Chappell Roan Charts Her First No. 1 With An Unexpected Hit
Meanwhile, "Pink Pony Club" — featured on her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess — is still gaining momentum. The years-old tune has helped Roan reach a never-before-seen high on one radio tally, as it's become a surprise airplay hit.
"Pink Pony Club" gallops from No. 3 to No. 1 on the Adult Pop Airplay chart. The track earns Roan her first leader on Billboard's ranking of the compositions that rack up the largest total number of audience impressions across U.S. radio stations that play a more mature side of pop.
Throughout her career, Roan has sent 34 songs to the Adult Pop Airplay chart. Before "Pink Pony Club" arrived, only one of them, "Good Luck, Babe!," had cracked the top 10. That track stalled at No. 9 in September 2024. Her other hits, "Hot To Go!" (No. 11) and "The Giver" (No. 32), never quite made it to that uppermost tier.
"Pink Pony Club" currently appears on all three of Billboard's pop radio charts. It holds at No. 2 on the general Pop Airplay list, after previously dominating. At the same time, it steps up one spot on the Adult Contemporary roster, hitting a new peak of No. 17 in the process.
While "The Giver" was released earlier in 2025, "Pink Pony Club" originally dropped half a decade ago. The tune was shared by Roan before she had a major fanbase or had scored a breakout hit. Although it was included on The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, "Pink Pony Club" never earned true single status until Roan won the Grammy for Best New Artist. At the ceremony, she performed the cut, turning it into an overnight viral sensation.
True commercial success quickly followed. After a huge uptick in sales and streams, the track was promoted to radio, where it has found its footing and turned out to be one of the pop superstar's most successful releases.

WEAPONS Director Teases Secret Cast and Wild Twists - 'I Probably Shouldn't Even Say That' — GeekTyrant
Zach Cregger knows how to pull the rug out from under audiences. After Barbarian blindsided viewers with its unpredictable structure and grotesque surprises, Cregger's next horror outing, Weapons , is shaping up to be ambitious, and even more secretive. In a recent interview with SFX Magazine, the director teased what's coming in his next film, saying: 'I've got to be so careful about spoilers, but here's what I will say. This movie has more twists and turns than Barbarian, but what it doesn't do, very intentionally, is I never abandon the audience.' The marketing for Weapons , from its ominous teaser to the unsettling posters, has been intentionally cryptic. The story revolves around a small town where all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, leaving the town rattled and reaching for answers. But if you think the mystery ends there, think again. According to Cregger, what we've seen so far barely scratches the surface. 'There's a couple of names that aren't in the cast announcement, and there's a couple of [actors] that I think people have not realised what a big deal their characters will be. 'That's great, and I probably shouldn't even say that, but there are some actors that... it's amazing what they do… There are seven main characters in this movie and the trailer, we're leaning into two of those. But there are truly seven main characters.' Well, that's interesting! I also love the fact that what we've seen from the trailers gives us the bare minimum of what this movie entails, and I can't wait to see how this dark horror story unfolds. The announced cast already includes heavy hitters like Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, and Alden Ehrenreich, alongside Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan. But, Cregger is intentionally hiding sonme other major players. And just like with Barbarian, the trailer might be a masterclass in misdirection. Cregger explains: 'The engine of the children leaving is the engine of the whole movie, but the mystery is not the engine of the whole movie.' So there's a much larger narrative hiding beneath the surface. This movie is going to get really interesting! Weapons opens in theaters on August 8th, and if Cregger's words are any indication, this one's going to be a wild, secret-packed ride.

Legendary's STREET FIGHTER Movie Casts Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim — GeekTyrant
Legendary's live-action Street Fighter movie has added some serious martial arts credibility with the casting of Indian action star Vidyut Jammwal ( Commando ) as Dhalsim, according to Deadline. This marks Jammwal's Hollywood debut, and sources say he's been extremely selective about the project that would introduce him to U.S. audiences. Known for his intense action work and jaw-dropping fight choreography in India, the actor brings an authentic physicality to the role of Dhalsim, a fan-favorite character first introduced in Street Fighter II in 1991. Dhalsim is a yogi with the ability to breathe fire, a fundamentally peaceful man who fights only to support his family. Jammwal is already a massive star in India, with over 22 million followers on social media and a résumé that includes blockbuster franchises like Commando and Khuda Haafiz . While he's hugely popular internationally, this is his first step into the Hollywood spotlight. As previously revealed, the movie's ensemble is packed with talent, including: Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson as Balrog, Orville Peck as Vega, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Roman Reigns as Akuma, and Hirooki Goto as E. Honda The film is directed by Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip), with plot details still under wraps. Since its debut in 1987, Street Fighter has been a cultural phenomenon, selling over 55 million copies worldwide and standing as one of the most iconic fighting game franchises ever created. Legendary seems to be going all-in on bringing the colorful, diverse cast of fighters to life, and with Jammwal stepping in as Dhalsim, fans can expect some incredible on-screen combat. What do you think of this casting choice? Does Jammwal fit the role of Dhalsim?
