Montreal weather: Here's what to expect for the weekend — and the rest of July

Montreal Gazette6 hours ago
Environment Canada has issued a July temperature outlook — and June lookback — that shows above-average temperatures for midsummer.
The map, which appears on WeatherCAN, shows Montreal in the centre of a dark orange block, indicating higher than average temperatures for June. This is in line with their three-month map, which shows the region edging into the reds, indicating a very high chance of hotter temperatures.
Montrealers will get a taste of that Friday, with a high of 26 C, a humidex of 28 C and a UV index of 8, or very high. At night, expect a low of 17 C. Saturday will look a lot like Friday, and showers are expected for Sunday.
June's ups and downs evened out in the end, Environment Canada says, with only slightly above average temperatures in southern Quebec despite 'the season's first muggy heat event' — not quite a heat wave, but certainly not comfortable for most.

Heat warning issued for Toronto this weekend

People soak in the sun over looking Lake Ontario on a warm sunny day at Woodbine Beach in Toronto on Tuesday, May 25, 2021. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Nathan Denette A heat warning has been issued for Toronto and much of southern Ontario this weekend, with temperatures set to feel like 40 with the humidity. Environment Canada issued the alert Friday afternoon and said daytime highs of 31 C to 33 C are expected on both Saturday and Sunday. 'Take action to protect yourself and others – extreme heat can affect everyone's health," the national weather agency said in the alert. Officials say there will be 'little relief' overnight Saturday, when the temperature will only drop to between 21 C and 25 C. The heat is expected to break Sunday night. This is a breaking news story. A previous version of this story follows below. Toronto is in for a hot weekend. The temperature will climb to 32 C on Saturday and Sunday, but the humidity will make it feel closer to 40. Both days will see cloudy periods, with a 30 per cent chance of showers on Saturday and a 40 per cent chance on Sunday. 'The weekend will bring back some steamy weather with highs in the low 30s, feeling close to 40,' CP24 Meteorologist Bill Coulter said Friday. 'A few showers or T-showers could bubble up in the afternoon on Saturday. Sunday will again be hot and humid with a slight risk for evening showers.' Coulter said it could feel as hot as 39 on Saturday and 40 on Sunday due to the humidity. The heat is expected to break slightly on Monday, when the high will reach 27 C, and remain close to that mark for most of the week. Friday's forecast is calling for sunny conditions and a high of 28 C. The humidity will make it feel as hot as 32 and the UV index is listed at 9 or 'very high' for the day. 'Friday is looking bright and beautiful with a light wind and low humidity,' Coulter said.

Brace for the heat and humidity this weekend

Simcoe County is set to experience a scorching hot weekend, with temperatures and humidity levels expected to soar once again. According to Environment Canada, Friday's forecast calls for plenty of sunshine with a high of 27C, but the humidex will make it feel more like 33C. The real heat is expected to blanket the region Saturday, with temperatures climbing to 31C, with the humidex making it feel more like 40C - which are the perfect ingredients for a potential thunderstorm in the afternoon. Residents are advised to stay cool and hydrated throughout the day. The heat will start to dissipate by Sunday, with cloudy skies and a 60 per cent chance of showers. Temperatures will dip slightly to 28C, with overnight lows hovering around 19C. The humidex is a measure of how hot it feels outside when temperature and humidity are combined. It's calculated by factoring in both the air temperature and the moisture levels. When the humidex value is high, it can feel significantly hotter than the actual temperature.
