Max Holloway interested Ilia Topuria rematch, sees 'a lot of fun fights' at 155 pounds
NEW ORLEANS – Max Holloway feels he's a man of options.
Following his unanimous decision win over Dustin Poirier this past Saturday at UFC 318, Holloway (27-8 MMA, 23-8 UFC) is very much enjoying where his "Baddest Motherf*cker" title defense is positioned in his career. Now permanently fighting at lightweight, Holloway wants to run things back with UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria, but he doesn't seem to be stressing over it.
"I've been telling you guys all week: This sport is about moments," Holloway said at the UFC 318 post-fight press conference. "This sport is about having moments. I'm glad I went in here, I had this moment, and we'll see what happens if it's Ilia. The ball is in the UFC's court. I'm down for whatever. If it's Ilia, it's Ilia. The guy that he just beat, Oliveira, I have history with. The whole top 10. There are a lot of fun fights for me at lightweight. I'm excited."
Holloway was coming off a knockout loss to Topuria heading into Saturday's UFC 318. The two fought last October in a UFC featherweight title fight. After the fight, Holloway moved up to 155 pounds – while fully closing the door on a featherweight return – and defended his "BMF" title against Poirier. Meanwhile, Topuria vacated the featherweight belt, moved up to 155 pounds, and picked up the vacant UFC lightweight belt last month with a knockout over Charles Oliveira.
Although Holloway lost the first fight against Topuria, it was for Topuria's featherweight title. Holloway's BMF belt was not officially on the line, yet the Spanish-Georgian fighter has been seen sporting one, which doesn't sit right with the BMF champ.
"When the UFC didn't put it up, it is what it is," Holloway said regarding Topuria's unofficial BMF belt. "It just makes no sense what he's doing walking around with it and whatever. Did you see Islam walking around with a champion belt after beating Volk two times? You see what I mean. The belt is mine, get over it, brother. Why you spend money on a damn belt? That's just crazy to me. I know you're rich and all, but that's just a waste of money."

Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel makes big move to rival team
Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel will leave the team where he became one of the best riders of his generation to join Red Bull–BORA–hansgrohe from next season. The 25-year-old Belgian rider informed Soudal Quick-Step that he would not extend his contract, which was due to expire at the end of 2026. The team said on Tuesday it has agreed to release him early. 'After taking some time to consult with our sponsors and partners, the team's ownership and management have decided that it is in the best interest of everyone to agree that Remco can move at the end of the current 2025 season,' Soudal Quick-Step said in a statement. Evenepoel signed with Soudal Quick-Step at a young age after the squad's former manager Patrick Lefevere spotted his immense potential. Under Lefevere's supervision, Evenepoel won prestigious races, including the 2022 Spanish Vuelta, two stages of the Tour de France and two titles at Liège-Bastogne-Liège. He finished third at the 2024 Tour de France but withdrew from this year's edition. Widely considered the best time trialist in the world, Evenepoel remains focused on winning more Grand Tours. 'Remco stands for ambition. He doesn't just want to ride — he wants to shape cycling,' said Ralph Denk, the CEO of Red Bull–BORA–hansgrohe. 'He brings not only exceptional athletic talent but also a remarkable mindset. His determination, professionalism, and relentless drive to succeed are truly inspiring.' Evenepoel's move will strengthen Red Bull–BORA–hansgrohe, where he will team up with Primož Roglič and Florian Lipowitz, who finished third in last month's Tour de France. 'Evenepoel's arrival marks more than just a milestone for Red Bull–BORA–hansgrohe, it is a clear signal,' the team said. 'With renewed confidence and bold ambition, the team is setting its course to become one of the most attractive forces on the international cycling stage in the years to come.' Evenepoel hadn't yet commented Tuesday, though he posted Red Bull–BORA–hansgrohe's 'Welcome Remco!' message on his Instagram account. A year ago in Paris, Evenepoel become the first rider to sweep the road race and time trial at the Summer Games.

Yoel Romero gets date, opponent for BKFC debut
Yoel Romero has inked his bareknuckle boxing debut. The former UFC title challenger is set to make his first appearance for BKFC against Theo Doukas at BKFC 80 on Sept. 12 at Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Fla. The bout will be contested at heavyweight. The news of Romero's debut was announced by the promotion on Tuesday. Romero, 48, signed with BKFC in July. He was coming off two KO finishes competing in Mike Perry's Dirty Boxing Championship – which is a striking competition with small gloves but doesn't involve any grappling or groundwork. "The Soldier of God" is mainly known for his 10-year run in the UFC where he fought for the middleweight title multiple times and cemented himself as one of the world's best. After his UFC departure, Romero had a short stint with Bellator and PFL, going 3-2. Although now competing in bareknuckle boxing, Romero told MMA Junkie last month that he's still looking to continue his MMA career. Romero's opponent, Doukas, will also be making his BKFC debut. Doukas has competed four times in MMA, going 2-2. His two victories have come by way of stoppage. He last competed in MMA in April 2024 and was submitted in the second round. He's also 1-0 in boxing.
