Abu Dhabi to host Middle East Film & Comic Con for further two years following successful 13th edition - Middle East Business News and Information

Abu Dhabi, UAE –April: The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Informa have announced a partnership extension that will see Middle East Film & Comic Con (MEFCC) held in Abu Dhabi through to 2027. The agreement, which confirms the emirate as the event's home for a further two editions, was formalised during Arabian Travel Market 2025.
Since relocating to Abu Dhabi in 2022, MEFCC has firmly established itself as the biggest pop culture event in the region, experiencing remarkable growth and attracting diverse celebrities, artists, and fans. Each edition has surpassed previous attendance records, solidifying its position as a leading event for pop culture enthusiasts.
The 2025 edition, which concluded last week (18-20 April), welcomed 38,000 visitors, attracting 400 international brands and celebrities such as Andrew Garfield from the Amazing Spider-Man franchise, Charlie Cox from Matt Murdock, Natalia Dyer from Stranger Things, Hideo Ishikawa from Naruto, and Emily Rudd from One Piece. The popular Gaming Arena, in partnership with Abu Dhabi Gaming, delivered a line-up of gaming tournaments and challenges across consoles, PC, and mobiles. Gaming enthusiasts also had the exclusive opportunity to demo new games before anyone else.

This partnership extension with Informa further solidifies Abu Dhabi's position as a leading destination for entertainment and cultural experiences, attracting even more visitors from around the globe.'
MEFCC offers an expansive range of activities and exhibitions that celebrate various facets of pop culture, including film, television, gaming, anime, and comics. Past editions have featured high-profile guests such as David Harbour from Stranger Things, Hayden Christensen from Star Wars, Matt Smith from House of the Dragon, and Iñaki Godoy of One Piece, alongside voice acting legends from Transformers, Dragon Ball Z, and The Last of Us. The event also boasts popular attractions like the dynamic Artist Alley and the thrilling Gaming Zone, which hosts tournaments for popular games such as NBA2K, FIFA 23, Fortnite, and Rocket League, as well as new additions like the Collectors Gallery and Japanese Village.

During MEFCC event weekends, the emirate aims to attract more than 50,000 attendees, with a high number of international visitors expected. This aligns with Abu Dhabi's Tourism Strategy 2030 to boost visitor numbers to 39.3 million and increase the travel and tourism sector's GDP contribution to AED90 billion by 2030.

Yara Sameh Millie Bobby Brown and Gabriel LaBelle are teaming up in 'Just Picture It,' an upcoming romantic-comedy feature at Netflix. They will star as two college students who are surprised when their phones glitch and start showing them pictures from 10 years in the future, featuring them as a happily married couple with kids. It's mostly weird because they have yet to meet each other. Lee Toland Krieger ('The Age of Adaline') will direct 'Just Picture It' from a script by Jesse Lasky, who used to write for 'The Late Show With David Letterman.' Brown has shepherded 'Just Picture It' from inception and will serve as a producer, while her husband, Jake Bongiovi, will executive produce. The 21-year-old was propelled to fame as a pre-teen on Netflix's 'Stranger Things', which the fifth and final season debuts in November. Brown has since worked closely with the giant streamer on the Sherlock Holmes spinoff series 'Enola Holmes' and fantasy adventure 'Damsel.' She also has 'Enola Holmes 3' in the works at Netflix as well as plans to adapt her debut novel 'Nineteen Steps' into a feature film. LaBelle, 22, broke out as a young Steven Spielberg in the director's semi-autobiographical drama 'The Fabelmans.' He then proceeded to play another Hollywood heavyweight, 'Saturday Night Live' creator Lorne Michaels, in director Jason Reitman's 'Saturday Night.' 'Just Picture It' will also be produced by Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum for RK Films as well as Robert Brown for PCMA Productions. Here's Our First Look at "Stranger Things" Season 5
Yara Sameh Netflix has unveiled the teaser trailer for the fifth and final season of 'Stranger Things.' Created by the Duffer Brothers, 'Stranger Things 5' picks up in the aftermath of Vecna leaving Max in a coma and spreading the Upside Down into Hawkins. At the end of the explosive trailer, Vecna arrives to go to war against the gang. The official synopsis for 'Stranger Things 5' reads, 'Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will's disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they've faced before. To end this nightmare, they'll need everyone — the full party—standing together, one last time.' In May, Netflix revealed that the final season of the mega-hit show will be released in three parts: the first debuting on November 26, the second December 25 and the series finale December 31. Each volume releases at 5 pm PT. The main cast returning for Season 5 includes Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Jim Hopper, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Sink as Max Mayfield, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Maya Hawke as Robin Buckley, Jamie Campbell Bower as Vecna and more. Travis Scott to Bring ‘Circus Maximus' Tour to Abu Dhabi This November
Travis Scott will take the stage in Abu Dhabi for the first time this November, bringing his 'Circus Maximus' tour to Etihad Park as part of a six-country international run. Jul 15, 2025 American rapper Travis Scott is set to perform in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, November 15th, as part of his 'Circus Maximus' world tour. The event will take place at Etihad Park on Yas Island and marks the UAE stop in a tour that includes Johannesburg, Delhi, Sanya, Tokyo, and Seoul. Presented by Live Nation Middle East in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism, the concert is expected to draw a major crowd. The original 'Circus Maximus' tour broke records as the highest-grossing rap tour in history, earning over USD 209 million across 76 sold-out shows and drawing 1.7 million fans worldwide. Presale tickets go live on July 17th at 12 PM GST, with general sales opening on July 18th at the same time. Tickets will be available via Travis Scott's and Live Nation's official websites.
