Though he's currently a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, that didn't stop LeBron James from giving a shoutout to one member of the Cleveland Cavaliers front office on social media.
On Monday, ESPN NBA insider shams Charania posted on X that the Cavaliers had extended the contracts of president Koby Altman, general manager Mike Gansey, and assistant general manager Brandon Weems.
The post caught James' attention, and he promptly replied to Charania's post with a quote tweet congratulating Weems on his new deal.
"YESSIR!!! Congratulations to my brother B.Weems!! Super proud of u man 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙏🏾🤎," James wrote on X.

Though James' ties to the Cavaliers—a team he played for from 2003 to 2010, and again from 2014 to 2018—appear to be a thing of the past, he is still close with Weems, who Forbes' Evan Sidery pointed out is a close friend of the 21-time All-Star.
"For those wondering, Brandon Weems was LeBron James' high school teammate at St. Vincent-St. Mary," Sidery wrote. "Weems was hired by Cleveland a year after LeBron's original return in 2014 and became Assistant GM in 2022."
The timing of James' social media post is sure to have people talking as it was reported by NBA insider Scoop Robinson that the Cavaliers are one of four teams that reached out to James' agent Rich Paul about their interest in trading for him.
Hoops Wire also reported that Cleveland is interested in reuniting with James if he and the Lakers agree to a buyout this summer.

The Cavaliers are coming off one of the best seasons the franchise has ever had, winning 64 games — the second-most in franchise history — along with clinching the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference and earning just the eighth division title the team has ever won.
After dispatching of James' former team, the Miami Heat, in Round 1 of the NBA Playoffs, they fell 4-1 to the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference semifinal round. The Pacers fell in seven games to the NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder.
Under Altman, Gansey and Weems' leadership, the Cavaliers drafted two of their top players in two-time All-Star point guard Darius Garland and 2025 Defensive Player of the Year Evan Mobley—both with top-five draft picks—plus traded for six-time All-Star shooting guard Donovan Mitchell, who led the team in scoring during the regular season (24 points per game) and postseason (29.6 ppg).

Isaiah Thomas gets 53 points for the Boston Celtics in an all-time performance

Fans of the Boston Celtics love The King in the Fourth like they have loved few of the players who have passed through the roster of the storied franchise, and it is the oversized heart of the undersized guard that made them fall in love with Isaiah Thomas. And no moment in Celtics history made that clearer than Thomas putting up an absurd 53 points against the Washington Wizards in the 2017 NBA Playoffs after hours in a dentist chair to repair teeth broken in Game 1 of the series, and fresh on the heels of the loss of his sister Chyna in a tragic car accident. The folks behind the "NBC Sports Boston" YouTube channel put together a clip of that flashbulb moment in Boston history. Check it out below, whether it is to reminisce, or see it for yourself for the first time. If the latter, we promise you it will be worth your time in particular.

Aliyah Boston's shot wasn't falling, so she found other ways to help Fever win in front of hometown crowd

In front of 'a lot' of her friends and family — she didn't know exactly how many made the short trip to Causeway Street — Boston, who moved to Worcester from the US Virgin Islands at age 12, had an uncharacteristically quiet night. Prior to Tuesday's contest, she had scored 11 or fewer points in just eight games this season, five of which were part of the WNBA Commissioner's Cup tournament, which the Fever (12-10) won. Advertisement But while she struggled to get shots to fall, Boston found other ways to contribute. She pulled down six defensive rebounds and added four assists — second on the Fever behind Caitlin Clark — and was tasked with defending veteran Sun center Tina Charles, who she held to 7-of-19 shooting from the floor. 'She's one of the most selfless people on our team, and she's OK with that,' Fever guard Sophie Cunningham said of Boston. 'And that's what it's going to take to win these types of ball games.' Danielle Parhizkaran/Globe Staff Boston, who was not made available to the media after the game, had one point at halftime. She hit her first field goal of the night in the waning seconds of the third quarter, then opened the fourth with another two points. The rest of her 11 points came on free throws; she hit six in the fourth quarter alone. Fever coach Stephanie White said after the game that she was impressed with Boston's levelheadedness in the face of a difficult scoring night. 'Just trying to … have her stay the course and keep her focused on the things that she could control, and eventually it was going to open up for her,' White said. 'I thought she did a really good job of adjusting and staying locked in and knocking down her free throws when she got that opportunity.' Related : Even when Boston wasn't getting many shots up in the early going, White praised her ability to facilitate scoring opportunities for her teammates and called her the 'anchor' of the Fever defense. Cunningham agreed, noting that even when Boston isn't hitting her shots, opponents have no choice but to treat her as a scoring threat. 'She draws so much attention, people have to guard her,' Cunningham said. 'And when she draws like that, she opens it up for everyone else, like [Howard, who scored 18 points].' Boston is not one to stay down for long. After she put up a season-low four points against Atlanta in May, she returned two days later to go off for 27 points against the Eastern Conference-leading Liberty. Advertisement After a nine-point outing the last time the Fever faced the Sun in June, Boston put up 17 against the Valkyries, 26 against the Aces, and a staggering 31 against Seattle, all within the span of a week. Related : Boston's ability to rebound after tough nights could be crucial for the Fever, who may be without their superstar as they face the Liberty on Wednesday. In the final minute of Tuesday's game, Clark winced and grabbed at the groin area that has kept her sidelined for two different stints this season. White had no update on the injury after the game, saying the team would need to evaluate the extent of the injury. Tuesday's game marked the end of a quick but celebratory trip home for Boston, who spent Monday at the State House with her teammates as the governor celebrated the Fever forward's contributions to the sport and lauded her investment in Boston's forthcoming NWSL team, the Legacy. 'Growing up in Worcester and being in Boston, it just made the most sense — and obviously my last name's pretty cool,' Boston said at the State House. 'But honestly, I think being able to invest in a professional league is so important because as a professional athlete, as a professional woman athlete, it's just so crucial to make sure that we have exactly everything that we need and we're taken care of.' An All-Star Game that was once comfortably in the hands of the National League ended Tuesday night when the NL won, four homers to three, in the first tiebreaking home run swingoff in the history of the Midsummer Classic. The Phillies' Kyle Schwarber, a three-time All-Star, hit home runs on all three of his swings to help clinch the NL victory and secure an All-Star Game MVP for himself. The game was tied 6-6 before Schwarber, Pete Alonso of the Mets and Kyle Stowers of the Marlins combined to redeem the NL, defeating an American League group made up of the Athletics' Brent Rooker, Mariners' Randy Arozarena and the Rays' Jonathan Aranda. The derby tiebreaker was implemented as part of the 2022 collective bargaining agreement. Previous All-Star Games that were tied after nine went extra innings, most recently at Nationals Park in 2018, when the AL won in 10.
