Speaking virtually at the inauguration of the 5th edition of the Mysuru Big Tech Show held at the Infosys campus, the minister said, "Mysuru is not just the cultural capital of India but is also emerging as a strong player in the country's technological landscape. With its robust ecosystem, talent pool, excellent connectivity, and the proactive support of industrial leaders, the city has immense potential for rapid acceleration in the tech sector.
"
Highlighting Mysuru's strategic advantage, Kharge noted, "It takes nearly the same time—around one-and-a-half hours—to travel from Kempegowda International Airport to Bengaluru's central business district as it does to reach Mysuru. Given this, Mysuru becomes an attractive destination for businesses looking beyond the crowded metropolitan hubs."
Quoting industry body Nasscom, he added that Mysuru is among the top three emerging cities in the country and was the second-largest IT exporter in Karnataka last year, recording exports worth Rs 5,700 crore.
"Over 50 national companies have not only considered Mysuru as an alternative to metro cities, but have also chosen it as a preferred destination. In the past year alone, 47 companies set up operations here, generating more than 4,500 direct jobs," he said.
Kharge also emphasised the city's growing reputation as a startup hub, saying Mysuru has become an encouraging space for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Sudhanva Dhananjaya, chairman and MD, Excelsoft Technologies, emphasised the city's growing stature as a hub for innovation and business.

"Large companies like L&T and Infosys believed in Mysuru and established their presence here," he said. "My core message is simple—we should all believe in Mysuru. It is the next big destination not only for technology-driven enterprises but also for a wide range of auxiliary businesses.
" Reflecting on his own journey, Sudhanva shared that Excelsoft was founded 25 years ago in Mysuru and witnessed the city's transformation first-hand.
"Startups and scale-ups are now thriving here, and that's the big shift I've observed over the years. This is the fourth edition of the tech show I've participated in, and the transformation is remarkable. Today, registration is overflowing," he noted.
Calling upon entrepreneurs and investors, he added, "As a stakeholder, I urge everyone to come to Mysuru, experience it, and grow with it. The city offers a conducive ecosystem, excellent work-life balance, remains green and serene, and the authorities are supportive.
Mysuru is poised to become a great city for business growth."
Pavan Ranga, CEO and managing director, Rangsons Aerospace, entrepreneur and industrialist, echoed similar sentiments. "Everything is possible in Mysuru. Our business exports to over 60 countries—all from this city," he said. Stressing the city's livability, he remarked, "When you evaluate Mysuru as a destination, consider the quality of life—it's unmatched.
You can leave home and be back in minutes. That's the essence of Mysuru.
We are here to support those who wish to explore and grow in this beautiful city."
Sanjeev Gupta, CEO, KDEM, Bhaskar Kalale, Startups and Innovation, Vinayak Hegde, IT, ITes, and GCC, Ekroop Caur, Secretary, Department of Electronics IT, BT and S&T, March Lamy, Consul General, Consulate General of France in Bangalore were also present.

'Criminals can't stay hidden forever': Piracy drained Rs 3,700 crore from Telugu cinema in 2024; industry urges action
The biggest threat facing the Telugu film industry today isn't competition or content fatigue—it's piracy, a silent predator that strikes at the industry's financial lifeline. Over the past decade, piracy is estimated to have drained over Rs 20,000 crore from the industry. In 2024 alone, while box office collections ranged between Rs 1,500 crore and Rs 2,000 crore, piracy inflicted losses of nearly Rs 3,700 crore, surpassing even theatrical earnings. With nearly 200 websites across the world illegally streaming Telugu films, the industry believes that only a robust legal crackdown, particularly on digital intermediaries, can curb this growing menace. 'These criminals can't stay hidden forever. If the law holds intermediaries accountable, the actual perpetrators can be identified and prosecuted,' said A Raj Kumar, head of the anti-piracy wing, Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC). However, tracking payments to intermediaries could unlock vital leads. 'If we go after the digital enablers, piracy can be stopped at its source,' Raj Kumar said. Legal pushback begins In a proactive legal move, a production house recently approached the Hyderabad commercial court ahead of a film's release on June 2, seeking to restrain rogue websites from uploading pirated versions. The court issued an interim order, barring all respondents from hosting, streaming, or communicating the film until July 25. The next hearing is scheduled for the same date. 'The public must also do its part. Watching pirated films may seem harmless, but it directly hurts the industry,' said KL Damodar Prasad, secretary, TFCC. 'Curbing piracy helps filmmakers reinvest and create more content,' he said. Underground market The rising quality of pirated prints is another troubling factor. Pirates now use high-end smartphones or camcorders, enhance footage using software, and produce near-watchable versions within hours of release. They are reportedly paid $500 for small films and up to $1,000 for big-budget releases.

Second-hand car prices in Delhi drop due to restrictions on end-of-life vehicles, says trade body
Prices of second-hand cars in the national capital have witnessed a sharp fall in recent days, with traders reporting a decline of 40 to 50 per cent, the Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) said on Friday. CTI Chairman Brijesh Goyal said the market for overage vehicles in Delhi has been severely affected, with nearly 60 lakh vehicles impacted by the sudden downturn. He attributed the price crash to restrictions related to End-of-Life (EOL) vehicles, which have crossed the permissible age limit for operation in Delhi. Goyal, who is also an automobile businessman, claimed that traders are being forced to sell cars at significantly lower prices. "In the last five days, the prices of second-hand cars have dropped by 40 to 50 per cent. Businessmen in Delhi are now compelled to sell vehicles at one-fourth of their original price," he said. He said that second-hand cars from Delhi are usually sold in Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. However, the demand from outside states is now accompanied by aggressive bargaining. "Luxury used cars that earlier fetched Rs six to seven lakh are now being sold for barely Rs four to five lakh. Buyers from other states are aware of the challenges faced by Delhi-based traders and are negotiating accordingly," Goyal said. He further added that over 1,000 traders in areas like Karol Bagh, Preet Vihar, Pitampura, and Moti Nagar are involved in the business of selling second-hand vehicles. Car dealers have also raised concerns over difficulties in obtaining the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Transport Department, which is required to sell used vehicles in other states. Earlier, the process was relatively smooth, but now traders say they are facing delays and complications. The Delhi government had banned fuel for end-of-life vehicles -- 10 years or older for diesel vehicles and 15 years or older for petrol vehicles -- that are deregistered and not allowed to ply on the roads from July 1, following a court order. However, on Thursday, the government requested the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to put the ban on hold with immediate effect, arguing that the fuel ban on overage vehicles is not feasible due to technological challenges.
