Reddit user Anubiroz posted the image, saying it was taken by a friend in the afternoon and showed a shape that looked a bit suspicious 'for a kite or a drone.' 'Taken by a friend near his long house at Saratok in the afternoon... Zoom in... does it look like a kite or a stealth bomber. He said it made a swish sound.. Hmmmm. Looks kinda sus [sic] for a kite or a drone. Any ideas?' Anubiroz wrote on Reddit . Another user, Monsta_Owl, commented that it looked like a 'B2 bomber by the looks of it,' a view echoed by several others in the thread. The B-2 Spirit bomber is a long-range stealth aircraft used by the United States Air Force, capable of carrying conventional and nuclear weapons while remaining difficult to detect on radar. The aircraft, which has been operational since the 1990s, was used in strikes in Iran in 2025, underscoring its continued role in US precision missions. Keningau village is gazetted

KENINGAU: The decades-long wait for over 200 residents of Kampung Ria Atas near here has finally come to an end, with the official gazettement of their village on June 25. The Certificate of Gazettement was handed over at the Bingkor Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM) office, where Acting Village Chairman Andrew Badsut presented a copy of the gazettement letter to State Assistant Minister of Works and Bingkor Assemblyman, Datuk Robert Tawik @ Nordin, represented by Bingkor Community Development Leader (PPM), Junior Fred Vincent Marukau. Advertisement Andrew said the gazettement is 'the greatest gift for the entire community,' made possible through the continued struggle and strong cooperation between the residents and the authorities. 'We are deeply grateful and thankful to all parties who never gave up in helping us fight for the official status of our village. This is a people's victory born from the spirit of unity,' he said, while expressing appreciation to the leaders and agencies who played a key role in the process. He said that this was not just about having things in black and white, but a symbol that the voices of rural communities had been heard and valued. 'Now, our younger generation has a more secure future,' he said. Meanwhile, Robert said that gazetting a village is not merely an administrative procedure, but a recognition of the rights, dignity and identity of rural communities. 'As long as I am given the mandate, I will ensure that no village is left behind in the wave of development. Kampung Ria Atas is now more than just a name, it stands as a symbol of the strength, spirit and perseverance of a people who never gave up,' he said. With this official status, Kampung Ria Atas will now have greater access to basic amenities, development allocations and government programmes specific to gazetted villages. 700 facing eviction want government to step in

KENINGAU: More than 700 residents from eight villages in Mukim Dalit Sook want Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to intervene and resolve their ancestral land problem with a company that issued eviction notices in May. They were shocked to suddenly receive eviction notices from a company holding Title Grant PL 136291659, delivered through a law firm based in Kota Kinabalu. Advertisement The eviction notice, dated on May 8, gave residents 30 days from the date of service to vacate the land and hand over vacant possession to the company. However, residents from the eight affected villages — Kampung Bonor, Kabatang Luku Malaing, Likowon, Desa Permai Haksa Pupuhi Melosok, Sanang, Dalit Station, Karamatoi and Angkawangan — refused to leave the land they claim their ancestors occupied for generations. Jamir Ubi, who is the Chairman of the Joint Action Committee for the villages of Mukim Dalit, said they lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) seeking advice and assistance. On June 23 and 24, Suhakam conducted an official visit to these eight villages to hear first-hand their complaints and concerns. 'This is not newly settled land. This is our ancestral heritage. It's where we have built our lives, supported our families and grown our livelihoods,' Jamir said. He said their land title applications (PT) were submitted as far back as 1995, but were rejected on grounds that the area was classified as Forest Reserve. Yet in 2014, the company's application was approved in a short period of time. 'This left us feeling marginalised and forced out of our ancestral birthplace,' Jamir said sadly. Many voiced deep concern about their families' future, especially for the elderly and children who would have nowhere to go if the eviction proceeds. Suhakam expressed concern over possible human rights violations, particularly the right to housing, dignified living and procedural justice. English boost for 51 rural schools

Kota Kinabalu: A total of 51 schools across 14 districts in Sabah are now part of the rural focus English for all (REAL) programme since its inception in 2016. "More than 10,000 students have benefitted from this initiative, which has received about RM1 million in funding for the purchase of teaching materials,' said Tulip Noorazyze, Chair of Project REAL under the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu (RCKK) Pearl. Advertisement She said the programme includes inter-school and inter-district competitions, and teacher training workshops. 'Over the past nine years, we've seen significant improvements in students' English examination results and overall proficiency. This progress is also reflected in the annual poem writing, speech, and storytelling competitions,' she added. The club also organises annual teacher training workshops, conducted by professional English language trainers, to introduce creative and engaging methods for teaching English in rural schools. She said the club will continue its efforts to expand the programme to as many rural schools as possible. This year, the initiative was launched in 12 primary schools across Pitas, Papar, and Beaufort, in collaboration with the Sabah State Education Department. The schools in Pitas are SK Rosob, SK Bangkau-Bangkau, and SK Bawing. In Papar, the schools involved are SK Pekan Papar, SJKC Tung Shan, SK Lingan, and SK Ulu Lumagar. The participating schools in Beaufort are SK Padas Damit, SK Kota Klias, SK Biah Batu 65, SK Linungkuan, and SK Lembah Poring. The launch was officiated by Senior Assistant Director of the Language Unit at the Sabah Education Department, Nancy @ Aminah Idrus. Also present were RCKK Pearl President Chendramata Sinteh, Elder Larry and Sister Hathaway from Latter-day Saints (LDS) Charities, who sponsored the programme in the 12 schools. Project REAL aims to bridge the English proficiency gap between rural and urban students. Each school receives between 400 and 600 English storybooks, bilingual dictionaries for all students, smart TVs or LCD projectors, bookshelves, floor mats, and stools donated by the club. As part of the project's requirements, each headmaster or headmistress and the English language panel must draw up five action plans to enhance English proficiency in their schools.
