Phil Mickelson has never been one to hold back his thoughts, and on Sunday, as Scottie Scheffler led The Open Championship, Lefty decided it was time to clap back after being teased over an old comment.

Earlier this season, Scheffler was coming off a freak palm injury sustained on Christmas Day and had gone winless in his first five starts.
Around that time, Mickelson took a subtle jab while praising Joaquín Niemann's back-to-back LIV Golf wins on X. "Top 5 Try #1," the short and subtle dig aimed at the World No. 1 read.
It followed another jab where Lefty directly targeted Scheffler, posting, "Here's a hot take: Does Scottie win in 2025 before the Ryder Cup? I don't think so," per Joel Beall's screenshot on X.
Since then, Scheffler has flipped the narrative with wins at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, the Memorial Tournament, and the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow.
The LIV pro even acknowledged his misfire after Scheffler's PGA win in May. But the internet never forgets.
On Saturday, after Scheffler's bogey-free 67 and Jim "Bones" Mackay's viral comparison of Scheffler to Tiger Woods, Kevin Kisner couldn't resist.
He teased the 55-year-old on X posting, "Need the update!" on a screenshot that had Lefty's old comment.
But Mickelson fired back with a lengthy reply that read.
"Kiz, my man. I've never been afraid to make mistakes on the course or off, knowing I'll have to deal with scrutiny from the public, media, or social media," he wrote. "I've already acknowledged I was wrong on this.
This is a good example of why so many people are afraid to put themselves out there and compete or take risks because they know it'll be thrown back in their face and they can't handle it. Fortunately that's not ever been my problem. But others struggle dealing with the heat and scrutiny that professional sports and being in the public eye brings and drives many away from the game which is too bad but is reality for so many."
Kisner later replied with a nod to Mickelson's own final round, where the 2013 British Open champion posted a bogey-free 67 to finish 1-over for the tournament.
Mickelson, ever the showman, responded again.
"Thank you partner," he posted. "I believe you and I are still undefeated."
👊thank you partner. I believe you and I are still undefeated — Phil Mickelson (@PhilMickelson) July 20, 2025
Meanwhile, Scheffler opened his Sunday round with a birdie on the first hole, immediately reinforcing his grip on the leaderboard.
With a four-shot cushion and momentum on his side, the World No. 1 looked poised to claim his fourth major title. With a win, Scheffler would become the 31st player with four or more major championship victories.

(Photo by) The 2025 version of the Noche UFC fight card is scheduled for Saturday, September 13, at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. Headlining the fight is what promises to be an exciting featherweight matchup between recent UFC title challenger Diego Lopes and the surging Jean Silva. The UFC recently announced the first nine bouts for the Noche UFC fight card. Noche UFC Fight Card: Official Fights Diego Lopes (26-7) vs. Jean Silva (16-2): Featherweight Tatianna Suarez (11-1) vs. Amanda Lemos (15-4-1): Strawweight Raquel Pennington (16-10) vs. Norma Dumont (12-2): Women's bantamweight Claudio Puellas (13-4) vs. Joaquim Silva (13-6): Lightweight Edgar Chairez (12-6-0-1) vs. Alessandro Costa (14-4): Flyweight Rafa García (17-4) vs. Jared Gordon (21-7-0-1): Lightweight José Daniel Medina (11-5) vs. Duško Todorović (12-6): Middleweight Jesús Aguilar (11-3) vs. Luis Gurule (10-1): Flyweight Montserrat Rendon (6-1) vs. Alice Pereira (5-0): Women's bantamweight Noche UFC Fight Card Date: Saturday, September 13, 2025 Noche UFC Fight Card Location: Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas Noche UFC Tickets: On Sale on Friday, July 25 Noche UFC Main Event: Diego Lopes Vs. (Photo by Jeff Bottari/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images) Diego Lopes (26-7) is the No. 2 fighter in the official UFC featherweight rankings. Lopes joined the UFC in May 2023, dropping his promotional debut to Movsar Evloev via decision. Lopes followed that setback with five straight wins. A win over Brian Ortega at UFC 306 earned Lopes a shot at the vacant UFC featherweight title against former champion Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 314 in April of this year. Lopes dropped that fight by decision. After his loss, I wrote: "In my preview of this fight, I said that this matchup was too fast, too soon for Diego Lopes, but that it would prove to be a good learning experience for him. The fight essentially played out in that manner. "Lopes was a game fighter throughout the 25-minute affair, but he didn't make adjustments. His game plan was to move forward, pressure Volkanovski and land with power. That's not a bad game plan for 99 percent of the UFC featherweights, but Volkanovski is an outlier, and as such, Lopes was not fully prepared for the level of fighter he faced on Saturday night. 'With this fight behind him, I expect Lopes will be better in his next title fight, and there will be a next title fight for him.' At Noche UFC we find out what Lopes learned from facing one of the best to ever compete at 145 pounds. (Photo by Josh Hedges/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images) A member of The Fighting Nerds team out of Brazil, Jean Silva (16-2) joined the UFC in September 2023 when he scored a UFC contract thanks to a decision win over Kevin Vallejos on a Dana White's Contender Series card. Silva extended his winning streak to eight straight with his win over Vallejos. Vallejos, who signed with the UFC following a 2024 DWCS win, is the last fighter to go the distance with Silva. Since his DWCS win, Silva has picked up four knockout victories, one submission and three straight fight-night bonus awards. Silva is coming off a dominant performance at UFC 314, submitting Bryce Mitchell in the second round. After his win over Mitchell, UFC commentator Joe Rogan said Silva, 'looks like a world champion.' Silva enters Noche UFC as the No. 10 ranked featherweight. We will have more on the upcoming Noche UFC fight card as the UFC Fight Night event approaches, including previews, odds, and predictions.

Moses Moody On Golden State Warriors' Potential For Another Title: ‘We Got A Really Good Opportunity Ahead Of Us'

Moses Moody is optimistic the Golden State Warriors can win a championship with the addition of ... More Jimmy Butler: "We got a really good opportunity ahead of us." (Photo by Tayfun Coskun/Anadolu via Getty Images) Anadolu via Getty Images It can be sometimes forgotten that Moses Moody is a key member of the Golden State Warriors' rotation. The 23-year-old swingman just completed his fourth season with the Warriors, averaging career highs across the board with 9.8 points and 1.3 assists in 22.3 minutes per game on 37.4% from beyond the arc. Those numbers came shortly after Moody signed a three-year, $39 million contract extension just before the start of the season. Moody is the fourth-highest paid player on the Warriors' roster entering the 2025-26 season. "I've learned a lot, experienced a lot more," says Moody in a one-on-one interview of the biggest difference between him now and his rookie season. "When you're drafted at 19, you've a year removed from high school, there's a lot that you don't know about basketball, and a lot that you don't know about the world -- a lot that you don't know about yourself. through this time, I've been able to really slow down and kind of figure a lot of that stuff out. That's some of the biggest growth years of your life. Being able to experience stuff has been a big difference." Moody spent just one year at the University of Arkansas before emerging as a first-round draft pick for the Warriors in 2021. The 6-foot-5 swingman is originally from Little Rock, Arkansas and helped the Razorbacks to an Elite Eight appearance in his lone season there. Moody was named the SEC Freshman of the Year and an AP Honorable Mention All-American after averaging 16.8 points as the team's leading scorer during the 2020-21 season. He won a championship as one of the team's players in the rotation during his rookie season. It was Golden State's fourth championship during the Steph Curry and Draymond Green era. The Warriors have had difficulty in getting back to that level, advancing to the semifinals twice since and missing the playoffs during the 2023-24 season. Klay Thompson and Kevon Looney — two long-time Warriors staples — have since departed and Jonathan Kuminga could be on the way out. In other words, Curry, Green and Moody could be the only players remaining from that team entering the 2025-26 season. Moody says that he has a greater "appreciation" for winning a championship now that he's a veteran who has been through multiple playoff runs. "When everybody was asking me my rookie year, 'How does it feel to win a championship the first year?' I was saying, 'I really don't know, because I've never lost. I've never tried to win it and didn't get it at that point.' Now I see what that means, what it means to win a championship, how hard it is to win a championship. It definitely raises my appreciation." Moses Moody Speaks Highly Of Jimmy Butler Addition: 'He Plays Ball The Right Way' The Warriors are obviously now reloaded following the addition of Jimmy Butler, a multiple-time All-Star who has previously led the Miami Heat to two NBA Finals runs. Golden State was a significantly better team during the second half of the season after trading for Butler, going 18-2 with him and Curry in the lineup. Golden State defeated the No. 2-seeded Houston Rockets as the No. 7 seed in the first round before falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round. However, it's worth noting that Curry suffered an injury in Game 1 and was sidelined for the remainder of the series. Had Curry never been injured, there's a real possibility the Warriors would have defeated the Timberwolves. That would led to Golden State possibly playing a spoiler role against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals. "Yeah, it had that feeling," says Moody of the Warriors making a deep run had Curry never been injured. "I don't know what ranking we were in the league at the point at the All-Star break, I don't know what that would have been, but the feeling we had felt real familiar when it comes to that championship run." Moody speaks glowingly of the impact Butler had on the team, with the 35-year-old averaging 17.9 points, 5.9 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game after he was acquired by the Warriors. A full season with Butler and Curry next year should show the Warriors' full potential. It's a year where Moody should continue to see an increased role, especially if Kuminga departs. "Yeah, it's really cool playing with Jimmy Butler just because he plays ball the right way, and he plays to win," says Moody of Butler. "He wants to win. I respect his game, I respect the way he moves. As you can see, I like to win too, and that's what started happening once he got here. He's always looking to find and get people involved. I just think we got a really good opportunity ahead of us." Moses Moody Hosting 3-Day Weekend Event In Hometown Of Little Rock, Arkansas The four-year veteran is keeping busy during the dog days of the NBA offseason. Moody will be hosting a three-day weekend event starting Friday, July 25 in his hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas alongside his Warriors teammate, Green. The duo will be hosting a youth summit — tailored for boys and girls ages 12-to-15 — and a fireside chat where the two veterans will be sharing their basketball stories. "First, we have Draymond coming to town to do a fireside chat with the city," says Moody of the weekend's events. "We got a lot of people coming out just to provide that access and let them see somebody that they've seen on TV, because it has a distance effect. When you see somebody on TV, it doesn't seem real. But seeing them actually here in your town, being able to talk to them, ask questions, provide that access, is going to be really cool. I just hope everybody has a good time with that one. It can be inspirational in a way as well." Moody says he's been hosting the weekend event over the last three or so years, with Thompson being a guest a couple of years ago and Rich Paul — the agent for Moody — being a guest last year. To top it all off, he's also been named a Board of Director at the NBPA Foundation. "On Saturday morning, we're going to have a camp which is just an experience for kids, for young people to have that same access and touch and see NBA players," says Moody. "It feels a (different) way when you actually are able to look somebody in the eye and see that they're a real person. Because you for me, when I was young, I didn't have that experience with as many NBA players — you're just only able to see them on TV. Just to have that camp and have them walking around, have us walking around, will be really impactful for them."

Bethpage Black on Long Island is gearing up for 2025 Ryder Cup. Here's what to know.

The 2025 Ryder Cup is set for late September at Bethpage Black, and anticipation for the event couldn't be higher. While many fans are still wondering who will ultimately make the U.S. and Europe teams, the public can expect the most passionate and talented golfers in the world to descend on the Long Island village of Farmingdale. For the first time in its history, the event is being held on the famed Bethpage Black course. More than 500,000 people registered for the ticket lottery. "We sold out of Thursday through Sunday in about 48 hours," Ryder Cup Director Bryan Karns said. However, Karns said Thursday practice round tickets for the event are still available. "This is an incredibly passionate fan base," Karns said. The Ryder Cup is considered by many the Super Bowl of golf and is on the bucket list of fans from all over the world. "One of the most chaotic and exiting events that golf has," one golfer at the course said Thursday. The event has an entire Farmingdale community counting the days until the first ball is officially struck. The village of Farmingdale and the businesses there are bursting with anticipation for one of professional golf's premier events. "Oh, absolutely, people are going to be in here. We are preparing for it," Flux Coffee barista Kevin Sowkey said. Bethpage Black has been preparing for the event for three years and those in attendance will be experiencing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The Black Course is special because it is a public golf course. "Public golfers representing so many different backgrounds and demographics that all have a sense of ownership, Bethpage is their golf course. It's New York's golf course," Karns said. Crowds of 50,000 are expected on each of the four days, with many fans already concerned about where they will be able to park. Organizers say your best bet is taking the Long Island Railroad to Farmingdale. "We will run our shuttles from Farmingdale train station to the main entrance. We will have ride-shares on site -- Yellow Course, No. 11 -- and then we have Jones Beach for general public parking, which will run shuttles," said Evan Crowder, operations manager for the PGA of America. The Ryder Cup is held every two years, with each team's roster consisting of six automatic qualifiers, based on where they stand in the points standings in mid-August, and six captain's picks. Though this year's rosters have not yet been finalized, expect to see Bryson DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy, each multiple major championship winners, tee it up on Sept. 26. DeChambeau has reportedly been selected by Team USA Captain Keegan Bradley, and McIlroy will be an automatic qualifier for Team Europe. The players will compete in a combination of match play formats over three days -- foursomes (alternate shot), four ball (best ball), and singles. Each match is worth 1 point and to win the Ryder Cup, one side must amass at least 14.5 points. The U.S. has won the Ryder Cup a record 27 times, but since the event switched to a U.S. vs. Europe format in 1979, Europe leads 12-11, including a victory in 2023.
