This Morning viewers praise Olivia Attwood hosting debut as they claim Love Island star makes Dermot O'Leary look like a 'first time presenter'

Daily Mail25-07-2025
This Morning viewers have praised Olivia Attwood as she made her debut on the ITV show - and confessed that she made co-host Dermot O'Leary 'look like a first time presenter'.
The former Love Island star, 37, was first announced as a host for the summer break back in June.
On Friday she made her first appearance on the sofa with her co-star Dermot - and many fans have rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to praise the documentary maker for her presenting skills.
One even went as far to say that she made Dermot look like an amateur, despite the former X Factor presenter usually hosting This Morning with Alison Hammond, 50, every Friday.
'I have to say that dermot looks like the first time presenter & inexperienced & Olivia attwood looks like the one that has been doing it for a long time, she has really surprised me,she is a really good presenter far better than josie gibson, well done olivia attwoood #ThisMorning.'
'OLIVIA ATTWOOD belongs on that sofa! Sterling job on #ThisMorning today! Really enjoyed her input.'
'Love #OliviaAttwood and so proud to see her smashing it on #thismorning.'
Olivia opened her debut to the ITV show with a BRUTAL comment to her co-star Dermot -which left the studio in stitches.
The Getting Filthy Rich star couldn't help but make a cheeky comment about Dermot just moments after they went on air.
Dermot said to viewers: 'Well hello. Welcome to your Friday's This Morning.
'Look who has joined us today. It's only the lovely Olivia Attwood everyone!
But the Getting Filthy Rich star couldn't help but make a cheeky comment about Dermot just moments into the show (pictured)
Olivia replied: 'Thanks guys! This is not a drill. This is happening!
'...I want you to know, I did go for a smaller heel.'
Dermot then added: 'You could have worn a flat! That's all I'm saying... Early feedback.'
'I couldn't actually,' Olivia replied.
Dermot, who is 5 ft9, told her: 'You could have worn a flat!'
The former X Factor presenter then went on his tip toes to get to the same height as his co-host.
Olivia's debut has got a lot of people talking on X, formerly known as Twitter, with many sharing how much they think she's a great fit for the show.
'Love to see Olivia is presenting on #thismorning great addition!'

The 34-year-old joined the panel of Loose Women back in 2023
'Loving Olivia #ThisMorning.'
'tbh I like Olivia, there are way more insufferable people than her and at least her documentaries aren't just a reality show all about me me me #thismorning.'
Since shooting to fame on Love Island, Olivia has released some of her own documentaries with ITV, including Getting Filthy Rich, The Price of Perfection and presented Bad Boyfriends.
She also became a regular panelist on Loose Women back in August 2023.
But earlier this month the star hit back at backlash over her upcoming gig on This Morning after cruel trolls insisted it 'wouldn't work'.
Traditionalists went as far as threatening they'll 'definitely stop watching' if Olivia joins the morning show.
But ITV's golden girl Olivia has assured she is determined to succeed in the new gig and prove the haters wrong.
She exclusively told The Sun: 'Those who know me understand the hard work I've put in to get where I am today.
'I'm forever grateful to Love Island for being the springboard to my career, but I'm excited to show there's so much more to me beyond the villa.
'It's been a lot of hard work, but I've always stayed focused on my goals and believed in myself and I'm very thankful for ITV in believing me.'
There are a range of other stars who will be presenting This Morning this summer.
The likes of Sian Welby, 38, Emma Willis, 49, Josie Gibson, 40, Rochelle Humes, 36, Joel Dommett, 40, Craig Doyle, 54, and Andi Peters, 54, will also be stepping in for Cat Deeley, 48, and Ben Shephard, 50.

Michael Rosen says Allan Ahlberg was a ‘pioneer of great children's literature'

The author, known for books including Peepo! and Woof!, died at the age of 87 on July 29, publisher Penguin Random House confirmed. Children's author Rosen, 79, who wrote the book We're Going On A Bear Hunt, wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter: 'Goodbye Allan. You were a pioneer of great children's literature, both in picture books and poetry. 'You were clever, funny and wise. My children loved your books. So did and so DO I.' Francesca Dow, head of children's literature at Penguin Random House, said: 'Allan was one of the most extraordinary authors I have had the privilege and pleasure to work with. 'His brilliant books – so many of them created with his late wife, Janet, the highly talented illustrator – have been described as 'mini masterpieces'. 'Allan's are some of the very best – true classics, which will be loved by children and families for years to come. Dear Allan, we will all miss you enormously.' Ahlberg was born in Croydon and raised by his adoptive parents in Oldbury in the Black Country. In 1975, he published his first children's book with his wife Janet, Here Are The Brick Street Boys. Together they went on to publish a number of books, including Each Peach Pear Plum (1978), Peepo! (1981), and The Baby's Catalogue (1982), their picture books Funnybones (1980) as well as the books in The Jolly Postman series. He wrote some books for older readers as well, including the poetry collections Please Mrs Butler (1983) and Heard It In The Playground (1989). Following his wife's death from breast cancer in 1994, he wrote a tribute to her in the form of Janet's Last Book (1997). Ahlberg and his wife Janet were among the most loaned authors in the decade leading up to 2010, according to figures from PLR (Public Lending Right). In 2014, Ahlberg revealed he turned down a literary lifetime achievement award because of the sponsor Amazon's tax arrangements. The author said it was 'unacceptable' to take the honorary award from reading charity BookTrust when the online firm's name was attached to it. Ahlberg is survived by his wife Vanessa, daughter Jessica and stepdaughters Saskia and Johanna.

Hollyoaks tour cancelled ahead of huge anniversary over 'low ticket sales'

The upcoming Hollyoaks Live tour has been dropped by its promoters, who are said to have 'over-estimated' the appeal for the production, which is external to the TV show A huge tour for a major TV show has been dramatically axed due to low ticket sales. Hollyoaks Live, which is an external production from the Channel 4 soap opera, was expected to hit the road, giving fans an insight into the popular programme but bosses have been forced to pull the plug. ‌ But while a string of famous faces from the show had signed on the dotted line to meet with fans, the production, which was due to take place in October, will no longer be going ahead. ‌ Soap stars including Nick Pickard, Kieron Richardson, Jorgie Porter, Gary Lucy, and Ashley Taylor Dawson were set to meet fans who had splashed out a whopping £161 for meet and greet tickets, allowing them to ask burning questions about their favourite TV show. It comes after reports Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set for new 'goldmine' offer - but could face issue. ‌ However, sources have claimed that bosses behind the production had "overestimated" the appeal for the show, which was due to take place in Manchester, Glasgow and London, had been left with no option but to cancel the entire tour. "The promoter massively over-estimated the appeal a live stage show would have to Hollyoaks' core audience," a source said. They went on to tell The Sun: "The ticket prices were incredibly high for a show that's popular with teenagers. ‌ "The decision was made to pull the tour rather than have a loss-making venture with empty theatres." But those who purchased tickets for the events will be offered refunds at their points of purchase. It's understood that the tour was organised by an external production team, with Hollyoaks and Channel 4 having very limited involvement in the planning. A spokesperson for the tour said in a statement: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, the planned theatre events with Maple Tree Entertainment featuring Hollyoaks cast are not going to take place as planned. "We are sad to disappoint those who had purchased tickets but they will be refunded via the venues." However, it's a stark contrast for ITV soap, Coronation Street, which is going ahead with a live theatre tour. ‌ Long standing cast members from the Manhcester based soap opera will appear at theatres across the nation to discuss their time on the show, in a production which has been billed An Audience with Coronation Street. Fans will pay more than £30 with the promoters promising "behind-the-scenes secrets, share hilarious stories, and relive heart-warming moments from the iconic ITV show". Hosted by This Morning's resident soap expert, Sharon Marshall, the show promises to be filled with laughter, nostalgia, and "more than a few jaw-dropping surprises!" ‌ Each event will feature five Coronation Street stars live on stage, including a surprise Corrie legend. The line-up will vary at each venue, with fan-favourite cast members including Andrew Whyment (Kirk Sutherland), Jack P Shepherd (David Platt), Samia Longchambon (Maria Connor), and Simon Gregson (Steve McDonald), with more names to be announced soon. Additionally, former show legends will also appear on stage. The tour will start in September and includes dates in London, Sheffield, Manchester and Glasgow. Promoters say in the first half, the audience will be treated to an intimate and lively interview session with some of Corrie's most beloved cast members. Ever wondered what goes on between takes? Curious about those off-screen friendships and real-life dramas? This is your chance to hear all the gossip straight from the source. The second act will feature a Corrie legend who will appear on stage and talk about their time on the ITV show.
