Watch: Tejashwi Yadav ducks as drone crashes into podium at Waqf rally. What cops said
Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav was forced to momentarily duck for cover on Sunday when a drone came crashing down onto his podium during a political rally in Patna's Gandhi Maidan. The incident unfolded mid-speech as the former deputy chief minister addressed a crowd gathered for the 'Save Waqf, Save Constitution' protest, organised in opposition to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill.
Leaders from several opposition parties were present at the rally, many wearing black armbands to signal dissent against the legislation. The sudden drone crash sent a brief wave of panic across the stage, though Yadav quickly regained composure and continued his speech.
Speaking to news agency PTI, Patna SP (Central), Diksha assured that the matter is under investigation. 'We are looking into the incident. It was a restricted area and such an object should not have landed there. The police team was busy managing the crowd when the rally was underway. But the matter will be definitely investigated thoroughly.'

NDA govt is 'on its way out' in Bihar, claims Yadav
Using the platform to escalate political rhetoric, the RJD leader declared that the NDA government in Bihar was on its 'way out,' and vowed to repeal the controversial legislation if the Mahagathbandhan returns to power.
The leader of the Opposition in the state assembly said, 'Our national president Lalu Prasad has made it clear that the RJD will oppose this law tooth and nail. Our MPs opposed it in both Houses of Parliament. We have also moved the court against the legislation.'
'I would also ask my Muslim brethren in Bihar to remember that the NDA government is on its way out. In November, a new pro-poor government will be installed in the state and it will consign the Waqf Act to the dustbin,' PTI quoted Yadav, who is all set to lead the INDIA bloc in the state Assembly polls which are due later this year.
'The BJP, which rules the Centre and shares power in the state, must be reminded that Independence was won by the virtue of sacrifices made by Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians alike and nobody should behave as if the country is his father's property (kisi ke baap ka desh nahin hai),' he added.
'Be on your guard against the Election Commission's bid to help the BJP by holding a special intensive revision of the voters' list. We have to fight it out and thwart any conspiracy to deprive people of their right to vote.'

Health services in state are in ICU, says Akhilesh
Lucknow: Blood donation is the greatest gift, and by donating it voluntarily, we can help patients in need. It's good to donate blood on special occasions like a child's birthday, parents' anniversary, or your own wedding anniversary, said chief . Tired of too many ads? go ad free now He was speaking at a blood donation camp at KGMU on Monday, organised to mark his birthday on July 1. The camp was organised by members of the Maurya, Shakya, Kushwaha, and Saini communities, where 107 youth and party workers donated blood. Akhilesh praised the volunteers and called the event a true example of socialism and public service. Targeting the state govt, the former CM said, "Health services in Uttar Pradesh are in the ICU. Hospitals are in poor shape, and facilities exist only on paper. The poor are left to fend for themselves." He added that the medical infrastructure built during the SP govt is now being neglected. Praising KGMU, Yadav said the institution is among the most respected globally, with its doctors serving worldwide. "If the SP returns to power, we'll invest every possible resource to build world-class institutions and ensure the poor get proper treatment," he said. He also criticised the BJP-led govt over the state of business and industry, calling the situation an "economic emergency." He said that a major UP-based infrastructure firm was being sold, warning that privatisation is harming employment and economic growth. "If businesses thrive, jobs will grow, and the economy will strengthen," he said. On environmental issues, he alleged that the BJP failed to clean rivers despite large budgets. "They didn't clean rivers—they cleaned out the funds," he said, promising to beautify the Gomti riverfront and install a statue of freedom fighter Virangana Devi Paswan if the SP returns to power. He thanked the PDA (pichda, dalit, alpsankhyak) workers for organising the camp, urging that his birthday be celebrated as a day of service and social commitment.

Bihar Election: Hiding At Judge's House Saved This MP From Encounter During Lalu Yadav Rule
Last Updated: Prabhunath Singh, once a powerful Saran MP, remains influential in Bihar's political folklore despite his 2023 conviction for a 1995 murder As Bihar's political temperature soars ahead of the 2025 state Assembly elections, forgotten tales buried in the dust of time are resurfacing like bubbles in a monsoon pond. And once again, amid murmurs in village courtyards and loud debates at tea stalls, the name of Prabhunath Singh, the once-dreaded Saran MP, is echoing across the state landscape. Between 1990 and 2000, Prabhunath Singh wasn't merely a politician; he was a phenomenon. Revered as the 'Sher of Saran" and hailed as the 'Saviour of Rajputs", he commanded an iron grip over Rajput votes across Chhapra, Masrakh, Maharajganj, and Gopalganj. His word was law, and his endorsement was said to guarantee victory. Even stalwarts like Lalu Prasad Yadav, Nitish Kumar, and George Fernandes knew better than to ignore him. He was dubbed 'Chhapra's CM", an unofficial crown for a man who ruled not from the secretariat but from the streets. But there was a time when even the lion had to flee. A chilling tale from the 90s – part rumour, part oral folklore – continues to intrigue political Bihar. According to journalist Kanhaiya Bhelari, there was a moment when the state apparatus, allegedly on the orders of the Lalu Yadav regime, nearly orchestrated an encounter to eliminate Prabhunath Singh. The rift between Lalu and Prabhunath had widened, especially after the latter joined forces with another Rajput strongman, Anand Mohan, to float the Bihar People's Party. This move threatened to consolidate Rajput votes away from Lalu's core Yadav-Muslim base. As the story goes, one night intelligence chatter indicated that an 'encounter" was imminent. Prabhunath, sensing the gravity, took refuge in the house of a sitting judge. When the police convoy arrived, it reportedly turned back without firing a shot. No official records ever confirmed the plot, and no court ever ruled on it, but in Bihar's political folklore, this tale endures – half-truth, half-legend, fully unforgettable. Prabhunath Singh's hold over his community was absolute. 'If Prabhu gives the ticket, the result is a formality" – this adage defined his era. His name evoked awe and fear in equal measure. Weddings would hush, processions would reroute, and silence would descend on gatherings when his motorcade passed by. One such anecdote involves a wedding at an MLA flat in Patna. A loud commotion by the wedding procession was mistaken for a bomb blast. Panic spread, only to be replaced by nervous laughter. But the moment became emblematic of how the very mention of Prabhunath could stir alarm. In 2009, Singh found himself in hot water again; this time for publicly threatening an IAS officer with the chilling words, ' Kafan khareed lijiye, chunaav rokiyega toh… (Buy a shroud…)" in case the officer dared to interfere in the elections. The video of that moment went viral, reinforcing his persona as both satirist and strongman. And then came 2014. Defeated in the Lok Sabha polls, Prabhunath sneered, 'I'm not sad about losing. I am sad about losing to a goat…" It was vintage Prabhunath – biting, brutal, and never apologetic. Today, the once-feared Prabhunath languishes behind the high walls of Hazaribagh Central Jail. In 2023, the Supreme Court convicted him in the murder of Ashok Singh during the 1995 Masrakh elections, a case where he was initially acquitted before the judgment was overturned decades later. Though incarcerated, his political shadow still looms large. His brother, Kedar Nath Singh, serves as an MLA from Baniyapur. In 2024, his son Randhir Singh briefly made headlines for quitting the RJD and announcing an independent run, though he ultimately didn't contest. Yet in the current political churn of Bihar, even the silence of Prabhunath Singh speaks volumes. First Published: June 30, 2025, 20:35 IST

Bihar: BJP's Sanjay Jaiswal claims
Gaya (Bihar) [India], June 30 (ANI): As the political heat intensifies in Bihar ahead of the forthcoming Assembly polls, BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal claimed on Monday that 80% of people associated with Jan Suraaj Party are 'criminals'. Hitting back, Prashant Kishor questioned his intent, asking why they are not arresting these people despite being in power in both Bihar and the Centre. BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal said, 'Prashant Kishor doesn't care about people. A person who killed a Dalit community is holding a board in Bettiah claiming to be a candidate of Prashant Kishor's Bettiah Legislative Assembly. 80% of his associates are criminals... You can't expect a good party from such individuals.' Replying to this, Jan Suraaj Chief Prashant Kishor asked the ruling BJP and NDA government to nab those 'criminals'. 'His government is currently ruling Bihar, and the BJP-NDA has the government in Delhi. So why have they let all criminals free? They are putting on their face by claiming that all the criminals in Bihar are connected to Jan Suraaj. If that is the case, then what are you doing? Catch those criminals and put them in jail. Are you taking money from them so that they can stay in Jan Suraaj?' Kishor said. Bihar elections are expected to be held later this year, in October or November; however, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not announced an official date. While the NDA, comprising the BJP, JD(U), and LJP, will once again seek to continue its stint in Bihar, the INDIA bloc, comprising the RJD, Congress, and left parties, will aim to unseat Nitish Kumar. In the current Bihar Assembly, comprising 243 members, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) consists of 131 members, with the BJP having 80 MLAs, JD(U) having 45, HAM(S) having 4, and the support of 2 Independent Candidates. The Opposition's INDIA Bloc comprises 111 members, with the RJD leading with 77 MLAs, followed by the Congress with 19, the CPI(ML) with 11, the CPI(M) with 2, and the CPI with 2. (ANI)
