The incident came to light when the staff of the hotel, where Navas (51) was staying for a film shoot, alerted authorities.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead, police said.
Police suspect he suffered a cardiac arrest.
A versatile entertainer, Navas earned widespread acclaim as a mimicry artist, playback singer and actor in Malayalam cinema.

Filmmaker Blessy, who helmed the much-anticipated survival drama Aadujeevitham – The Goat Life starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, has voiced his disappointment after the film failed to win a single award at the 71st National Film Awards. The film, which was widely expected to bag honours in cinematography, soundtrack, performances and even as Best Malayalam Film, was completely overlooked, leaving fans and critics surprised. But what has puzzled the director even more is the apparent change in stance by jury chairperson Ashutosh Gowariker, who had earlier praised the film. Now, Blessy is questioning how a film once admired in such glowing terms could be dismissed later on what he calls 'technical grounds." Blessy On Asutosh Gowariker's 'Double Standards' Speaking to OnManorama, Blessy shared that during a Mumbai premiere held for the film's Oscar campaign, Ashutosh Gowariker had not only praised Aadujeevitham profusely, but also compared it to the 1962 cinematic classic Lawrence of Arabia. He recalled, 'When we held a premiere in Mumbai as part of our Oscar campaign, I had reached out to him. We spoke at length, and he praised the film highly." The director recounted that Asutosh had stated that he hadn't seen a 'film that portrays desert so beautifully." Blessy shared, 'That comment felt like an award in itself. He even invited me to lunch the next day to discuss the film further, though I couldn't attend as I had to travel that night." He added, 'If someone appreciated the film in such detail before, how can they dismiss it on technical grounds? This seems like double standards." National Film Award Jury's Take On Aadujeevitham Despite fan expectations in categories like performance, cinematography, soundtrack and Best Malayalam Film, the survival drama was passed over completely. National Awards jury member Pradeep Nair explained what Asutosh thought about Aadujeevitham. Speaking to the same publication, Nair said, 'Jury Chairperson Ashutosh Gowariker had seen the movie at a previous film festival in Goa and had serious concerns about the film's adaptation and execution. Gowariker and others also felt the adaptation lacked naturality and the performances didn't feel authentic." Jury member Pradeep Nair confirmed that Aadujeevitham was very much in contention, but eventually lost out during the final round of discussions. According to him, the film narrowly missed winning in categories like Best Male Playback Singer and Best Lyrics, not due to creative shortcomings, but because of a technical lapse. He pointed out that the producers failed to provide an English translation of lyricist Rafeeq Ahammed's work, which disqualified it from the running. Nair also admitted that KR Gokul's performance was 'widely appreciated" by the jury, but it couldn't secure an award owing to concerns about the overall consistency and quality. So Who Took The Award Home? While Aadujeevitham left empty-handed, Christo Tomy's Ullozhukku took home the Best Malayalam Film title. Over 2,000 policemen killed in Paks restive KPK in 25 years: Report
Peshawar, Aug 4 (PTI) Over 2,000 policemen have been killed in terrorist attacks in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the last 25 years, a sharp increase from the 236 deaths recorded in the nearly 30 years before that, according to an official report released on Monday. The report, released by the Central Police Office, said that 2,330 policemen were killed in the province in the past 55 years, with 236 police officers being killed between 1970 and 1999. The number rose multifold in the next 25 years, with 2,094 police personnel being killed from the year 2000 to July 2025. There was a sharp rise in militant attacks after 2007, amid a surge in terrorism, with the police being targeted through bombings, ambushes, and targeted killings. The highest number of casualties was recorded in 2009, when 210 officers were killed in the province. Similarly, 108 policemen were killed in 2010, 154 in 2011, 106 in 2012, 135 in 2013 and 111 in 2014. The report highlights that although the frequency of attacks decreased slightly in the following years, targeted assaults on police saw a resurgence in recent times. In 2022, 93 police personnel were killed, and the figure rose to 188 in 2023. The death toll has reached 76 so far this year. At an event organised here to mark the 'Police Martyrs' Day' in Pakistan, KPK Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur announced a financial grant of Rs 50,000 each for the families of the policemen killed. Additional CMO suspended for drunken driving in Uttarakhand
Dehradun, Aug 4 (PTI) Additional Chief Medical Officer in-charge of the Chamoli district Mohammad Shah Hasan was suspended on Monday for allegedly driving his car under the influence of alcohol recently, and hitting two motorcycle riders in the Rudraprayag district, causing serious injuries to them. A report related to the incident submitted to the director general of medical health and family welfare on Sunday mentioned alcohol consumption by the ACMO, Health Secretary R Rajesh Kumar said. His car allegedly hit two motorcycle riders in the Tilani area of the Rudraprayag district. His conduct was in violation of the Uttarakhand State Employees Conduct Rules 2002, he said. Indiscipline, irresponsible behaviour or ignorance of service obligations at any level in the department will not be tolerated, he said, adding that the incident damages the credibility of the entire health system.
