Jets sign defenceman Haydn Fleury to two-year contract
WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Jets have signed defenceman Haydn Fleury to a two-year contract, the team announced Saturday.
The deal carries an annual average value of US$950,000.
Fleury, 28, had seven assists in 39 regular-season games for the Jets in 2024-25.
He added two more assists in eight post-season contests.
The six-foot-four, 207-pound Fleury signed with Winnipeg as a free agent last July after two years with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

He was drafted in the first round (seventh overall) by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2014. In 307 career games, including time with the Anaheim Ducks and Seattle Kraken, he has 10 goals and 34 assists.

Honduras beats Panama in shootout to reach Gold Cup semis

(AP) — Carlos Pineda scored the decisive penalty shot as Honduras beat Panama in a shootout after the teams played to a 1-1 draw in the CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinals on Saturday night. Honduras advanced to the semifinals on Wednesday in Santa Clara, California, where it will face the winner of Saudi Arabia and Mexico. It's the first time Honduras has made the Gold Cup semis since 2013. Honduras struggled to generate many scoring opportunities until coming alive late in the second half. Los Catrachos evened the scored in the 82nd minute when Anthony Lozano deflected a shot from Carlos Pineda into the corner of the net following a corner kick. Both teams made four out of five shots in the initial round of kicks. Honduras had a chance to win with its fifth attempt, but Orlando Mosquera made a diving stop on Lozano's shot. CF Montreal beats New York City 1-0 to net first home win
MONTREAL – It took CF Montreal nine games, but the Major League Soccer squad finally won a home game, beating New York City FC 1-0 on Saturday evening. Victor Loturi was the lone goal scorer for Montreal (3-12-5), which completed the season sweep over New York (8-7-4) for the first time ever. Montreal started the game at Stade Saputo on the front foot, looking to progress from the wide areas of the field and break down a resolute New York low block. Dante Sealy on the right wing was particularly potent in the opening stages of play, driving most of Montreal's attack. In the 23rd minute, he found himself isolated with a defender and let off a powerful shot that was spilled to Loturi, who made no mistake and scored his first goal for the club.
