BJP ignoring fee hikes by private schools: AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj
NEW DELHI: AAP Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bharadwaj on Wednesday strongly criticised the BJP-led administration in the capital, accusing it of working hand-in-hand with private schools and ignoring repeated complaints about unfair fee hikes.
At a press conference, Bharadwaj highlighted an incident in Dwarka where a private school allegedly expelled 34 students after their parents protested against increased fees.
'These students were stopped at the school gate and sent back home. This is not an isolated case, it shows a bigger problem,' he said.
He further alleged that students whose parents have not paid the hiked fees are being publicly humiliated by teachers. 'This kind of treatment inside classrooms is deeply disturbing,' Bharadwaj added. Blaming the BJP government for inaction, he said that reports of fee irregularities had been submitted by committees under SDMs and DMs, but no steps were taken. 'Why are these audit reports being kept from the public?' he asked. Bharadwaj also claimed that school managements are using bouncers to scare parents who are protesting. He alleged that many school owners and directors are linked to the BJP and even hold party positions.
In a post on X (formerly twitter), he shared a video of security guards outside a Dwarka school, calling it the 'new normal' for Delhi's middle class under BJP rule.
Meanwhile, families of 31 students from the same school said their children were denied entry even though they had paid the fees online.

BJP reiterates demand for public apology from Congress for imposing Emergency; panel to look into Kolkata law college rape
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Saturday reiterated its demand for a public apology from the Congress for imposing the Emergency on the occasion of its 50th anniversary observed recently. Addressing a press conference at the party's national headquarters, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra accused the Congress of trying to mislead the people over the issue despite proof that it had made changes to the Constitution under the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's watch during the period. He also announced the formation of a four-member fact-finding committee tasked with visiting West Bengal in the aftermath of the rape incident at a law college in Kolkata. The committee, constituted on the instructions of BJP president J P Nadda, includes former Union minister and Mumbai police commissioner Satya Pal Singh, ex-Delhi MP Meenakshi Lekhi, Lok Sabha MP Biplab Deb and Rajya Sabha MP Manan Kumar Mishra. The Mamata Banerjee government in Bengal believes it has no accountability… The guard room which should be one of protection is where the rape happened. Nothing can be more horrible than this,' he said, announcing the formation of the fact-finding committee. 'There is no doubt that absolutely everyone is pained at what is happening there…Mamata Banerjee should tender both an apology and her resignation. Such treatment of women is simply unacceptable,' he added.

West Bengal: Another key accused arrested in Kaliganj blast case, says police
Nadia (West Bengal) [India], June 28 (ANI): The West Bengal police have arrested another key accused in the Kaliganj bomb blast case in the Molandi area of Borochandghar under Kaliganj police station limits. The blast, which resulted in the tragic death of a minor girl, has now led to the arrest of a total of 9 individuals connected to the case. According to the police, the accused has been identified as Gaowal SK. 'In a late-night development, Gaowal SK, one of the key accused in the Kaliganj bomb blast case, was arrested by the Police. With this, the total number of arrests in the case has reached nine, out of the 24 individuals named in the FIR,' the West Bengal police said in an official statement. Earlier, on June 24, Krishnanagar police arrested four individuals in connection with the incident. The arrested accused were Adar Sk, Manowar Sk, Kalu Sk, and Anwar Sk. 'In an incident of explosion at Molandi, Borochandghar under Kaliganj police station area, which led to the death of a minor girl, 4 prime accused persons were arrested yesterday- Adar Sk, Manowar Sk, Kalu Sk and Anwar Sk. Kaliganj PS Case No. 534/25 dt 23.06.25 u/s 191(2)/191(3)/190/118(2)/109/305/103 BNS & 3/4 ES Act is registered. Investigation and legal proceedings are underway,' the police said in a post on X. On June 25, BJP MP Samik Bhattacharya made serious allegations regarding the blast, termed it as a 'well-thought-out attack' rather than a mere bomb blast, further claiming that the family targeted in the incident was not a voter or supporter of the Trinamool Congress (TMC). 'It was not a bomb explosion. It was a well-thought-out attack. The family on which the bomb was dropped is not a Trinamool Congress voter or a supporter. They were identified, then the bomb was thrown at father of the deceased child is saying that he is giving 24 hours' time and if there is no solution, then he will demand a CBI inquiry,' BJP MP said. A 13-year-old girl died in a bomb explosion during a victory procession organised by Trinamool Congress in Kaliganj police station area after the party swept Kaliganj Assembly bypoll. In a post on X, West Bengal police confirmed that the 13-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries sustained from the explosion. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed shock over the incident and directed police to 'take strong and decisive legal action' against the culprits. (ANI)
