
GCC Secretariat says no abnormal radiation levels detected after US strike on Iran
Riyadh: The GCC General Secretariat announced that no abnormal radiation levels have been detected in any of the GCC member states so far, and that environmental and radiological indicators remain within safe and permissible limits.
In a statement issued Sunday, the Secretariat affirmed that it is continuously monitoring the current regional situation and its developments through early warning and monitoring systems, in coordination with the relevant authorities in the member states. It also stated that reports will be published regularly as they are received.

Kaaba Kiswa replaced as Hijri Year 1447 begins
Mecca: The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque today held the ceremonial changing of the Kiswa, the black silk covering of the Holy Kaaba, in observance of the start of the Islamic year 1447 AH. The new Kiswa, weighing 1,415 kilograms and measuring 14 metres, has been installed. It consists of four separate sides and the curtain of the door. The belt of the Kiswa comprises 16 pieces, in addition to seven pieces below the belt, 17 lanterns beneath the belt, four panels inscribed with Surat Al-Ikhlas (a Qur'anic verse), and one piece representing the decoration of the mizab (water spout). The Kiswa consumes around 825 kilograms of raw silk, dyed black within the complex, 120 kilograms of gold-plated silver threads, 60 kilograms of pure silver threads and 410 kilograms of raw cotton.

Environmental situation in Oman is stable, no signs of elevated radiation
Muscat: The Environment Authority (EA) has confirmed that the environmental situation in the Sultanate of Oman is stable, with no signs of elevated radiation levels or any abnormal environmental impacts recorded so far. The EA noted that it is closely monitoring recent developments related to the targeting of nuclear sites in the region, in light of the ongoing escalation and the potential transboundary environmental repercussions. The EA confirmed that it operates within an integrated national system, in coordination with the relevant authorities, to monitor environmental and radiation data in real-time, through the radiation monitoring and early warning system deployed across the Sultanate of Oman's various governorates, in addition to continuous connectivity with relevant regional and international centers. The EA said that it monitors and follows up around the clock are continuing, as part of its role in protecting the environment and ensuring the safety of people and natural resources in Oman.
