The emails had triggered panic across schools, hospitals, and key public sites including the Narendra Modi Stadium and BJ Medical College.
"She was difficult from the start, lashing out at officers and denying involvement in fluent English," said a senior cybercrime official.
According to the FIR, during questioning at the Shahibaug Cyber Crime office, Joshilda screamed, "I don't want to live, I want to die," climbed onto a table, picked up a poker, and attempted to assault officers.
One officer was reportedly suffered injury due to her nails during the scuffle. She was booked under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for assaulting public servants and obstructing govt work.
Sources in the cybercrime unit alleged that Joshilda's actions were driven by personal revenge. She allegedly targeted a male colleague she was infatuated with, after he married someone else. In a bid to frame him, she reportedly sent threats under male aliases and even linked him to false rape and terror allegations.
Joshilda, who worked with Deloitte USI, was tracked down using digital forensics despite her extensive use of VPNs, dark web tools, fake email accounts, and over 80 virtual phone numbers to mask her identity. Investigators say a minor digital slip eventually led them to her.
She was arrested from Chennai and brought to Ahmedabad. For the first two days, she cried and pleaded innocence, but later took a calmer approach, insisting she wasn't involved in any crime, said cyber crime sleuths.

Indian woman goes missing in US days after arriving for arranged marriage

A 24-year-old Indian woman has gone missing in the United States just days after she arrived there for an arranged marriage, The New York Post reported. The woman, identified as Simran Simran, landed in the US on June 20. Police in Lindenwold, New Jersey, said she was last seen in surveillance footage, apparently waiting for someone while looking at her phone. Officers said she did not appear to be in any visible distress in the video. According to the report, local investigators were told that Simran had travelled to the US for an arranged marriage. However, they are also considering the possibility that she may not have intended to marry and could have used the opportunity to make a free trip to America. Police said Simran has no family in the US and does not speak English. Her international phone works only via Wi-Fi, making it harder for her to reach out for help. She is described as being 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing around 68 kg, and having a small scar on the left side of her forehead. She was last seen wearing grey sweatpants, a white T-shirt, black flip-flops, and small diamond-studded earrings. The search for Simran is ongoing. Authorities have urged anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact them.

Kolkata law college rape case: CCTV footage corroborates victim's account, SIT expanded to 9 members

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Kolkata law college rape case has been expanded from five to nine members to expedite the investigation, police officers confirmed Sunday. The move comes as investigators make significant progress, with collected CCTV footage reportedly corroborating the statement of the first-year student of the law college who was allegedly raped on June 25 in the security guard's room on the campus. Police sources revealed that more than seven and a half hours of CCTV footage from the college's external gate and premises have been collected and meticulously examined. 'Yes, the CCTV footage… also corroborates the victim's statement,' a senior police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, told The Indian Express, specifically referring to the complainant's claim that she was prevented from leaving the college. So far, four people have been arrested in connection with the alleged rape: a contractual staffer and former student of the college, Monojit Mishra, 31; and two students, Zaib Ahmed, 19, and Pramit Mukherjee, 20; and a security guard of the college, Pinaki Banerjee. All four arrested were visible in the CCTV footage obtained by the police from the day of the alleged rape, confirming their presence at the scene, as per the police. The SIT has already applied for the confidential statements of the survivor and her parents. Bidisha Kalita, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jadavpur Division, Kolkata, along with Pradeep Kumar Ghoshal, Assistant Commissioner of Police (South Suburbs), who leads the SIT, visited the crime scene on Sunday and began an examination. Investigators have compiled a list of all those who visited the college on June 25, based on CCTV footage and witness statements. All those on this list will be questioned, with some already summoned by the police. The survivor's parents are also expected to record their confidential statements before a magistrate. A crucial development in the investigation was the reconstruction of the crime scene on Saturday for over two hours in the presence of the survivor.
