The Los Angeles Dodgers are ready to make moves at the trade deadline, and they have their eyes on one of the biggest bats on the market.
MLB insider Jon Heyman is reporting the Dodgers are keeping their eyes on Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan, and he lists one of the players who could go back to Cleveland in a trade.

CLEVELAND, OHIO - JULY 29: Steven Kwan #38 of the Cleveland Guardians rounds second base on a hit by Daniel Schneemann #10 during the first inning against the Colorado Rockies at Progressive Field on July 29, 2025 in Cleveland, Ohio. More"Dodgers are one of many teams in on Guardians All-Star LF Steven Kwan," Heyman wrote in a post on X. "Dodgers could form a nice package starting with top catching prospect Dalton Rushing, who is blocked for years by MVP candidate Will Smith."
In addition to adding relievers, it's unsurprising Los Angeles wants to add an outfielder to its team. Left fielder Michael Conforto has been a major disappointment for the Dodgers so far this year, and he's running out of time to keep his starting spot.
As Heyman mentions, Rushing could be one of the main pieces going back to the Guardians in exchange for Kwan. Rushing has no path to the majors right now, and the Dodgers wouldn't want to keep him in Triple-A.
Given that Kwan has 2 1/2 years of team control remaining, it will take a lot more than Rushing to get the Guardians to accept a deal. The Dodgers would likely have to part with Rushing plus two of their top five prospects for Cleveland to even consider a deal.
The Dodgers know adding a bat like Kwan would help them with their ultimate goal: winning the World Series again. Whether they want to be this aggressive remains to be seen.

Browns' rookie Dillon Gabriel gets promotion in QB competition

The Cleveland Browns have two rookie quarterbacks. Only one has seen any time with the first-team offense, and it's not Shedeur Sanders. On Saturday, and not for the first time this week, Dillon Gabriel took the field at the helm of the 1s. The Athletic's Zac Jackson reported the latest news Saturday, with Gabriel getting the first-team time in an 11-on-11 period. Meanwhile on Saturday, Sanders missed practice with a throwing arm injury. This shouldn't be entirely shocking, given the circumstances. Gabriel was chosen at No. 94 overall in the NFL Draft, near the end of the third round. Yes, it was a lot higher than he was projected to go, but clearly, Cleveland liked him. Sanders went at No. 144. MORE: Micah Parsons breaks silence on his trade request From the start, Gabriel has had that leg up on his fellow rookie. Beating out veterans Joe Flacco and/or Kenny Pickett is a different story. A Pickett injury has opened a bit more time for Gabriel, too. Flacco is 40, and he'd only be a stopgap option. It'd probably be better for Cleveland long-term if Gabriel is ready to get real time at QB this season to prove whether he belongs going forward or if they'll need to draft a quarterback higher up next year. Gabriel was a college star, from UCF to Oklahoma to Oregon. He holds the FBS record for career touchdowns and is second all-time in passing yards and total yards, behind just Case Keenum. MORE: Buccaneers' coach reveals chances of Shilo Sanders making Tampa Bay NFL roster The lefty doesn't have the biggest arm, but he's always been steady and accurate. Sometimes, that's all a team need. Gabriel clearly has tons of high-level football experience. The NFL is a different beast, but if anyone was going to be prepared by their college experiences, it'd be him. A bit of practice time with the 1s doesn't mean Gabriel will be starting in Week 1. But it does give him a chance to get real time this year, and it shows the Browns believe in him. That's something worth noting. Yandy Diaz hits 2 home runs off Blake Snell as Rays beat Dodgers 3-0

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Yandy Diaz hit two home runs off Blake Snell, Drew Rasmussen threw 5 1/3 scoreless innings and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-0 on Saturday. In front of a sold-out crowd of 10,046, Diaz opened the scoring in the first with a 326-foot shot off his former teammate Snell, who was making his first major league start since April 2. Diaz hit a two-run homer in the third inning for his 20th of the season. He also singled off Snell in the fifth with a line drive to center. Rasmussen (9–5) struck out six and scattering four hits, all singles. The Dodgers never got a runner to second base against him. They threatened with the bases loaded against Garrett Cleavinger in the sixth, but he got an inning-ending double play to hold the lead. Snell (1–1) was charged with three runs on five hits. He was activated off the injured list Saturday morning and struck out eight in just his third start for the Dodgers since signing a $182 million deal this winter. Junior Caminero added insurance in the sixth with his 27th home run of the season, a solo shot off Jack Dreyer. Key moment With one out and a runner on in the top of the sixth, Cleavinger gave up back-to-back singles to Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani, before he got Teoscar Hernandez to bounce into the inning-ending double play. Key stat Diaz's leadoff home run in the first inning marked the 900th hit of his career. Up next The Dodgers will send right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto (9–7, 2.63 ERA) to the mound for the series finale Sunday. Joe Boyle (1–1, 2.82) starts for the Rays in their final home game before a 14-day road trip. ___ AP MLB:

Guardians add Carlos Hernández to roster and call up prospect C.J. Kayfus from Columbus

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Guardians added right-hander Carlos Hernández to the roster and selected the contract of first baseman/outfielder C.J. Kayfus from Triple-A Columbus before Saturday's game against the Minnesota Twins. To make room for Hernández and Kayfus, left-hander Tim Herrin and outfielder Johnathan Rodríguez were optioned to Columbus. Kayfus — a third-round pick in by the Guardians in the 2003 MLB Draft — made his major-league debut Saturday, batting eighth and playing right field. The 23-year old Kayfus started the season in Double-A Akron before being promoted to Columbus, where he batted .283 with 13 home runs and 43 RBIs. Hernández was claimed on waivers from Detroit on Thursday. He has split time this season between Philadelphia and Detroit. In 36 appearances, he is 1-0 with a 6.69 ERA. ___ AP MLB:
