No Gatekeeping Here: This Is The Bag That Always Gets Me Compliments

You probably have a decent rotation of bags in your closet. As a fashion writer, I certainly have a carefully curated edit. There's the striped cotton tote that's practically a necessity for supermarket runs, and my trusted large-enough-for-a-MacBook carryall for days in the office. On the weekend, you'll find me wandering around Primrose Hill, iced latte in hand, with my Uniqlo crossbody bag slung over my shoulder.
Lately, however, as my wardrobe has matured (read: fewer impulse buys, and more thoughtful pieces), I've found myself missing something in the accessories department; a bag that's effortlessly elegant without feeling too precious. The kind that feels equally at home in a client meeting as it does at a table in a trendy restaurant. In short, I was in the market for a shoulder bag that elevates any look, even when I'm running late and reaching for that trusty jeans-and-white-shirt combo yet again. Naturally, my chic colleagues at Grazia had a few brilliant suggestions, but there was just one that really caught my eye (and heart): the Toteme T-Lock bag.

Stockholm-based brand, Toteme, has been something of a well-known secret in fashion circles over the past few years. Founded by Elin Kling and Karl Lindman, you've likely noticed the brand's minimalist basics on plenty of well-dressed women. Whether you've spotted its trendsetting scarf jacket every winter or pined after its chic heeled sandals, Toteme's pieces all have the same calling cards that make them easily identifiable; namely, the considered design, quality construction, and a refined aesthetic largely devoid of bold branding and logos. So, when the brand made its first foray into handbags back in 2022, expectations were reasonably high, and it didn't disappoint.
T-Lock Leather Shoulder Bag
Price: £1,100
The Toteme T-Lock bag sticks to the brand's quiet luxury design language thanks to an elegant leather exterior detailed with the signature understated hardware lock closure. Effortless in its sophistication, you'll find that despite the T-Lock's slouchy curved silhouette, it's surprisingly sturdy, adding a structured polish to any outfit. There's certainly no lack of understated designer bags in the market these days, so why exactly did I fall so hard for the T-Lock? Simple, it's perfect for almost every occasion.
As with most Toteme pieces, the T-Lock is designed with as much attention to practicality as its aesthetic appeal. Roomy enough to fit all my essentials without being overwhelming, the bag comes with a chic top handle for dressier occasions, while a detachable and adjustable longer strap is perfect for those days when I'm rushing around and need my hands free. All of which to say, I'm carrying my T-Lock literally everywhere I go: breakfast meetings with clients, dinners with friends, date nights at a speakeasy, even Sunday morning coffee runs.
While I've been partial to the classic black leather style, if you're after a smaller style, the T-Lock also comes as a compact clutch. Then there's the fact that Toteme has rendered the bag in a carousel of shades and finishes, including tan, white and butter yellow leather, tan and chocolate brown suede, ecru and khaki canvas, and even woven styles perfect for the summer.
Naturally, I've been in a committed relationship with my T-Lock for the last several months, but I'm hardly the bag's first fan. Several style icons, including Katie Holmes and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, have fallen for the T-Lock's charms in recent years. It's also a common sight on fashion editors and influencers at fashion week, and I've spotted one at nearly every front row in the past few seasons.

Happily, despite the bag's obviously luxe aesthetic, the T-Lock is also much more accessible than many of its high-end peers, clocking in at £1,100 for the largest shoulder bag. What's more, according to resale site The RealReal, the bag retains 82% of its value over time, so it's also an excellent investment. However, given how chic and, honestly, practical the bag has proven itself, I highly doubt you'd consider parting with it.
With its inherent sophistication and wear-with-anything appeal, Toteme's T-Lock bag is the best fashion buy you can make for a grown-up addition to your wardrobe this year.

I've splashed £1million to get the world's smallest waist -all my organs moved around because of it but I'm not done yet

Aleira wants to beat the record of Cathie Jung, who currently has the world's smallest waist WAIST A SEC I've splashed £1million to get the world's smallest waist -all my organs moved around because of it but I'm not done yet A WOMAN has revealed that she has spent over £1 million trying to get the world's smallest waist. Aleira Avendano, 33 has spent two decades cinching her waist down to just 18 inches, 16 inches smaller than the average British woman's. Advertisement 2 Aleira wants to have the world's skinniest waist Credit: Instagram aleiraoficial_sexy 2 She's spent £1 million on her unique look Credit: Instagram aleiraoficial_sexy The Florida-based yoga instructor has achieved her tiny waist by wearing a corset, and is determined to beat the current record held by 86-year-old Cathie Jung, whose waist is just 15 inches. Aleira's controversial methods have caused her internal organs to "shift and adjust" to new spots. However, despite the dangers, Aleira, who is originally from Venezuela, isn't ready to quit. "I find it challenging when it comes to buying clothes, as nothing fits," she told NeedToKnow. Advertisement "My sizes are unique, and I have naturally wide hips." "I have to have clothes custom-made for me. It's been a major investment – enhancements, treatments and healthy food. "A huge commitment. Honestly, my body should be insured." As well as spending £1 million on her waist whittling mission, Aleira has also spent £471,000 on cosmetic surgeries, including seven boob jobs, four nose jobs and veneers. Advertisement Aleira previously claimed that all woman "should have plastic surgery to be truly beautiful." And despite the health risks, Aleira has encouraged others to try and get a waist like hers. The 45-second trick to get a snatched waist that Love Island star swears by At the start of her waist cinching journey, Aleira wore a corset six hours a day, but she has now ramped this up to 23 hours. Wearing a corset comes with a myriad of issues, such as breathing difficulties, organ compression and muscle atrophy. Advertisement The model has now launched her own brand of shapewear, to help people achieve her "one of a kind look". "My shapewear line will change many lives" she said. What are the dangers of wearing corsets? Wearing corsets, a fashion practice that dates back centuries, can pose significant medical risks despite their aesthetic appeal. One of the primary concerns is the potential for internal organ damage. Corsets, especially when tightly laced, can compress the ribs and exert pressure on internal organs such as the liver, stomach, and intestines. This compression can lead to displacement and deformation of these organs, potentially causing digestive issues, reduced lung capacity, and impaired circulation. Breathing difficulties are another serious risk associated with corset use. The constriction of the rib cage can limit the expansion of the lungs, leading to shallow breathing and decreased oxygen intake. Over time, this can result in respiratory problems and reduced stamina. In extreme cases, prolonged use of tightly laced corsets can lead to conditions like atelectasis, where parts of the lungs collapse due to inadequate ventilation. Additionally, corsets can affect the musculoskeletal system. The constant pressure and altered posture imposed by a corset can weaken core muscles, leading to muscle atrophy and decreased strength. This can result in long-term back pain and poor posture once the corset is removed. There is also a risk of nerve compression, which can lead to numbness, tingling, and in severe cases, nerve damage. While modern corsets are often designed to be less restrictive than their historical counterparts, the potential health risks remain. It is essential for individuals to be aware of these risks and to use corsets sparingly and with caution. Consulting with medical professionals before incorporating corsets into regular wear can help mitigate some of these risks and ensure that any adverse effects are promptly addressed. "It's a gentle product with incredible results, created by me and inspired by the story of my own body." Aleria added: "I don't miss my old figure at all. Advertisement "People react in different ways. "Some follow me, some feel nervous, and others admire me or see my body as something crazy." She added that men "can't get enough" of her "exotic" figure.

'I found cheaper alternatives to Molly-Mae's earring stack and saved hundreds of pounds'

Molly-Mae Hague has a very expensive taste in jewellery, but you can copy the former Love Island's star's jewellery look for much less - here's how The fashion for small, chic, luxury-looking jewellery – particularly the trend of wearing multiple delicate stud or hoop earrings – has been popular for several years now and is a favourite amongst celebrities. So when I spotted a detailed image of Molly-Mae Hague's earring collection, it inspired me to expand my own collection of piercings and indulge in some new jewellery to emulate her style. The former Love Island contestant had previously revealed that many of her tiny studs and hoops are from the fashionable London-based jewellery brand and piercing studio Maria Tash. This high-end brand is a hit with celebrities and fashion fans alike, but their designs often come with a hefty price tag, often exceeding £1,000 for a single earring. However, without Molly-Mae's reported net worth of £6 million, I set out to find more affordable alternatives – and discovered some fantastic pieces that I adore and now wear daily. Astrid and Miyu I visited Astrid and Miyu to have a third hole pierced in my lobes and was thoroughly impressed with the service – swift, painless and friendly, with excellent advice – a vast improvement on previous piercing experiences, reports OK!. I chose Astrid and Miyu's Triple Topaz Piercing Stud 6mm for my new piercings. As all their piercings are made with solid metals, they aren't cheap – the pair cost me £320. However, they're designed to last a lifetime, I'll likely never remove mine, and I know they're the best material for my ears. While I was shopping, I also snagged these little Cosmic Star Charm Huggies in Gold for a much more affordable £65, which I absolutely adore, and resemble Molly-Mae's jewellery. Abbott Lyon Another brand I've been buying from recently is Abbott Lyon, a hit with celebrities such as Olivia Attwood and Stacey Solomon. Nearly every day, I round off my earring trio with the Sterling Silver Mini Starburst Crystal Earrings (Gold), priced at £69, which I reckon bear a striking resemblance to Maria Tash's designs. If I'm after a bit more of a statement earring look, I'll swap these out for either the Mini Organic Hoops (Gold), £39, or the Ribbed Hoops (Gold), £55,. Abbott Lyon's Strike Twice Lightning Bolt Earrings, retailing at £49, also bear a strong likeness to Molly-Mae's lightning bolt studs. Lily & Roo One jewellery retailer I haven't yet shopped but am eager to is Lily & Roo, whose designs are reminiscent of pieces frequently donned by the Princess of Wales. Lily & Roo's jewellery leans more towards timeless elegance rather than being trend-driven, ensuring they'll be cherished for a lifetime. I think these Gold Marquise Diamond Drop Hoop Earrings, £89, and Gold Curved Diamond Style Huggie Hoop Earrings, £79, appear far pricier than their actual cost. A huge new nightclub and live music venue is opening in suburban Sydney next month

When the latest stretch of Sydney Metro opened back in August, Bella Vista – the leafy suburb in Sydney's Hills Shire – became a whole lot more accessible, with a direct metro line zipping straight there from Martin Place in just under 45 minutes. Now, there's a new reason to catch the metro out to the Hills, with Bella Vista set to welcome a huge new entertainment venue ready to host everything from techno-soundtracked club nights to major sporting events. Intrigued? Us too. With the telling name 'Bella Live', the multifunction new venue is dedicated to hosting live events, with the aim of becoming 'the beating heart of entertainment in the Hills.' Occupying a massive 1,029m² former warehouse, it's been engineered to host major touring acts – with three main rooms kitted out with custom audio systems, LED stage lighting, projection-style immersive lighting, and an AV system integrated throughout. Sydney-based architecture firm Archebiosis Architects was tasked with the design – bringing to life a warehouse-style space that combines an edgy, industrial aesthetic with sleek, modern design features. The result is a vast, super-club-style space complete with a 17.5-metre bar and a huge 10 x 8-metre stage flanked by VIP booths. Wondering what's coming up? At this stage, the program (which will kick off with a huge opening night on Saturday, August 9) features weekly Friday club nights, an Oktoberfest celebration on Sunday, September 28, and a special show from Aussie icon Daryl Braithwaite on Sunday, November 16. So far on the DJ front, Bella Live has locked in high-octane sets from SEKTA & Wongo (August 16), Set Mo (August 23), JaySounds (August 30), and Bag Raiders (September 6) – to name a few. With high-spec staging, audio and lighting, plus luxe green rooms and private ensuites for performers, the venue is aiming to position itself as a go-to for international artists. For sports fans, Bella Live will show UFC, F1, and Premier League action on giant screens, with plans for celebrity lunches, athlete meet-and-greets, and game-day brand activations in the works. Other events set to be hosted at the big new space include open mic nights, improv shows, author talks, weekend markets, and silent discos – it's absolutely not a one-trick pony. These are the best dancefloors in Sydney.
