Sobriety checkpoints this weekend in NE Ohio

SUGARCREEK TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) – The Stark County Sheriff's Office has announced plans to conduct sobriety checkpoints on Saturday, July 26, as part of ongoing efforts to reduce impaired driving.
According to a press release, the Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with other members of the Stark County OVI Task Force, will hold two sobriety checkpoints in Sugarcreek Township.

One checkpoint will be held from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the 11800 block of Navarre Road SW in Navarre. The other checkpoint will be held from 10 p.m. until midnight at OH-93 (WabashAvenue N) and Glick Street NW in Brewster.

'Officers will conduct a roadside check of drivers for alcohol and drug impairment and will be vigilant in detecting and apprehending impaired drivers,' read the release. 'Remember: Impaired driving is never acceptable. If consuming alcohol or drugs, make the responsible choice to plan ahead for a safe, sober ride home.'
On Friday, officials in Summit County also announced checkpoints at 'various locations' across the county, which started Friday evening and continued into the early morning hours of Saturday.
In 1990, the Supreme Court upheld the use of sobriety checkpoints as long as they meet certain guidelines, which includes public notification.
