Responding to recent remarks by Sabah Umno Youth Vice Chief Bobby Balang, Robert defended Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor's call for public discernment amid widespread social media misinformation. 'The Chief Minister never questioned Sabahans' intelligence, he urged wisdom in navigating unverified claims,' he said. Robert reaffirmed GRS's commitment to transparency, adding that corruption will not be tolerated and institutional integrity remains a priority. He acknowledged ongoing challenges in infrastructure and utilities, but stressed that the current administration has acted to resolve inherited issues. 'Development isn't a cover for corruption , it's our mission. Real progress needs both better infrastructure and public trust,' he said. He urged all parties, especially federal unity government partners, to engage constructively saying Sabahans need solutions, not soundbites. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Baseless accusations driven by political desperation - PBS

Julita KOTA KINABALU (June 30): Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) strongly condemns the recent unfounded accusations of corruption made against the party and its leaders. Secretary-General Datuk Julita Majungki said that these allegations are not only false, but are clearly orchestrated political attacks intended to tarnish their reputation and undermine the trust that the people of Sabah have in the party. 'Let us be clear: PBS has always upheld the principles of integrity, humility and service to the people. Since our formation, we have stood firm in our mission to protect the rights of Sabahans and to fight for justice, fairness and autonomy within Malaysia. 'We do not serve ourselves. We serve the people. It is unfortunate that in today's political climate, when a party consistently stands for truth and refuses to compromise its values, it becomes a target,' she said. She said the attacks on PBS today are not new, adding that they are part of a familiar pattern of political persecution aimed at weakening those who refuse to play the backroom deals. 'Our leaders have long been known for their clean record, sincere leadership and modest lifestyle. These are not just words, they are values we live by. The people who know us best can vouch for our simple way of life and our commitment to grassroots service. 'That is why these accusations, lacking in evidence and substance, are all the more painful, not just for us, but for the people who believe in our struggle. To our critics, we would like to tell them that they can attack our name, but they cannot destroy our principles. 'We will not stoop to your level. We will not retaliate with lies or slander. Instead, we will continue doing what we have always done, and that is to serve Sabah with honesty, humility and strength of character,' she stressed. She added that PBS urges the public not to be misled by politically motivated narratives, adding that the party welcomes any investigation by independent, competent authorities, and that they are confident that the truth will prevail. 'In the end, the people of Sabah know who is truly working for them and who is merely playing politics. PBS will continue to walk the straight path. We are humbled by the support we continue to receive. 'We reaffirm our commitment to serve the people of Sabah with dignity and honesty, no matter how vicious the attacks may be. Together, let us rise above dirty politics. Together, we defend truth, justice, and Sabah,' she said. Malaysiakini claimed in a recent article that six more politicians from Sabah – including from PBS – were involved in the mining licence corruption.

KOTA KINABALU: The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)-led state government will not interfere in any investigation or legal proceedings related to the mining prospecting court case involving two of its elected representatives. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the matter would be left entirely to the legal process. 'We respect the law and will allow the legal process to take its course. "The GRS-led government will not interfere in any investigation or legal action involving its leaders,' he said in a statement on Monday (June 30). On their current positions within the state administration, Hajiji said the government would assess the situation once all relevant reports and information have been received. He stressed that the GRS administration remains committed to upholding integrity and accountability in the governance of the state. Andi Muhammad Suryady, who is the state Assistant Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister, and Dr Yusof, who chairs Qhazanah Sabah Berhad, are accused of receiving money from businessman Datuk Tei Jeinn Cheing. The payments were allegedly made as inducements to help secure mineral exploration licences for two companies linked to Tei's associates. Tei was also charged in the same court with offering bribes. All three claimed trial to the charges.

PBS Deputy Chief denies bribery allegations, mulls legal action against Malaysiakini

Published on: Monday, June 30, 2025 Published on: Mon, Jun 30, 2025 Text Size: KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Deputy President Datuk Sri Panglima Jahid Jahim has denied allegations published by Malaysiakini accusing him of receiving RM150,000 in bribes linked to a mining scandal. Describing the report as baseless, Jahid clarified that his ministry is not involved in mining license approvals and no such licenses have been issued in his Tamparuli constituency. He criticised the media outlet for allegedly creating a false corruption narrative without due process, echoing similar concerns raised by STAR President Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan. Jahid said the tactic mirrors past attempts to destabilise the state government ahead of elections, and confirmed he is seeking legal advice and reserves the right to take action against Malaysiakini and its authors. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
