Police searching for driver in hit-and-run crash that killed bicyclist in Osceola County
Officials report that a newer model black Honda Accord (V1), which remains unidentified, was heading north in the inside lane of Pleasant Hill Road, while a Volkswagen Jetta (V2) was in the outside lane.
The bicyclist was in the center of the intersection as both vehicles, having a green light, approached.
The front of V1 struck the bicyclist, throwing him into the outside lane, where the left side of V2 then hit him.
The driver of V2 attempted to swerve to avoid the collision but was unable to do so.
The bicyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of V1 fled the scene northbound on Pleasant Hill Road. The driver and passenger of V2, who were uninjured, remained at the scene.
Authorities are seeking information about the crash and urge anyone with details to contact FHP at *347 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.

Florida man arrested for allegedly driving lawn mower drunk down busy highway
Drivers on a busy Florida highway were in for a surprise when police pulled over an intoxicated man behind the wheel — of a lawn mower. Calls began flooding into the Florida Highway Patrol of a man erratically driving a lawn mower down Suncoast Parkway at around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Fox 13 reported. A trooper then arrived on scene about 20 minutes later and found driver Christopher Spain, 38, sitting on the mower on the shoulder of the highway. Hernando County Jail The Florida Highway Patrol stated that the trooper immediately observed signs of impairment in Spain, including pinpoint pupils, flushed skin, a dry mouth, and irritation on the inside of his nose. The alleged drunk driver also kept sniffling, spitting and clearing his throat while talking with the officer. Advertisement The trooper then attempted to give him a field sobriety test multiple times, but Spain wasn't having it and became uncooperative after the third attempt. Spain was then arrested and charged with driving under the influence. He was booked into the Hernando County Jail and was released Friday afternoon on $500 bond, Fox 13 reported. Spain isn't the first Floridian to be charged with a DUI while operating a lawn mower. He then told the deputy that field sobriety tests wouldn't be necessary because he had been drinking before briefly trying to perform the exercises. In 2017, a Port St. Lucie Police officer arrested Kenneth Burton Alleshouse after he was pulled over while riding his red Snapper lawn mower down US Highway 1 while carrying a case of Budweiser beer. The officer who pulled over Alleshouse said they clearly detected the smell of alcohol while speaking with him. Authorities tested the suspect's blood alcohol level, and while they did not release the exact number, they did say it was three times above the legal limit. Alleshouse was arrested for DUI and taken to the St. Lucie County Jail. According to Florida law, a 'vehicle' is 'every device by which a person can be transported or drawn upon a highway,' including lawn mowers, golf carts, ATVs, and bicycles. In Florida, the legal blood alcohol limit is .08% for drivers operating any vehicle as defined by state law — including lawn mowers.

Suspected DUI driver arrested after deadly hit-and-run in Murrieta
A suspected DUI driver was arrested on Sunday after he allegedly struck and killed a woman before fleeing the scene in Murrieta. The crash happened at around 2:30 a.m. that morning on southbound lanes of the 215 Freeway near Murrieta Hot Springs Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. Police say that Gladys Cruz Maeda, a 44-year-old woman from Lake Elsinore, was driving along the freeway when she collided with a water-filled traffic attenuator barrel that was placed by crews to slow traffic through a construction zone. She exited her vehicle to inspect damage to her vehicle, a 2014 Nissan Murano, when the suspect struck her. He was driving a 2004 Honda Accord. Instead of stopping to help, the man fled from the area. Paramedics declared Maeda dead at the scene. Her passenger, an unidentified man, was uninjured in the incident. Later Sunday, CHP officers were able to obtain evidence that helped them identify the suspect. They served a warrant at his home that afternoon and took him into custody without further incident. The suspect, who they have not yet identified, was booked on suspicion of DUI gross vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run, CHP officers said.

Man arrested after driving 155 MPH on I-4: FHP
The Brief Officials said the man was clocked at 155 MPH in a 60 MPH zone on I-4. Troopers said he had three people in his vehicle at the time of his arrest. SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. - A 20-year-old man is in custody after troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol said he was going 155 miles per hour in a 60 MPH zone. Officials said the driver, Octavius Hunt, was caught in the early morning hours on Sunday in a Dodge Challenger on I-4 near Altamonte Springs. Troopers said he had three passengers in his vehicle at the time of his arrest. Hunt later told troopers he was only going 80 MPH and was on his way to a friend's house, according to officials. The man also will have his car impounded for 30 days, according troopers.
