Roope Hintz is hopeful for a Game 4 return as the Stars aim recovery
Roope Hintz was back on the ice Monday for an optional practice, giving Dallas Stars fans renewed hope. The center is working through a lower-body injury suffered in Game 2 after taking a slash from Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse.
Hintz left the game favoring his left leg and did not return, missing all of Game 3.
Hintz has been an essential part of Dallas' playoff run. With 11 points in 15 games, his presence on the ice adds not just offensive output but also energy and puck control. As one of the team's most consistent performers, his absence in Game 3 was evident in the Stars' lackluster showing.
Dallas needs Hintz to regain momentum

The Stars have hit their first major hurdle of the postseason, dropping two straight for the first time.
They've been outscored 9-1 in those games and are now behind 2-1 in the series. Without Hintz, the top lines have struggled to generate sustained pressure or capitalize on scoring chances.
Hintz's return would bring more than just statistics. His ability to drive play and support teammates defensively has made him a reliable two-way player. Reintegrating him into the lineup could help Dallas rediscover its rhythm and shift the momentum in this critical point of the Western Conference Final.

Hintz, now in his seventh NHL season, knows how to assess his body's readiness. He's approaching the situation cautiously, weighing the importance of his speed and skating strength against the discomfort still present. The team's medical staff will likely make a final assessment just before Game 4 begins.

Who's holding the Dallas Stars back? Matt Dumba, Tyler Seguin, and Ilya Lyubushkin might be their biggest liabilities
Matt Dumba (via Getty Images) The Dallas Stars, following another playoff-conscious season, now face important offseason choices that will determine their competitiveness going forward. With a top-heavy cap situation and dreams of still being contenders, the front office may have to say goodbye to those no longer delivering performance or value to the team. Names in question: Matt Dumba, Tyler Seguin, and Ilya Lyubushkin. Matt Dumba, Tyler Seguin, and Ilya Lyubushkin top the list of Dallas Stars players on cutting block Though all have contributed and brought experience in the past, their recent play and cap considerations may have the Dallas Stars making tough—but-necessary decisions. Veteran defenseman Matt Dumba was supposed to provide defensive solidity when the Dallas Stars signed him, but his time with the team has been generally disappointing. While a capable blue liner, Matt Dumba's performances have failed to have the desired effect for the Dallas Stars, and his salary may be difficult to justify for the Stars considering their cap outlook going into 2025. Matt Dumba's puck-handling skill and physical presence are still there, but with younger, cheaper defenseman poised to step up, his roster position is in no way guaranteed. The Stars could think about allowing him to leave or trading him in a move to relieve valuable cap space. Matt Dumba Discusses Favorite NHL Players Growing Up, All-Time Defenseman & Dallas Stars Another name that jumps out in this discussion is Ilya Lyubushkin. Picked up to strengthen the blue line depth, Ilya Lyubushkin's play in Dallas didn't impact the defense the way the team had hoped. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo A gritty, stay-at-home-type player, his presence was frequently limited, and in an era of salary caps, that just might not be sufficient. A former pillar of the Stars' attack, Seguin's goal-scoring has dried up precipitously. WATCH: Virat Kohli says tennis players face as much pressure as cricketers in 'India vs Pakistan' clash
Virat Kohli attends Wimbledon 2025 in London. (Source: X) Former India captain Virat Kohli is enjoying a quiet summed in England. After announcing his retirement from Test cricket in May this year, Kohli has been sitting on the sidelines while the Indian cricketers face off against England in a five-match Test series for the 'Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy'. Kohli along with wife Anushka Sharma and children Vamika and Akaay are currently in London since the end of the IPL 2025 season. Kohli's RCB ended a 18-year wait to finally win the IPL title this year. The RCB batter turned up at Wimbledon on Monday along with his Bollywood star wife Anushka Sharma to Novak Djokovic's Round of 16 match on the Centre Court against Australia's Alex de Minnaur. After the match Kohli spoke to Star Sports expert commentator and legendary Indian tennis player Vijay Amritraj. During the chat, Kohli said that tennis players face as much pressure in every single game what cricketers go through in a India vs Pakistan contest. 'I think the experience (in pressure situations) can be similar. But the intimidation factor and the pressure that would replicate for us in a World Cup game, a World Cup match between India and Pakistan or a semifinal or a final of the World Cup, your legs are shivering because of sheer pressure,' Kohli said during the interview telecast on 'Star Sports'. 'But these players might be facing that from the quarterfinal onwards to the final, which I think is a lot of pressure to handle. I have a lot of respect for tennis players for playing with that composure and maintaining that level of fitness and mental toughness,' said Kohli, who retired from Test cricket after 123 games. Kohli said cricketers go through their own challenges on field because of the ever-evolving nature of the sport. 'Different sports have different challenges. In cricket, one of the challenges is that you have to wait for a long period, you warm-up in the morning and then you come back and wait in the dressing room, as you don't know when you are going to bat,' he said. 'Sitting there, reading the game, the situation changes so drastically. Here (in tennis) probably you have set conditions, you know what you are walking into,' he added. Cricket offers less chances of a 'comeback', says Virat Kohli Former India skipper also feels that cricket offers less chances to stage a comeback into the match than tennis. 'One more challenge regarding my skills in cricket – batting – is that you have got only one chance. You don't have much chance to make a comeback, you make one mistake and you clap for the rest of the day. But these guys might be down two sets and a break, but still can come back and win,' he said. Virat Kohli backs Novak Djokovic to win Wimbledon 2025 Kohli is hoping that Serbian legend Novak Djokovic wins Wimbledon 2025 to complete a record 25th Grand Slam. 'I have been in touch with Novak (Djokovic) for a while now. We have exchanged a few messages and he has been gracious and kind to stay in touch.' Kohli also said his dream final would be between Djokovic and Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz, the two-time defending champion. 'I want Carlos (Alcaraz) and Novak in the final and probably Novak win the title because that would be tremendous for him at this stage of his career, and the whole conversation of being the greatest of all time, maximum number of Grand Slams and he deserves it,' he added.
