Commenting on the commotion before the kick-off of the Malaysia Cup final yesterday, she expressed concern that such incidents could deter other supporters, particularly families, from attending sporting events.
'When incidents like this happen, they tarnish the atmosphere and may make some feel unsafe about going to stadiums. The Safe Sport Code is not only meant for athletes and coaches, but also applies to supporters to ensure everyone's safety.

'So I urge those who come just to cause chaos to change their attitude, because it is detrimental to football. What we want is positive reporting, so that whole families can enjoy sport and recreation peacefully, as a form of stress relief,' she told reporters after officiating the Closing Ceremony of the Rakan Muda Convention 2025 here today.
At the same time, she noted the encouraging trend of many supporters bringing their children to watch the final between Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) and Sri Pahang FC at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil last night.
In last night's action, JDT defeated Sri Pahang 2-1 to clinch the 2024/2025 Malaysia Cup, creating history by winning all four major Malaysian football titles — the Super League, FA Cup, Malaysia Cup and Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Cup (Charity Shield) — for the third consecutive time.
Meanwhile, Hannah also congratulated former Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) president Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria, who was elected as a Council Member of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) for the 2025-2029 term in Xiamen, China, yesterday.
'This proves that his leadership is recognised by BWF. I wish him all the best and hope he continues to bring honour to Malaysia on the international stage, as it reflects his leadership qualities,' she said.

Yeoh predicts rise in sexual misconduct reports
KUALA LUMPUR: Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh is expecting more cases of sexual misconduct to come into the spotlight in the future. Yeoh said this is due to increased awareness within the sports community following the implementation of the Safe Sports Code, which was launched by Yeoh in 2023. The Safe Sports Code, which was implemented to provide a safe environment for all involved in sports, provides stakeholders a guideline in regards to their rights and what steps to take if they are faced with issues concerning misconduct. "There has again been more news, most recently a former (national) athlete and coach was charged in court for sexual misconduct," said Yeoh today. "With the Safe Sports Code and increased awareness we have now, I believe we will be reading about more cases like this. "I believe this is a positive development, cases like this can no longer be swept under the carpet. Action is being taken by the authorities. "I hope victims will be brave to come forward and file a report with the authorities if they face issues such as this." The case Yeoh was referring to was the case involving former national road cyclist Nor Effandy Rosli. The 1998 Commonwealth Games silver medallist claimed trial at the Sessions Court earlier this month to a charge of sexually assaulting a female trainee, who was 15, last year. Yeoh was speaking after officiating the 2024 Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM)-100PLUS awards ceremony today (July 14).

Pei Jing accepts invite to spar with French shuttlers
PETALING JAYA: Independent mixed doubles shuttler Lai Pei Jing has accepted an invitation to spar with the French team ahead of the World Championships from Aug 25-31 in Paris. The experienced Pei Jing was approached by French coaches when she was competing with Jimmy Wong in the Luxembourg Open in May. "During a tournament in Luxembourg, French coaches approached me and asked if I was interested in sparring with their players. "I spoke to my coach (Teo Kok Siang) about it because the players here (in Malaysia) also need me. "But he understood that I needed the money, so he gave me his blessing. "This is my first time serving as a sparring partner for another country – but my heart remains with the Malaysian players," said Pei Jing. The French team, which includes world No. 8 Alex Lanier (men's singles) and world No. 7 Thom Gicquel-Delphine Delrue (mixed doubles) will definitely be eyeing a good showing in the world meet at home. Pei Jing, who will turn 33 in August, made nine appearances in the world meet, three with Tan Aik Quan and six with Tan Kian Meng, and came closest to winning a medal in 2022 when she and Kian Meng reached the quarter-finals. Pei Jing ended her partnership with Kian Meng in March after the latter decided to retire from the sport.

Sprinter Azeem, Umar chase glory at World University Games in Germany
Sprinter Mohd Azeem Fahmi with the national flag. - Bernama SEPANG: Malaysia's main hopes in the World University Games starting on Thursday are national sprint champion Mohd Azeem Fahmi and national 400m record holder Umar Osman. The other hopefuls for the Games in Rhine-Ruhr are the 2024 Paris Olympic Games archery representatives Syagiera Mashayikh, Ariana Nur Dania Mohamad Zairi and Nurul Azreena Mohamad Fazil. These athletes were part of the largest group of Malaysian contingent, who left for the Games on Sunday. The other athletes are 15 from badminton, followed by swimming (eight), taekwondo (11) and seven officials. The opening ceremony for the Games will be at the Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena on July 16 (Wednesday). Malaysia are targeting seven medals regardless of colour in this edition, and will participate in six of the 19 sports, involving the participation of 64 athletes, consisting of 39 men and 25 women. The six sports that the national contingent will participate in are artistic gymnastics, badminton, archery, athletics, swimming and taekwondo In the 2023 edition in Chengdu, China, the national contingent recorded the best achievement in the history of their participation in the Games with a collection of one gold, one silver and five bronze medals.
