Orlando Pirates transfer news: Saleng, Mofokeng, Rulani, Mayele

Orlando Pirates will likely be the busiest when the transfer window opens after a disappointing season.
Although the Buccaneers did not have a poor season overall, their lack of consistency only saw them win the MTN8.
The club have already parted ways with Miguel Timm and Innocent Maela last month. Another player rumoured to leave is winger Monnapula Saleng. The 27-year-old has not kicked a ball in Bucs colours since December.
Orlando Pirates legend Benedict Tso Vilakazi said Saleng can help rivals Kaizer Chiefs if he decides to jump ship and joins rivals.
'Is he (Saleng) that type of a player that can really play for Chiefs, the way they are playing? I don't think so. An example, look at (Gaston) Sirino, he's no more the Sirino we knew at (Mamelodi) Sundowns, because of the type of players surrounding him,' he said on Omniaaudioafrica .
'What's happening to Sirino now, is the same thing that happened to Khama Billiat. The same thing that happened to Keagan Dolly and now it's happening to Sirino, you can't have Sirino alone and not have other good players surrounding him.
'Obviously he's going to have a lot on his shoulders. So he needs support. So even if Saleng goes and plays for Chiefs, he's going to struggle like Sirino is struggling, because there's no core at Chiefs that is very strong, that when everyone come in (they fit in) like puzzles. Those puzzles at Chiefs are scattered,' Vilakazi concluded.
Another player that could leave Orlando Pirates is Relebohile Mofokeng. The 20-year-old has been the club's best player this past season and has been linked to several European teams in the past.
Regarding players coming in, the Buccaneers have inquired about several PSL players, including Thabang Matuludi. Given how their CAF Champions League campaign ended, it's not a surprise that Pirates are linked with Pyramids striker Fiston Mayele. The Congolese star inspired the Egyptians to their first-ever CAF Champions League title.
With Jose Riveiro having left the ship last month, the Buccaneers have the task of finding his replacement. The Spaniard spent three seasons at Pirates, winning five trophies with the Soweto giants.
Former Wydad Casablanca head coach Rulani Mokwena is one of the favourites for the job. The 38-year-old coach has managed Orlando Pirates before in 2019 but his spell was less memorable.

What are Orlando Pirates not saying about Relebohile Mofokeng?

Orlando Pirates have denied reports of a R120 million offer from PSV for striker Relebohile Mofokeng, but their statement did not address his future at the club, leaving uncertainty about his potential departure. Picture: Itumeleng English/Independent Media Image: Itumeleng English/Independent Media As the rumours continue to swirl about the future of star Orlando Pirates striker Relebohile Mofokeng, it's worth taking a closer look at the statement from the club on the player. Pirates were quick to rubbish reports on July 16 that PSV had made an offer of R120m for the 20-year-old. According to Mofokeng's market value is around R33 million. In a 178-word statement on its website, Pirates went on the offensive to say no such offer had been received by the club. Video Player is loading. What was revealing about the statement though, is that nowhere did it say something to dispel rumours that Mofokeng may in fact be leaving the club. Instead, it targeted the publication for publishing the story and the amount in question. Surely if the club wanted to stamp out rumours about Mofokeng, it would add that Mofokeng is committed to his future at the club? Pirates' Silence on Player Rumours: Monnapule Saleng's Absence and Mofokeng's Future Uncertain It's not the first time Pirates have done little to prevent rumours starting about their players. For over six months, there was no word on Monnapule Saleng. The star player was inexplicably absent from the Pirates team since December 7. There had even been rumours that Saleng might join rivals Kaizer Chiefs at one point, and yet Pirates did not address such reports. Only when he was loaned out to Orbit College earlier this month did the public get any clarification on his future. As for Mofokeng, whether he continues to ply his trade for Pirates remains to be seen; all we know is how much money hasn't been offered for the young talent. @Michael_Sherman IOL Sport

Orlando Pirates new top signing set to miss MTN8 clash

Orlando Pirates could be without their new top signing Oswin Appollis, ahead of their MTN8 opener against Polokwane City. The Buccaneers take on Rise and Shine at the Orlando Stadium on 2 August in the quarter-finals of the MTN8. Pirates have won the competition four times in the last five editions and are heavy favourites to lift the cup. Speaking following their pre-season tour in Spain, the Orlando Pirates coach confirmed that some players sustained minor injuries, but did not specify if any of them were new signings. 'It is expected that there will be some minor injuries and swelling in various players since football is played by young men,' Ouaddou said as per Isolezwe. Appollis played several pre-season friendly matches and against Pafos, he looked explosive, which convinced Pirates fans that the club made the right choice signing the 23-year-old He missed the games against former La Liga clubs UD Las Palmas and Granada CF due to a minor injury, according to reports. Kaizer Chiefs news: New season, doubts grow, deal delayed

As the new season edges closer, uncertainty is growing around Kaizer Chiefs' transfer dealings and overall squad readiness. After a trophy-winning campaign that ended a decade-long drought, expectations are (as always) high for Amakhosi, but recent developments have left fans and insiders uneasy. One of the club's most talked-about potential signings, Etiosa Ighodaro, has yet to be finalised, with the deal reportedly delayed due to last-minute negotiations and administrative holdups. While Chiefs remain interested, sources close to the matter say there is no confirmed contract on the table. 'The talks are still ongoing,' a club insider revealed. 'There is optimism, but no guarantee yet. It's taking longer than expected, and that's causing some frustration.' Despite lifting the Nedbank Cup recently, Kaizer Chiefs' cohesion and tactical sharpness remain a work in progress, sparking questions about whether the team is ready to challenge for major honours again. Head coach Nasreddine Nabi has been vocal about his ambitions but also about the challenges facing the club. 'We need the right players to strengthen the squad. Without that, it will be difficult to sustain success,' Nabi stated after winning the Nedbank Cup. 'My focus is on preparing the team, but the management must deliver on promises made regarding reinforcements.' Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1.
