Jawan Fame Ridhi Dogra On Shah Rukh Khan's National Award Win: ‘This Fake Mother…'
Ridhi Dogra, who played Kaveri Amma in Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, is 'over the moon' as the Bollywood superstar won Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 71st National Film Awards. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan won his first-ever National Film Award on Friday, marking a major milestone in his 33-year acting career. He won Best Actor in a Leading Role for his outstanding performance in Atlee's Jawan. Actress Ridhi Dogra, who played SRK's godmother 'Kaveri Amma' in the film, has now reacted to his National Award win, expressing her joy and pride over his long-overdue recognition. She hilariously called herself the 'fake mother' of her Jawan son Shah Rukh, expressing her 'real joy' over the news. On Friday, Ridhi Dogra reacted to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by a Shah Rukh Khan fan page announcing his Best Actor win for Jawan at the 71st National Film Awards. Referencing her role in the Atlee film, Ridhi Dogra wrote, 'The best news. The best film. This fake mother of her Jawan son is over the moon with real joy @iamsrk congratulations bigeesssttt love to you and @Atlee_dir and entire team !!!" Check out her post below! The best news. The best film. This fake mother of her Jawan son is over the moon with real joy @iamsrk congratulations ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ bigeesssttt love to you and @Atlee_dir and entire team !!! — Ridhi Dogra (@iRidhiDogra) August 1, 2025 She also took to her Instagram stories, and wrote, 'The Best News. For the best film. Your film @atlee47 Our film. Like you said, the awards deserve you @iamsrk All Of them. Always." Shah Rukh Khan shared the Best Actor award with Vikrant Massey, who won for his role in 12th Fail. Soon after the National Film Awards were announced, Shah Rukh Khan shared a video thanking his fans, directors and family for their unwavering support. Meanwhile, last month, Ridhi Dogra opened up about playing Shah Rukh Khan's godmother Kaveri Amma in the film. She said that as a fan of SRK, it was 'painful' for her to play the role, and she said that it would be a nightmare for any Shah Rukh Khan fan. She explained that in the film, her role was not actually that of Shah Rukh's mother – that part was played by Deepika Padukone. However, since the makers didn't want to label Deepika's character as the mother, so she became 'Kaveri Amma'. In an interview with Indian Express, Ridhi Dogra said, 'SRK is eternally young. I am playing a mother to Shah Rukh Khan. That's ridiculous. That's the stuff nightmares are made of. That's a nightmare for every Shah Rukh fan. I was directly called to meet Atlee on the sets of Jawan. I was very happy, but I didn't know where I was going and what was happening. After reaching there, I realized that they were shooting Jawan, the whole set was ready. Atlee explained the role to me, and I was like, 'No, what makes you think I am this person?'" However, she felt it was an opportunity she shouldn't pass up, so she decided to take on the role. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. The Kerala Story's National Award win 'insult to noble tradition of Indian cinema': Angry CM Pinarayi Vijayan slams jury
The Kerala Story was among the big winners for Bollywood at the 71st National Film Awards, announced on Friday. The film won two awards for Best Director and Best Cinematography. But even as the team behind the film celebrated, the triumph erupted into a political controversy, with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan slamming the jury. The Kerala Story starred Adah Sharma in the lead. Kerala CM slams film's win The controversial film on religious conversions in the state was opposed by CM Vijayan and his party when it originally released in 2023. On Friday, after the announcement of the awards, the CM took to X (formerly Twitter) and alleged that the move "lent credibility" to a narrative rooted in the "divisive" ideology of the Sangh Parivar. 'By honouring a film that spreads blatant misinformation with the clear intent of tarnishing Kerala's image and sowing seeds of communal hatred, the jury of the National Film Awards has lent legitimacy to a narrative rooted in the divisive ideology of the Sangh Parivar. Kerala, a land that has always stood as a beacon of harmony and resistance against communal forces, has been gravely insulted by this decision,' the CM wrote in his tweet. Kerala CM also said that the awards jury has insulted the noble tradition of Indian cinema that stood for "religious brotherhood" and national integration. "Through this, they are implementing the Sangh Parivar agenda of turning cinema into a weapon to implement the communal agenda. We strongly protest against this action. Every Malayali and all democratic believers in the country should raise their voice against this injustice. We must rally against politics that turn art into a weapon to foster communalism," he added. The Kerala Story's National Award win At the 71st National Film Awards, The Kerala Story won Best Director and Best Cinematography awards. Directed by Sudipto Sen and starring Adah Sharma, The Kerala Story, which was released on May 5, 2023, emerged as one of the most successful films at the box office. However, the movie came in for severe criticism from some quarters, with many, including Opposition leaders, alleging that it falsely claimed that 32,000 women, who went missing from Kerala, were forced into terrorism upon alleged conversion or sold to ISIS as sex slaves. The movie faced a backlash in several states, with the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government imposing a ban on screening the film in the state. (With ANI inputs)

Shah Rukh Khan won his first National Film Award for 2023 released movie Jawan in a career spanning over 33 years. Following the announcement, the King actor dropped a video of him while thanking the jury for the honor and fans for always standing by him. Shah Rukh Khan took to his micro-blogging site Twitter (now X) and dropped a video message. He said, "Namaskaar and adaab. Needless to say, I'm overwhelmed with gratitude, pride, and humility to be honored with the National award that I'll cherish for a lifetime. Thank you so much to the jury, the chairman, the I&B ministry and everyone who thought I was worthy of this one. I would like to thank all of my directors and writers, especially for the year 2023. So, thank you Raju sir, thank you Sid and especially, thank you Atlee sir and his team for giving me the opportunity in Jawan." The actor further added, "I want to thank my team and management which works tirelessly with me. They bear with my eccentricities and impatience and give me their full attention and make me look much better than I am. This award, without the perseverance and love, would not be possible at all. Thank you so much for everything you do. My wife and kids, who over the last few years gave me so much more love and care as if I am the kid in the house and want only the best for me. They know my obsession with cinema takes me away from them but they all bear it with a smile and allow me the time. So, thank you so much for that. The Pathaan actor went on to add, "The national award is not just about achievement; it's a reminder that what I do matters. It tells me to keep going, keep working hard, keep creating, and keep serving cinema." "In a world full of noise to be heard, truly heard, is a blessing, and I promise to use this recognition not as a finish line but as fuel to continue striving, learning, and giving back. It is a reminder that acting is not a job but a responsibility to bring truth to the screens. And then lastly to my fans, thank you for all the cheers and all the tears. Really, thank you for pausing your scroll while watching my work. This award is for you, as each award is. I would love to spread my arms for you and share my love, but I'm a bit indisposed. But don't worry, just keep the popcorn ready, I'll be back in theatres and soon on the stream, so till then, just with one hand 'ready'," the Superstar concluded. In the video clip of 2 minute and 17 seconds long, Shah Rukh Khan can be seen wearing a black Tee and a white beanie. His right arm is in a medical sling- suggesting that the actor is recovering from the injuries he got on the sets of his next venture, King. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more.
