Edinburgh passengers face 'cancellations' after emergency 'incident' closes lines
ScotRail took to X on Wednesday, May 28, after emergency services were called to an incident between Portlethen and Aberdeen.
The rail operators stated lines had to be closed in order to allow emergency services personnel to safely enter the railway.

A ticket acceptance scheme is in place with both City Link and Stagecoach.
On social media, ScotRail said: "Emergency services are dealing with an incident between Portlethen and Aberdeen. To allow them to safely access the railway and carry out their work, all lines running between these stations are currently closed.

"We have ticket acceptance in place with @ScotCitylink buses between Aberdeen and Dundee, and with @StagecoachEScot buses between Montrose and Dundee. Just show your valid ticket or Smartcard to the driver when boarding the bus.
"Train services between Dundee and Arbroath will be suspended, with services between Aberdeen and Glasgow Queen Street/Edinburgh subject to cancellation, delay or revision."

'I am moving forward': Mum praises Glasgow charity that helped her rebuild
A mum is praising a Glasgow charity as it celebrates its 25th anniversary. Shazia, a mum living in Glasgow after seeking asylum from Pakistan, has extended her thanks to family support charity Home-Start Glasgow South She said: 'Thanks to Home-Start Glasgow South, I am happy. 'I am learning. 'I am moving forward.' She was living in temporary accommodation and spoke no English. Following the birth of her daughter, she experienced severe anxiety and depression. Shazia said: 'I just couldn't cope. 'I would wake in the night screaming, thinking someone was trying to kill me.' Her GP referred her to Home-Start Glasgow South, which became a turning point. She said: 'A kind lady came to see me and gave me the courage to carry on. 'She would say, these feelings will pass. 'Maybe tomorrow will be better. 'And slowly, slowly, it was.' With the charity's support, Shazia joined a parents' group, built friendships with other mothers and secured permanent housing. Home-Start Glasgow South also arranged for a volunteer tutor to visit Shazia, who then encouraged her to apply for college. She is now studying English and settling into life in Glasgow. Her husband Tahir said: 'I am so proud of Shazia – and of how well our kids are doing in school. 'Home-Start Glasgow South has given us hope for the future.' Home-Start Glasgow South has provided emotional and practical support to thousands of families in the south of the city since 2000. The charity helps parents adjust to life with a new baby, cope with isolation or manage the effects of poverty and mental health struggles. It has more than doubled its reach over the past decade, now supporting 370 families and 798 children each year. 'For 25 years, we've walked alongside families, offering friendship, understanding and hope. 'We are incredibly proud of the impact we've made – and excited for what the future holds.'

Trump says Epstein ‘stole' Virginia Giuffre from Mar-a-Lago staff role
Donald Trump suggested on Tuesday that Jeffrey Epstein, the late sex offender he socialized with for more than a decade, 'stole' Virginia Giuffre and other young female staffers whom he hired away from the president's Mar-a-Lago country club. Speaking to reporters onboard Air Force One as he returned to Washington from Scotland, Trump was asked to elaborate on his earlier comments about falling out with Epstein because he took employees from his business. The president said on Monday that he had kicked Epstein out of his club 'because he did something that was inappropriate' – specifically, that 'he stole people that worked for me'. In a statement last week, spokesperson Steven Cheung said Trump 'kicked him out of his club for being a creep'. The president's account of the break being motivated by pique at having his employees poached by his friend cast the break in a different light. On Tuesday, a reporter asked Trump: 'The workers that were taken from you – were some of them young women?' Trump replied: 'The answer is yes, they were. People that worked in the spa.' Another reporter then asked Trump if one of the people he was referring to was Giuffre, one of Epstein's most prominent accusers who said in a lawsuit that she was hired away from the Mar-a-Lago spa by Epstein's accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell in 2000, when she was 16. Giuffre, who died this year, alleged in her complaint that she was first abused by Epstein and Maxwell together, and then 'lent out to other powerful men', including Prince Andrew. 'I think she worked at the spa,' Trump replied. 'I think so. I think that was one of the people, yeah. He stole her. And by the way, she had no complaints about us, as you know. None whatsoever.' The president and his administration are working desperately to change the subject away from Epstein – an issue that has lately roiled his base. But his latest claim that one of those employees was the 16-year-old Giuffre also complicates the timeline. Giuffre was hired away from Mar-a-Lago in 2000, but two years later, Trump spoke highly of Epstein to a reporter. 'I've known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy,' Trump told New York magazine in late 2002. 'He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.' Sarah Blaskey, a Miami Herald investigative reporter, also pointed out in her 2020 book on Mar-a-Lago that Epstein remained on the membership rolls of Mar-a-Lago until October 2007, more than a year after he was first arrested and charged with soliciting prostitution from a minor. 50 years ago: Boys catch a rare fish at Gourock's McInroy's Point (1975)
WHEN John Stark and Graeme Warwick found themselves at a loose end at the start of the school holidays they decided to do some fishing. The result of that activity can be seen here, with a proud John. The boys had been fishing at McInroy's Point a short time when they reeled in a line and found at the end of it a strange fish they could not identify. He consulted a reference book and eventually the fish was identified on a wall chart as a comber or sea perch.
