Israa Farhan
At least 15 people were hospitalized after a skydiving aircraft veered off the runway and crashed into a wooded area near a small airport in southern New Jersey on Wednesday evening, authorities confirmed.
The incident occurred at Cross Keys Airport, located approximately 21 miles (34 kilometers) southeast of Philadelphia.
The aircraft involved was a Cessna 208B carrying 15 individuals, according to a spokesperson from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which has launched an investigation into the crash.
Aerial footage of the wreckage showed the plane resting amid dense trees, with debris scattered around the crash site. Emergency vehicles, including fire trucks and ambulances, quickly surrounded the area as first responders worked to assess the situation.
Wendy Marano, a spokesperson for Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey,
stated
that three individuals were undergoing evaluation at the hospital's trauma center, while eight others were being treated for less serious injuries in the emergency department.
Four additional people, described as having sustained minor injuries, were awaiting further medical assessment. Marano noted that trauma teams and emergency personnel were present at the crash site to assist with medical needs.
The nature and cause of the crash are still under investigation by federal authorities, and no fatalities have been reported. The incident has drawn attention to safety protocols in recreational aviation, especially concerning skydiving operations.

Ahfad Al-Zaytoun Learning Centre Helps Gaza's Children Navigate Trauma

Ahfad Al-Zaytoun proves that even if the damage feels irreparable, there is work to be done in the attempt to heal. Jul 07, 2025 Since the ongoing genocide in Gaza began in October 2023, we've been observing documentation of horrific crimes against humanity being committed against innocent civilians, including children. The events are more jarring than anything we've seen in even the most aversive, dystopian films - and with it comes a general feeling of helplessness as we struggle to approach a pain so monumental. Israa Aly, the founder of Ahfad Al-Zaytoun, was crippled by this same helplessness, until she realised that there was something she could do. As refugees from Gaza fled to Egypt with their children, she wondered how children who endured so much for the past months could assimilate back into classrooms, where teachers may fail to approach their trauma appropriately. She posted an Instagram story in March 2024 asking for volunteers that would would help create a safe environment for Palestinian children, and in doing so created Ahfad Al-Zaytoun is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation built to offer a trauma-informed community and learning centre for Palestinian children in Cairo. Led by experienced, empathetic teachers and psychologists specialising in the psychology of children with disabilities, the initiative hopes to offer the children the support they need for providing support to tens of children, Ahfad Al-Zaytoun achieves an incontestably paramount feat. It proves that even if the task feels huge, even if the damage feels irreparable, there is work to be done to heal.
