Man suffers life-threatening injuries after downtown Toronto shooting

Toronto police say a man is in life-threatening condition after being shot near the city's Entertainment District late Saturday night.
In a series of posts to social media, officials say officers responded to the 'sound of gunshots' in the area of John Street and Adelaide Street West at approximately 10:34 p.m.

When they arrived, they say they located a male victim who had been shot suffering from wounds.
He was transported to hospital by paramedics.
Police say three people have since been arrested in connection with the shooting.

Northbound John Street is closed between Adelaide Street West and Richmond Street West. Adelaide Street West is also closed between John Street and Widmer Street.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and 'use alternate routes.'
Police note the investigation remains ongoing and say anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-2222.

Ontario Provincial Police say two drivers were stopped racing 100 km/h over the speed limit on Hwy. 417 in Ottawa Tuesday morning. (OPP/X) Two drivers are facing stunt driving charges after being stopped racing 100 km/h over the posted speed limit on Highway 417 in Ottawa, according to police. Ontario Provincial Police say officers stopped two vehicles shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday. A photo posted on social media showed one driver going 186 km/h. 'Three vehicles were observed racing each other through the construction zone where the speed is 80km/h!' OPP Const. Michael Fathi said on X. 'Officers were able to stop two of the vehicles.' The two drivers stopped, ages 18 and 19, are facing charges of stunt driving and dangerous driving. Fathi says the drivers also had their licences suspended for 30 days and their vehicles were impounded for 14 days.
