United cruise over Bournemouth in EPL friendly
Goals from Rasmus Hojlund, Patrick Dorgu, Amad Diallo and teenager Ethan Williams sealed an encouraging result for Ruben Amorim's side at a rainy, windswept Soldier Field.
United, who had opened their tour with a 2-1 victory over West Ham on Saturday, were always in control against the Cherries, taking the lead after just eight minutes through Hojlund.
Dorgu curled in an inviting cross from the left flank and Denmark international team-mate Hojlund timed his run and jump to perfection to glance a header past Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.
Dorgu then doubled United's lead in the 25th minute, latching on to a clever, lofted quick free-kick from Mason Mount, muscling his way into the area and sliding a cool finish beneath the advancing Petrovic.
Diallo bundled in United's third in the 53rd minute before Amorim made nine changes with 20 minutes to go.
Substitute Williams needed just two minutes to make an impact curling a low finish into the bottom corner to put United 4-0 up.
The only blemish on United's performance came with an 88th-minute own goal from Matthijs de Ligt.
In Wednesday's other Premier League friendly in Chicago, West Ham came from behind to beat former manager David Moyes's Everton 2-1.
Idrissa Gueye put Everton 1-0 up after 17 minutes before West Ham recovered to equalise through Brazilian international Lucas Paqueta just before half-time. Germany international Niclas Fullkrug's 64th-minute strike sealed the Hammers' win.
The result was another disappointing pre-season setback for Everton, who were soundly beaten 3-0 by Bournemouth on Saturday.
"I'm not overly concerned because I don't have the players which I need and what I want," Everton boss Moyes said afterward.
"We knew before we came (to the US) we were going to be really up against it. So, it was never going to be us coming here and winning."
"At the moment we're not ready to perform well enough in this tournament, and we're not ready to start the Premier League season."
The four-team competition concludes in Atlanta on Sunday, with United facing Everton and West Ham taking on Bournemouth.

The Red Devils earned a final point in Atlanta to top the table with seven in the pre-season friendly tournament, having previously beaten West Ham 2-1 and Bournemouth 4-1 in the round-robin US tour. "It's improving," Fernandes told Sky Sports after the match. "I think the club is doing the best that they can. "We needed more competition for the players that were here. We needed more quality to get everyone to step up a little bit more, to have more to do to get into the first 11. I think that's what the club is trying to do, the manager, and hopefully we can get one or two players more to help with that." Manchester United finished last season 15th in the Premier League, their worst showing since relegation in 1973-74, managing only 11 wins and nine drawn from 38 matches. "I think a lot of people have suffered from this," Fernandes said. "The fans pay more for the tickets and we really appreciate all the efforts they do for us. "So it's up to us now players to repay it on the pitch." Fernandes said the club is working to improve from team and staff to facilities. "It's every detail. Fernandes critical of ‘lazy' Manchester United in pre-season draw with Everton
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes let rip at his teammates following their 2-2 pre-season draw with fellow Premier League side Everton, saying their performance was 'lazy' and calling for further reinforcements. A second-half goal from Mason Mount had United on course for victory in Atlanta, Georgia after Fernandes's opener was cancelled out by Iliman Ndiaye, but a bizarre 75th-minute own goal by Ayden Heaven gifted Everton the draw on Sunday. The draw put a slight damper on the Old Trafford club's tour of the United States, after promising victories over West Ham United and Bournemouth last month. 'It's been important for developing how we want to play and getting the new players involved too,' Fernandes told NBC Sports. 'We didn't want to finish in this way. Our performance wasn't the best and we were a little bit lazy today. We want to avoid that because with laziness you can pay at any moment.' 'We are going with the feeling that we need to do a lot of things (better).' United begin the new Premier League season against Arsenal on August 17.
