Susan Sarandon will make her UK stage debut opposite Andrea Riseborough this autumn
She's never performed on the London stage, either. But she will finally do so this autumn, starring in outgoing Old Vic boss Matthew Warchus's premiere production of Tracy Letts's drama Mary Page Marlowe. It will run at the Vic from late September to early November – Sarandon will turn 79 during the stint.
And she'll be joined by a star of our own. Brit actress Andrea Riseborough is half Sarandon's age but has similarly traded the stage – where she was a regular in her twenties – for a busy and eclectic screen career that's taken in everything from Tom Cruise sci-fi Oblivion to her unexpectedly Oscar nomination garnering turned in the low budget indie flick To Leslie.
The two will joined forces to play the same woman at different ages in Lett's drama, which is a vivid but jumbled portrait of the title character's life that jumps around wildly over 70 years, slowly building up a picture. It's played to acclaim in Chicago – and now it's headed over here.
This is officially the first play in Warchus's final season running the Old Vic, which is expected to stretch on until summer 2026 before his successor Rupert Goold takes over next autumn. It's been announced that the Vic will be reconfigured into a more intimate in-the-round set up for the whole final season – there's no word of what the rest of the programming will be, but it does suggest that small dramas with big names might be how Warchus sees out his time – which we're definitely not complaining about.

The young Argentine has come to the end of his five-round deal, but is all set to grace Silverstone in Alpine's second seat. He has a unique insight into ex- Mercedes star Hamilton's world, having taken up the offer of a private jet ride to London with him after the Spanish Grand Prix instead of flying EasyJet, and has shed light on the encounter. "Yeah, it was nice. Lewis is a great guy and I had the best flight of my life with him. It was very special and very unique," said Colapinto after the Austrian Grand Prix. "You all know that he was my idol since I was very young, with [Aryton] Senna as well, and to be able to fly with him and have a bit of a chat. He asked if anyone was flying to London and I said I'm going to London, but on EasyJet. "And he came back saying he had a lot of space on his plane and invited me to go. It was quite special. Also flying private for the first time, two very unique experiences and a lot of stories from Lewis. "A very special flight. He's a great guy and I was very, very impressed by how he is as a person and how he is as a professional," shared the 22-year-old. "A lot to admire from the personal part from the sportsman. It was great, a dream come true and didn't have to fly on my EasyJet flight." The seven-time F1 champion has long preferred private plane travel, and in 2013, he spent £25million on a luxury Bombardier Challenger 605 in an unmissable cheery red colourway. However, due to environmental and financial reasons, he sold the jet in 2019, and it is assumed that the jet that he and Colapinto travelled on was rented, as Hamilton often does when making his way to and from races. While a 10th British GP victory would be poetic for Hamilton as he makes his Silverstone bow with his new team, fellow F1 icon Damon Hill believes another Brit will steal the show in Lando Norris. "Nigel Mansell used to say the support of a home crowd was worth a second a lap," Hill exclusively told the Mirror. "And it definitely adds something. "If I had to stick my neck out at Silverstone, it's got to be Lando. It feels like this is his time. I'm sure he'll be desperate to win it. Ferrari have a decent record in the British Grand Prix too, so you never know."

'Had I tried to release an album while I was drinking and using, I probably would have never released it, it probably would never have seen the light of day. If it did, god knows what it would have sounded like. I'm grateful that I took my time and waited until my instrument was clean and pure, and I could tell the stories that I wanted to tell.' Frankie, 42, is an American actor, singer, dancer, television host and producer who boasts 1 million Instagram followers and 1.5M TikTok followers. He performed on Broadway as Franz in the musical Rock of Ages (2014–2015) and in Mamma Mia! (2007–2010) and has also starred in regional theatre productions. TNA Wrestling star 'tipped to face AJ Styles' before WWE icon's retirement

The Phenomenal One was a pioneer of the X-Division in TNA before joining WWE in 2016, and now 20-year-old British wrestler Leon Slater, 20, has set his sights on the bout. Bradford-born Slater, who can make history by becoming the youngest ever X-Division Champion at Slammiversary this month, exclusively told Metro how a clash with Styles would be 'huge'. The pair met late last year when the former world champion was visiting TNA backstage in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. 'The fact that he took time out of his day to watch my match and be gracious enough to give me some feedback afterwards was huge for me,' Slater said. 'So I'm gonna say when, not if, when it happens. I'm gonna be ready for it, man, and it's gonna be fun. It's gonna be legendary.' Styles has been open about winding down his career, and yesterday Fightful reported he has signed a one-year extension with WWE, which is expected to be his final contract. While Slater was 'a bit too caught up in the moment' to float the idea of a match directly back in December, fellow Brit Trent Seven stepped up. 'I had Trent Seven by the side of me at the time. He was cheeky enough to mention it,' he laughed, before revealing Styles' reaction in the moment. He coyly teased: 'I don't really think he heard him. He was like, 'Yeah, that would be cool. That would be cool.' But I don't think he's too familiar with me – but he will be.' If Slater – who is billed from The 0121, Birmingham's area code – beats current X-Division Champion Moose on July 20, he will become the youngest person to ever hold the title. He acknowledged a 'huge dream match' with Styles is top of his list after the summer, given his history with the championship. 'To be a part of that lineage, and to be to have my name holding a conversation with people like AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe, Austin Aries – Frankie Kazarian is another one – is something very, very special,' he said. 'I'm trying to live forever in wrestling, I want to be remembered. And I think a match against AJ Styles, especially at the point that I'm in right now, would be another step towards that.' Despite Slater being so young, he's already a veteran of sorts, having started training aged nine, and growing up obsessed with wrestling. 'Everybody would either be like, 'Oh yeah, I'll go into bricklaying, I'll be a plumber, I'll go into electricity'. Or like, 'maybe I want to be a footballer,'' he recalled. 'But I was always like, 'he wants to be around to be a wrestler'. Everybody knows this, from like preschool to secondary school, 'he wants to be a wrestler.'' It wasn't easy, and Slater can still remember a moment in training during his very early teens when he was struggling with a 'running drill' complete with 'drop downs and leapfrogs and clotheslines and flow overs and all the rest of it'. One day, he just 'burst into tears' – immediately comforted by his pals – and it's amazing to see where he is seven years later, working with WWE 'idols' the Hardy Boyz and emulating their daredevil stunts. In April, Slater made waves on social media when he leaped off a giant 15-foot structure in an Ultimate X match, crashing to the floor at ringside when his opponents failed to catch him. 'I knew that's what I wanted to do. And then when we got there on the day, I realised it was a lot higher than I thought it would be,' he laughed. Despite online fury in the aftermath of the fall, which could have ended in disaster after his fellow wrestlers didn't soften the landing, Slater immediately showed Jeff Hardy the footage. 'I was like a kid in a candy shop, man. I get to run up to one of my idols and show him the clip of me trying to, like, emulate what he was doing 20 years ago,' he beamed. 'He was the first person I ran up to, and he was doing his paint at the time. 'What do you think?' He went, 'That's badass, man'. 'For me, that's for me, that means more than all of the online storm that was around it, whether people caught me or not, that moment right there was, was it made it for me.' Slater also leaned on viral wrestling star Joe Hendry for advice on how to navigate the social media maelstrom, describing the TNA – and occasional WWE – star as a 'big brother figure'. Thankfully, amidst his rise to the top, the young star a 'great team' supporting him from fellow wrestlers to family including his mum, sister and girlfriend. 'It's pretty daunting,' he admitted.
