Veteran actress
Padmini Kolhapure
is all set to grace the screen in a regal avatar as Rajmata in the upcoming period drama "Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan."
Kolhapure shared insights into the extensive research and preparation that went into bringing this historical character to life.
Speaking about getting into the skin of the character, Padmini shared, "Playing Rajmata in Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my career.
She's not just a historical figure; she's a mother, a guide, and a strong presence behind one of India's greatest warriors. To understand her better, I didn't rely only on the script. I read historical texts, folk stories, and scholarly articles and even watched regional documentaries to get a sense of how she might have carried herself."
"Interestingly, my phone now only recommends content related to Prithviraj and stories from that era; I've done that much research. What stood out to me was her quiet strength. She may not have been on the battlefield, but her role was just as important. As a mother myself, I related to the emotional weight she must have carried and the strength it would have taken to stay composed during difficult times. It's a big responsibility to bring her story to life, and I've tried to make sure every gesture and moment reflects her journey as truthfully as possible," she added.
The show "Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan" marks Padmini Kolhapure's much-awaited return to television after 11 years, where she will be seen portraying the dignified and powerful role of Rajmata. This grand historical drama brings to life the remarkable journey of Prithviraj Chauhan, charting his transformation from a young, naive prince to a revered warrior king. The series delves into his formative years, capturing the challenges, victories, and pivotal events that helped shape his enduring legacy.
The show also stars Anuja Sathe, Ronit Roy, and Rumi Khan. It will premiere on 4th June on Sony Entertainment Television.

According to PTI, the petition sought a legal restraint on Kamal Haasan from delivering "defamatory remarks" about the language and its cultural roots. The court ordered Kamal Haasan to be barred from 'posting, making, writing, or publishing any statement or remarks claiming linguistic superiority over the Kannada language or making any statements against the Kannada language, literature, land, and culture.' The court has also issued a summons to the actor, directing him to appear in person for the next hearing, which has been scheduled for August 30. The uproar intensified when Haasan refused to retract his statement or issue an apology. Thug Life ultimately did not release in Karnataka, even though the production house and Kamal Haasan approached the High Court. Metro…In Dino Opens To Positive Reviews, Collects Rs 3.35 Crore On Day 1

Metro…In Dino explores modern love and relationships across different age groups and cities, with a focus on themes of commitment, infidelity and second chances in a relationship. Metro…In Dino, the Anurag Basu directorial musical romantic drama anthology that hit the theatres on July 4, opened to positive reviews from fans and critics alike. Despite a favourable word of mouth, the film got a slow start at the box office. According to the film minted Rs 3.35 crore Nett in India on its first day. While the film had a modest turnout in morning and afternoon shows, it picked up a significant pace by evening and night. The Hindi-language drama had an overall occupancy rate of 17.99 per cent on its first day, with night shows leading the way at 31.09 per cent. Evening shows also contributed significantly, allowing the film to finish the day with respectable numbers for a non-action, dialogue-driven ensemble feature. Going by the reviews, Metro…In Dino's collection is likely to grow significantly in the coming days. One of the key reasons for the film's slow start could be its box office clash with the Hollywood action thriller, Jurassic World: Rebirth starring Scarlett Johansson. It collected a whopping Rs 9 crore net in India on Day 1. Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Anurag Basu, the film features an ensemble cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta and Saswata Chatterjee. The film is a spiritual continuation of Basu's 2007 anthology Life in a… Metro. Coming back to Anurag Basu, his next film is with Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela. The untitled romantic drama will be released in theatres on the occasion of Diwali. New Telugu movies stream illegally in HD: 100+ piracy sites active; TFCC filed 15 complaints in 18 months

HYDERABAD: A quick glance at movie piracy websites—some accessible directly in India and others only through VPNs— reveals a grim picture for the Telugu film industry: nearly all the latest Telugu releases are freely available in HD and DVD-quality formats for streaming or torrent download. Despite the industry's best efforts, no big-budget or hit Telugu film is immune. According to anti-video piracy cell of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, around 100 active piracy websites are currently in operation, offering illegal access to newly released films. As of now, titles like Kannappa, Kubera, Badmashulu, and Thug Life—all of which released in June—are already listed for download and streaming. 1 in 2 films gets pirated On average, about 150 Telugu films are released each year, and over 50% of them are pirated. The first illegal copies often emerge from cellphone recordings inside theatres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, uploaded within hours of release. 'High definition pirated copies often come from northern states like Bihar, where cameras mounted on tripods are used inside theatres. The video and audio are recorded separately and then synced during editing before uploading,' said a TFCC representative. In many cases, the original audio is swapped in during post-editing to make the pirated version more appealing to local viewers. 10-15 plaints in 18 months Pirated prints originate from overseas screenings, especially in regions with large Telugu-speaking diaspora, making the first leak nearly impossible to contain. In the past 18 months, the TFCC's anti-piracy cell has filed 10 to 15 complaints with the Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerates, resulting in four FIRs. 'We act the moment a producer alerts us about a pirated copy circulating online,' said Y Mahindra Babu, project head of the TFCC anti-video piracy cell. 'Last year, we helped police arrest a person for uploading a pirated version of Pushpa 2 on his YouTube channel... We regularly write to I&B ministry seeking to block such websites whenever we identify them,' he said. Cyber crime officials say most piracy websites are hosted on international servers, making enforcement difficult. 'Even if one site is blocked, a mirror site appears within hours—slightly modifying URL, but keeping the same pirated content active,' an officer said
