Prada Introduces Juicy ‘Banana Yellow' Lip Balm Inspired by Archive Fruit Motif

Yahoo25-06-2025
Prada Beauty is peeling back time with a new hydrating lip balm.
Inspired by the Italian fashion house's archive motif introduced in the spring 2011 collection, the luxury makeup, skin care and fragrance subsidiary has dropped its latest addition to the Prada Balm line: Banana Yellow. The introduction of the juicy lip product comes just a few weeks after Sabrina Carpenter teased its release in her 'Manchild' music video, which featured her parked in a desolate desert, snacking on Prada-stamped banana candies, now available for a limited time only.

Made with bifidus extract, jojoba oil and banana extract, the pastel yellow bullet, molded in the brand's heritage triangle, leaves lasting moisture and a delectable aftertaste, one that'll likely have you licking it off. The ease with which the formula glides across the lips is intended to mimic the sensory satisfaction of the nylon fabric on which Prada originally printed its whimsical banana design.
The finish is translucent like a sheer cloak for both the lips and the cheeks, and on top of that, the balm is said to have a 'glittering effect.' Think of ice fragments in a banana granita.
Prada Beauty launched its balm collection in 2023, the same year the company was created under The Prada Beauty Group in collaboration with L'Oréal, which took on the beauty licensee in 2021. The following year, the brand introduced its Prada Color Changing Lip Balm in Astral Pink, featuring Micro-Blushing Technology, which enables the pastel blue formula to adapt to the wearer's lip pH.
Prada Beauty has also expanded since its opening to include the Prada Light Highlighter, the Refine Blurring Extending Primer, the Reveal Skin-Optimizing Refillable Soft Matte Foundation, the Dimensions Multi-Effect Refillable Eyeshadow Palette, the Pradalines Gliding Waterproof Smudge-Proof Eye Pencil and the beloved Pradascope Lash Lifting & Lengthening Mascara. Carpenter's sultry visage in 'Manchild' was completed with all these products.
Sabrina Carpenter has collaborated with Prada Beauty in the past, boasting the brand's signature makeup items in her video extensions for 'Please, Please, Please' and 'Taste' last summer. Whether she's playing the doe-eyed ex-con in love with her jailmate or the vengeful ex out for his new lover, Carpenter proved to do it all in a face full of Prada makeup.

What's in Doechii's Bag? Emergency Heels, Instant Ramen, and Audre Lorde's Wisdom

It's not long after her defining Glastonbury headline performance that Vogue gets to catch up with Doechii and delve into her stuffed Louis Vuitton bag. 'Me and my team pushed ourselves harder than we ever have for that production and it came out (kiss) amazing,' she says. It's been a staccato-stepped, booked and busy year for the artis—from fashion weeks to her Met Gala debut and an international tour. Dressed in a sharp shouldered white blazer, glasses, and tie, Doechii gets down to the business of what's in her bag. The first thing to pop out of Doechii's LV? A small replica of a narrow Dutch canal-side house that she bought on a flight to the UK. She had been journaling recently about wanting more trinkets. 'I feel like it's a lost art,' she says. 'A lot of houses are into contemporary, minimalism, and we're losing the art of trinkets and items of memorabilia in the home.' The next item is, debatably, more practical—a pair of pointed, logo-stamped Prada heels. Emergencies, subways, bodegas: 'You have to have your Pradas,' she affirms. Out next is her ('heavy!') wallet and her grillz, custom made for the Met Gala 2025 to go with her impeccably tailored Louis Vuitton look, envisioned by Pharrell. The most grounding thing in Doechii's bag remains her journal. She's kept one since the fourth grade. 'I have to document my thoughts, and I have to have a release from my feelings,' she says. 'I've documented my entire coming of age experience and one day I want to make it into a book.' Her latest journal is a black leather embossed notebook where she's recently been writing poetry, as well as her thoughts, observations, and epiphanies from her mammoth tour schedule. While a lot of it is 'super raw, vulnerable writing,' she shares a small snippet: 'I have access to an unlimited supply,' she reads, 'reach out and take what you desire any time you like. God doesn't run out of blessings.' Also stashed in her bag is a book she's currently reading, the powerful 2017 collection of speeches, poems, and essays from the radical, generational author and poet Audre Lorde,Your Silence Will Not Protect You, released posthumously. 'The transformation of silence into language and action is an act of self revelation,' she reads from the book. That line, she says, 'encourages me to keep using my voice in my music and in my art, and when I have platforms, whether it be at award shows or whatever, I use my voice as much as possible to reach other Black women, the youth, to inspire people to make change and do things and say things and create things that benefit the collective.'
