Who's better: Cassius Winston or Braden Smith? Social media buzzing about this player debate

Social media was buzzing this week after an analyst gave Cassius Winston the nod over Purdue's Braden Smith in a 2020s All-Big Ten list Who is a better and more accomplished point guard: Michigan State's Cassius Winston or Purdue's Braden Smith? This question has been a hot debate on social media this past week. Rapheal Davis of the Big Ten Network sparked a hot debate this week when he unveiled his All-Big Ten teams of the 2020s, with one of the biggest discussions on social media being centered around Winston and Smith. Davis gave Winston the nod as the first team selection at point guard over Smith -- who landed on Davis' second team. It's even more notable that Davis that gave Winston the nod over Smith since Davis played at Purdue himself and could have easily gave his former school's guy the nod in a toss-up decision. Davis noted that Smith could surpass Winston with a strong upcoming senior season, but some (probably many Purdue fans) felt he already deserved the nod over the Spartans legend. When comparing the two star point guard's careers, they are very much similar with both experiencing both personal and team success during their time in college. Smith, of course, still has one more year to further improve his legacy -- and it doesn't hurt his case that the Boilermakers are considered a preseason top five team nationally (in large part to his return for his senior season). To complete a side-by-side comparison, here is a link to Winston's sports reference page and here is a link to Smith's. So who would you personally give the nod too? If you're reading this article, you're probably like me and a Spartan, which means you would lean towards Winston. But I do respect the argument for Smith, and wouldn't be opposed to him moving into the first team slot should he have another strong year this upcoming season. Regardless of which way you lean, it's a fun debate to have in the middle of July and I personally thank Davis for putting this list together for some fun Big Ten basketball banter in the heart of summer time. Click on Davis' social media post below to see his three All-Big Ten teams of the 2020s and to also check out the replies in relation to the Winston-Smith debate. There are definitely some good responses in favor of both the Spartans and Boilermakers lead guy at point guard worth taking a look at on X. Tennessee Titans training camp preview: Safeties

As we enter the final weekend before the Tennessee Titans report to training camp, all eyes are focused on outside linebacker Femi Oladejo and whether the second-round pick will sign his contract or hold out. Second-rounders have slowly started to come to terms, and Oladejo should be coming in soon. Although we have already covered edge players in our previews, the topic remains a hot one. Today, we continue our training camp preview series by breaking down the Titans' safeties. Like many positions on the roster, the Titans have added some pieces to the backend with a solid mix of rookies and veterans. A noticeable change will be evident when the team reports to camp on July 22. Here's a quick rundown of who and what to expect this summer. Coaching staff Dennard Wilson (defensive coordinator), Steve Jackson (secondary/safeties coach), Steve Donatell (assistant defensive backs coach) Wilson and Jackson return in 2025, aiming to improve the Titans' run defense, which struggled during their first season together in Nashville. Tennessee has added some pieces to the secondary with veteran Xavier Woods and rookie third-round pick Kevin Winston, but has a solid mix of experience and youth to work with once they hit camp. Strong safety Starter: Amani Hooker Reserves: Kevin Winston Jr., Mark Perry, Julius Wood Hooker returns to the fold and is the leader of the secondary. He is coming off an excellent season and is a consistent defender. The veteran defensive back is an underrated competitor and could be even better if the team around him stays healthy. Winston was drafted in the third round and has a chance to develop into an outstanding playmaker for the Titans' defense. An athletic safety with upside, had he been healthy in 2024, he likely would have gone higher in the draft. Winston will have to play catch-up after missing all of the field work during offseason activities as he recovers from the ACL injury that cost him most of the season. But all signs point to him being ready for camp. Perry and Wood will be fighting for a depth role or a spot on special teams. Free safety Starter: Xavier Woods Reserves: Mike Brown, Kendell Brooks Tennessee signed Woods as an unrestricted free agent to add an experienced presence to the defensive backfield. A consummate professional, the veteran defensive back has been a consistent playmaker throughout his career, bringing a diligent work ethic to the team. His leadership qualities could become a significant asset if things start to unfold as they did in 2024, when injuries ravaged the defense. Brown is coming off an uneven season where he flashed potential. If he can become more consistent, he should be a solid rotational piece. Brooks has an uphill climb, but he could work his way into the mix if he shows some special-teams value. Overall outlook The safety position should be one of the most consistent units on the defense, and enters training camp with most of the depth chart in place. Winston is a wildcard; if healthy, he has the skill set to push for playing time early in the season.

Who drafted former Bucs top pick Jameis Winston land in 2015 NFL re-draft?

The NFL Draft remains the second-largest event on the NFL calendar, behind the Super Bowl. Like it or not, it also remains one of the biggest things that fans and media enjoy going back and analyzing to see "what could have been." Pro Football Focus has done a good job this offseason by launching a re-draft series, which we have been tracking here on Bucs Wire. In their latest draft, they looked back on, it just so happens to be one of the more impactful ones in recent memory for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers franchise: The 2015 NFL Draft. In this draft, the Bucs had originally drafted quarterback Jameis Winston first overall in hopes he would be the franchise leader for years to come. That didn't pan out, so where does the former top overall pick land if he goes in the first round at all? Well, he didn't stay in Florida, but he didn't have far to travel. Sikkema has the Houston Texans selecting Winston with the 16th overall pick in the draft. He writes, "Houston desperately needed a franchise quarterback after Matt Schaub's decline and departure in 2013. Ryan Fitzpatrick provided a solid 2014 season but left for New York afterward. The best option in the 2015 draft was Jameis Winston, who posted a 74.1 passing grade and 112 big-time throws over five seasons as Tampa Bay's starter. Unfortunately, he also recorded the second-highest turnover-worthy play rate among quarterbacks with at least 1,500 dropbacks. Perhaps he could have fared better in a different environment." Perhaps Bill O'Brien would have been the coach to have Jameis Winston play his best football; we will never know. Also, Houston would have had a great defense to back up Winston, which also would have helped matters.

Golden Retrievers 'Don't Understand' Spiral Steps—Owner Does the Unexpected

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Two golden retrievers were excited to explore the home they were staying in on vacation, only to find themselves trapped upstairs as they were unable to face going down a spiral staircase. Ellie Schraft, 24, lives in Florida with her two golden retrievers, Winston, one, and six-month-old Benny, and recently took a three-week-long family vacation with them to the Jersey Shore. When they arrived at their lodgings for the trip, however, they quickly learned there was going to be an issue: the dogs could not figure out the concept of a spiral staircase. "They have never seen or been on spiral staircases," Schraft told Newsweek. "My bedroom, where they were sleeping with me, was upstairs. And they ran right up but wouldn't come down!" After more than two hours of trying to encourage the dogs to come down, Schraft had to take things into her own hands—and a video of the rescue mission has gone viral since being posted to her TikTok account, @winstonandbenny. Posted on June 27, and boasting more than 300,000 views, it shows a montage of Schraft trying to coax the dogs down, but they stand at the entrance to the stairway, still smiling for the camera, but utterly refusing to move. Winston and Benny stuck on top of the staircase. Winston and Benny stuck on top of the staircase. TikTok @winstonandbenny At one point, the family drape a large blanket over the side of the banister, Schraft explaining to Newsweek: "They were so freaked out, so we had to put the blanket up to hide the height because we thought maybe it was that—but they were still scared." Golden retrievers, just like Benny and Winston, have long been one of the most popular choice for pets in the United States, coming in third place behind the Labrador retriever and French bulldog in the American Kennel Club (AKC)'s list of the most popular dog breeds. Known for their friendly and devoted nature, goldens get along with family, young children, and other dogs, and are relatively easy to train, according to the AKC. Back in Jersey Shore, with the blanket idea failing, they took another major step: strapping Winston into a life jacket, so they could use the handles to help lift him down. And, once Winston was near the bottom of the stairs, he trotted down happily by himself—and Schraft said Benny then followed from the top of the landing as though it had been no big deal. TikTok @winstonandbenny TikTok users were in stitches at the dogs' mountaineering adventure, one commenter pointing out the "life jacket just in case," and another defending them: "I'm also afraid of spiral staircases and I don't go down headfirst, so I totally get it." "To be fair, it is a bit of a curveball," another wrote. And one praised Schraft and her family: "The life jacket was actually smart!" There is a difference in personality between her two dogs, Schraft told Newsweek. "Winston had to wear the life jacket for the whole week because he was so scared. And once Benny was going up and down, he just kept doing it for fun." As she put it: "Winston is scared of everything. Winston will literally freak out and hide if he sees a big bug. Benny is way more fearless—but they are definitely not usually super sharp!" Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share? Corgi's Attempt To Find His ‘Water Legs' While Paddle Boarding With Dad Is Total Cuteness Overload

Corgi's Attempt To Find His 'Water Legs' While Paddle Boarding With Dad Is Total Cuteness Overload originally appeared on PetHelpful. Some corgis can do it all. Or at least they try to. That's the case with Winston. Recently, this affable, chonky guy decided to go paddleboarding with his human dad, and while finding his water legs wasn't exactly easy, it sure was memorable! Now, you're probably wondering, are corgis water dogs? Well, there is no simple answer to that question. Winston was certainly game to get out on the water; however, staying on the paddleboard with his dad did prove to be a bit of a challenge, LOL. At first, everything is going just grand. Winston's dad places him on the board, and the chonky little guy just looks as happy as a clam. He is also as adorable as can be in his life jacket and special hat! Now, at first, Winston was actually doing pretty well, his dad was paddling away, and Winston had a comfy spot on the board, right in the middle, and was lying down, nice and relaxed and enjoying the view. He even sat up at one point so that he could seemingly get a better look at the horizon, although he is on a paddleboard in the middle of a lake, so it's not like there was anything around him blocking his view, sitting up a few times, Winston got more comfortable and decided that it was time for him to stand on the paddleboard. However, at that moment, the water started to get a little rockier, and that's when Winston, who clearly doesn't have his water legs yet, took a tumble into the lake. But don't worry, his human dad got him out of the water very quick, and he had his life jacket on, so he was okay. Also, his special hat was properly secured to his head so it didn't fall off in the water, thank goodness! As this other video shows, Winston has also enjoyed some fun adventures in the swimming pool. This time, his human dad pulled him along on a boogie board, which Winston had an easier time balancing on than the paddleboard. Perhaps the buggy board was easier for the balance because there were no waves in the pool? He did end up in the water in this video, too, though. Towards the end, he just decided that he wanted to go for a swim and hopped right in. And we must say, Winston proved himself to be an excellent doggy paddler! Looking for more PetHelpful updates?
