Mom Thought Her Toddler Was Just Playing. Then Something Caught Her Eye (Exclusive)
They were being silly and listening to nursery rhymes when all of a sudden, Addy started dancing
Alex watched as her daughter slid off the bed and began doing little high-kick stompsAlex Moore and her husband, Christian, both work full-time. So after wrapping up their workdays and picking up their daughter from daycare, the North Carolina-based couple likes to wind down by laying in bed to decompress.
One evening, Christian went to make dinner while Alex stayed back to play with their 23-month-old daughter, Addy. They were being silly and listening to nursery rhymes when all of a sudden, Addy started dancing. Alex watched as her daughter slid off the bed and began doing little high-kick stomps.
"I had no idea what she was doing until she said 'cha cha??' " Alex, 31, tells PEOPLE exclusively.
Alex goes on to explain that her daughter learned the "Cha-Cha Slide" by DJ Casper at daycare. She says her teacher, Ms. Mikaila, plays the song often and has been teaching the kids the steps.
Although Ms. Mikaila had previously sent Alex videos of Addy dancing along to the "Cha-Cha Slide" at daycare, this was the first time she had seen her daughter perform some of the correct steps in person — especially the stomping and the 'hands on your knees' move.
"She was walking around stomping her feet with almost a high-kick fashion, and I kept giggling because I'd never seen her stomp like that before," Alex, a aesthetics technician, says.
In the moment, Alex pulled out her phone and recorded the sweet scene. Later, she decided to post it to TikTok, thinking, 'This is too good to not share with more people.'
But then, the video quickly went viral, amassing more than 7.4 million views and 13,000 comments.
"I knew she was demanding the cha cha slide at daycare' is in incredible statement in itself 😭," one user wrote.
"and it is educational...she already knows her left and right ✅️❤️," someone else replied.
Another person commented, "That's actually so impressive that she knows the cha cha slide at her age .. what an icon."
Reading through the comments, Alex says she couldn't help but smile.
"The kind of responses I've received from the video are the exact ones I was hoping," she says. " 'This made my day, thank you so much.' It was an added bonus to hear that my daughter could excel in a dance class, because what parent doesn't want to hear that their child has a knack for something?"
"My daughter brings me so much joy every day, so I really loved that I could do that for other people," the mom adds. "Also hearing from other daycare employees that they'll start implementing the song into their classrooms for teaching directions, and dance teachers that she has amazing skills for her age — that feedback really stood out to me the most."
Since her daughter is so young, Alex knows won't remember much from this time, but in teaching her about it in a few years, she hopes her daughter realizes that she made a lot of people smile when they felt like they couldn't.
"Addy has taught me that children truly are like flowers: when they're given a loving environment, taught things with patience and in a fun way, they can blossom into the best versions of themselves," she says. "Along with truly being able to dance your little heart out when you feel it!"

Shocking "SpongeBob" Truth That Ruins Childhoods
It's pretty earth-shattering to realise something cooked about your favourite childhood shows, especially when there's something involved. In the words of one of the most iconic theme songs of the 21st century, "Are you ready kids?" To sum up the realisation — Choppa put crab meat on a burger and finally understood why Mr. Krabs was gatekeeping the Krabby Patty Secret Formula. The money-hungry restaurant mogul would put his own species (crabs) into burgers to "make a killing on the expensive market-priced delicacy". Chilling stuff. This would explain why we don't really see other crabs on the show beside the group known as the Penny Pinchers. But it wasn't just this revelation that stunned viewers — the comments on the video were a cocktail of mind-blowing observations and sea creature knowledge that added to the further destruction of our childhoods. Here are the comments that made us question everything: "The Krusty Krab is literally a crab trap", so obviously that explains everything! —TikTok/@xxladysithxx "Squidward was so addicted to [Krabby Patties], because a cephalopod's favourite food is crab meat." —TikTok/@chibara01 "If you remember the 'Respect Your Elders' episode, Krabs literally has a graveyard of all his family outside the Krusty Krab." —TikTok/@graysonalexander99 "[Mr Krabs] was the only crab and when others came, they disappeared." —TikTok/@user064382357 "I watched a four-hour deep dive into Spongebob and a theory is that the secret recipe was whale meat — when they pass they can be used as a food source to fish for decades, and Mr Krabs was saving Pearl for the next time he ran out of stock." —TikTok/@user173869011 "Some crabs can regrow claws, so technically they are sustainable as long as you're using specific crabs." —TikTok/@jesselazard "Spongebob knew and helped him cover it up." —TikTok/@somosogo And finally, "There's an episode where Mr. Krabs finally tastes a Krabby Patty and was like, ' that's what I taste like'." —TikTok/@xxladysithxx This entire think really makes you think — is Plankton really the villain, or is he just trying to stop injustice?

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Spotted on Ohio Date as They ‘Soak Up Every Minute' Together
THE RUNDOWN Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were in New York City this Saturday, enjoying dinner out. This evening, photos emerged of the couple out again—this time in Ohio, Kelce's home state. DeuxMoi ran a photo of the pair having a lunch date. Swift stood out in a white blouse and tan pleated skirt. She had her hair up in a ponytail, while Kelce had his back turned to the camera. The sighting comes the same day People published a new report on Kelce and Swift's nearly two-year relationship—and how the past few months have changed it for the better. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end and singer have been enjoying their downtime from work together, with Swift having wrapped her Eras Tour in December. Kelce finished his NFL season at the Super Bowl this February. He'll return to training camp later this summer. The pair has spent the majority of this time out of the public eye, but they are thriving in private. 'It's been a turning point for their relationship in a lot of ways,' People's source explained. 'They're incredibly happy and in sync. There's a calmness and ease to their relationship right now that's been really grounding for Taylor and Travis.' The insider added, 'Taylor and Travis are soaking up every minute of this slower season together. They've been splitting their time between New York, Nashville, and a few quiet getaways, just enjoying each other's company without all the usual chaos. This kind of downtime is rare for both of them, and it's really allowed their bond to deepen.' The source also spoke about how momentous it was for Swift to buy the masters for her first six albums. 'Having Travis by her side for that milestone made it even more special,' the insider said. 'He was honored to support her, and he wouldn't have wanted it any other way.'

'Seize this moment': Pope Leo XIV's hometown approves purchase of house where he grew up
Burt Odelson, Dolton's attorney who orchestrated the deal, told USA TODAY that the owner of the house agreed to sell at an undisclosed price amid threats of Dolton taking the house via eminent domain. DOLTON, IL – The tiny hamlet where Pope Leo XIV was raised landed a miracle on July 1 after a village board approved the purchase of the house where he grew up, a move they hope will spark a revival for the blighted small town. The Dolton Village Board approved the purchase at a special meeting on July 1, marking a coup for the small town that's experienced rough decades amid a loss of manufacturing jobs and a previous corrupt mayor. Many thought Dolton didn't have the money or political will to land the little ranch house where Leo played priest as a young Robert Francis Prevost. "We can either seize this moment and move forward or let it go to an investor," said Dolton Mayor Jason House, addressing the crowd at the public meeting. "You cannot cut your way out of a deficit — you have to make sure you have economic opportunities." Childhood homes of Leo's predecessors have also become museums and pilgrimage sites, drawing hundreds of thousands of people. It's expected that Leo's house will also become a museum or shrine, USA TODAY previously reported. People from around the country have already begun treating it as a pilgrimage site. Some began arriving within hours of the announcement that Leo had become pope on May 8. Attorney on the deal: 'This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity' Dolton's approval of the purchase also comes as a surprise — the house was in the process of being sold at an auction that was supposed to close July 17, according to the listing. Village attorney Burt Odelson, who orchestrated the deal, told USA TODAY that the homeowner agreed to sell outside of the auction. Auctioneer Paramount Realty, a New York-based firm known for selling the childhood home of President Donald Trump for over $2 million, did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's requests for comment. Homeowner Paweł Radzik did not immediately respond either. Odelson declined to share the final price but said it was "significantly lower than what they thought they would get." He said he had secured financing for the purchase and that the paperwork would be completed in about a week. The prominent Chicago attorney said the owner agreed to sell in response to threats that Dolton would take the house via eminent domain. Odelson described the coup as a capstone in his decades-long career. "Even for me, who's done a lot and seen a lot, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," said the South Side Chicago native. "I've dealt with presidents, senators, mayors, but there's always another one. Not for this— he's the only American pope." The Pope Leo effect: Many US Catholics don't fully practice their faith. Could Leo's papacy change that?
