Not just one, but multiple SUVs to be showcased by Mahindra on 15th August
While Mahindra has kept technical specifications under wraps, the Vision.S is expected to incorporate advanced features like a large touchscreen infotainment system and Level-2 ADAS technology, host of tech features and a panoramic sunroof, positioning it as a value proposition. While it is hard to guess what car the Vision.S is, the Vision.T has sparked speculation that it might preview the production-ready Thar.e, Mahindra's electric evolution of its iconic off-roader.
Mahindra Thar electric concept
Mahindra teased the upcoming Vision.T concept on June 30, revealing a bold silhouette that appears to evolve the rugged, boxy aesthetics of the Thar.e concept, first introduced in 2023. The teaser hints that Vision.T could be a more production-ready electric iteration of the iconic Thar, combining Mahindra's off-road heritage with advanced EV technology. Shared across various social media platforms, the teaser also hints at a new, adaptable platform called "Nu", which is expected to support multiple powertrain options. The teaser image highlights a bold, upright stance, echoing the Thar's muscular design. At Mahindra's upcoming Freedom_NU event, the Vision.T is likely to be a centerpiece alongside other concept vehicles and technological innovations. Design cues like the bonnet hinge and chunky tyres suggest that this model could indeed be the electric Thar.advertisementThe Thar.e itself features sharp, angular bodywork that balances futuristic styling with off-road prowess. It rides on large off-road tyres, features minimal overhangs, and boasts pronounced wheel arches. Compared to the current Thar, the Thar.e distinguishes itself with a five-door layout. Inside, the cabin adopts a clean, practical design with straight lines, integrated grab handles, a rotating display, and a clutter-free dashboard.Although still under development, Mahindra has disclosed that the Thar.e will have a wheelbase between 2,775mm and 2,975mm, with ground clearance ranging from 250mm to 300mm. The front overhang is expected to measure between 640mm and 680mm, while the rear will range from 640mm to 740mm. While full powertrain specifications remain under wraps, the Thar.e will feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, with identical motors on both axles. More details are expected as the production version nears its official debut.Stay tuned to Auto Today for August 15, when Mahindra will reveal the Vision.S, Vision.T, and the new platform.Subscribe to Auto Today Magazine- EndsTrending Reel

Mahindra plans Aussie growth after XUV 3XO launch, eyes top 15 carmaker rank by 2030
The Mahindra XUV 3XO was recently launched in Australia Check Offers The Mahindra XUV 3XO has been launched Australia, underscoring its renewed ambitions in one of the world's most competitive SUV markets. The compact SUV, unveiled in Victoria earlier this week, is expected to play a central role in reshaping the brand's image from a rural workhorse to a credible urban SUV contender. According to a report by Mahindra is aiming to break into Australia's Top 15 best-selling car brands by 2030—up from its current 32nd position. The XUV 3XO joins the mid-size XUV700 in Mahindra's local line-up and is positioned to compete in the light SUV segment, currently dominated by the Mazda CX-3. Executives expect the new model to become Mahindra's top-seller in the country and a catalyst for broader brand transformation. Also Read : Mahindra XUV 3XO launched in Australia, available in 2 variants Sevenfold growth and market expansion Mahindra's Australian operations have traditionally remained under the radar, largely due to the company not submitting data to industry-standard VFACTS reports. That changed at the XUV 3XO launch, where executives revealed that the brand sold 4,185 vehicles in the latest Indian financial year (April 2024 to March 2025). This marks a sevenfold increase over its 2022 performance and places Mahindra just behind brands like Chevrolet, Mini, and Skoda. Sachin Arolkar, Head of International Operations, said that while the 2030 target is ambitious, the more immediate goal is to break into the top five within specific segments. 'Being top in light SUVs is a step in the direction of being in the Top 15," he told 'Australia is a strategic market, and we believe we have the right formula for growth here." Rebranding from rural to urban appeal Mahindra is no stranger to the Australian market—it's been present for nearly 20 years—but until recently, its appeal was limited to commercial and rural buyers. Since 2021, the firm has been working actively to reposition itself for younger, urban customers. Neha Anand, Vice President and Head of the XUV brand, said in an interview with Drive that the change was a deliberate one. 'Earlier, Mahindra represented ruggedness and reliability. Today, we need to be tech-conscious, young, and attention-grabbing." Next steps in a competitive landscape Mahindra's Australian range is still modest for the time being. The Scorpio SUV, introduced in 2023, is put on the backburner temporarily because of impending safety regulations imposing autonomous emergency braking (AEB). The Pik-Up ute is out of showroom stands until a new model comes along in 2026, after government changes regarding side-impact crash protection. Still, the company remains optimistic. Arolkar emphasized that Mahindra isn't looking to copy established Japanese, Korean, or Chinese brands, but rather forge its own path. 'We're calling out our own nation in a calibrated way," he said. With a renewed strategy, modern products like the XUV 3XO, and a long-term vision, Mahindra is preparing for a new phase in Australia—one that could finally put it on the mainstream buyer's radar. The Tesla CEO conducted a poll on July 4 - US Independence Day asking X (formerly Twitter) users whether America Party should be formed. 'Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you want independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system! Should we create the America Party?,' he wrote in a Twitter post on July 4. Announcing the poll result in a post earlier today, Musk wrote: 'By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!'. Adding further, he said 'When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.' Musk first floated the idea to form a political party if the Trump administration's 'One Big Beautiful Bill' gets passed by the congress. With the latest post, he has made it official that he is indeed forming a new political party. However, it remains unclear if the party has been registered with the US election authorities.
