins, Velcro patches, etc). And if you're going to front the Front Man some of those greenbacks, you deserve a front row seat for the competition's final rounds. But just as much as Squid Game Season 3 masterfully ratcheted up the on-screen tension with a version of Jump Rope that got my own trick knee quaking, every iota of pent-up drama dissipated from the room each time they cut away to the masked VIPs' reactions and utterly inane commentary. 'You have the father, the mother and the baby all in the same game? I mean…,' remarked the long-haired VIP (aka TEMU Ellis from Die Hard), before he mimed his mind being blown. 'It's like watching one of those family reality shows,' sniffed the grey bearded VIP. VIP jJnnifer tittered before chiming in, 'I must say, I'm quite impressed with the player pool this time.' Squid Game's Season 3 VIPs were a different lot from those we who made us cringe during Season 1. According to the closing credits and Google Translate, David Sayers played Richard; Hong Kong native Jane Wong played Jennifer; Jordan Lambertoni played Zach; Kevin Yorn (who reportedly is series creator/writer/director Hwang Dong Hyuk's lawyer!) played, well, Kevin; and a 'Bryan Bucco' played Zach. Thing is, Squid Game auteur Hwang Dong Hyuk absolutely knows what he's doing — his directing of Season 1 won an Emmy, while his writing earned a nomination. So, why are the VIP scenes so very, very bad? They're not cartoonish in a fun way, nor do they effectively serve as social satire. The VIP scenes could have been additive to the series, if, imagine, a Stellan Skarsgård type growled a wry observation during Sky Squid Game. Or if the actors/lawyer at hand were not done so dirty by the dialogue and editing. But apparently zero lessons were learned, or cared to be learned, from Season 1. Which is… a choice? How'd Squid Game End? Our Recap of the Unusual Season-Finale Showdown View List The matter of the painfully bad VIP scenes came up at the time of Season 1's release, and the actors from that troupe offered up theories on why the dialogue and line readings made our ears want to crawl up and die. 'Non-Korean performers often act with dialogue that is translated by a non-native – sometimes even by Google Translate — so it can sound unnatural,' one Season 1 VIP told the Guardian in fall 2021. It's also possible that the person editing the footage doesn't speak English as a first language, and thus might use a poor take. 'If I was editing a Russian actor speaking Russian, I wouldn't have any idea if he was saying his lines correctly,' said the Season 1 VIP above, 'or if his intonation was natural.' A second Season 1 VIP told the Guardian that 'heavy plaster masks' plus 'sitting 20 feet away from each other' added up to: 'We all had to yell our lines vaguely into the air, which added to the weird tonality of the delivery.' To recap, the VIP scenes: Were poorly written, and poorly acted (or edited) Reliably killed tension Were not dramatic in and of themselves (e.g. the inclusion of the baby could have been a point of debate… but wasn't) Told us nothing we could not have presumed about the game's backers (e.g. they're deplorable, shallow), and Arguably made the Front Man less menacing, the way he quietly did these idiots' bidding So… why did we get them again, at the same quality level, in Season 3?
