Richard Ashcroft announces huge tour update after 'nearly outshining Oasis'

Daily Mirror6 days ago
Liam Gallagher said it was never a question that Richard Ashcroft would be joining them on tour after their shared history
After embarking upon the biggest stadium tour of the year as special guest to Oasis, and selling out Manchester's Co-op Live, Richard Ashcroft today announces additional UK dates due to overwhelming demand. Richard will perform at arenas in Cardiff, Liverpool, London and Leeds in Spring 2026, with tickets on sale at 9.30am on Friday 1st August.

The announcement follows the news of the October 3rd release date of his brand new album Lovin' You - his first all-new album since 2018's Natural Rebel and follows 2021's Acoustic Hymns, Vol. 1.

Speaking on Radio 2 earlier this month Richard Ashcroft said: 'The album's due in September, just after I finish the dates with Oasis. That'll be coming out in September, and yeah, happy days, we'll see how it goes. I'm buzzing that I'm still here. I'm still making music, people pay me to make music, people pay me to sing live. It's like I can't complain.'

Ashcroft has won huge praise from fans after being picked to join Oasis on their huge sell-out Live 25 tour. Speaking after seeing the band play at Wembley Stadium, David Baddiel said the former Verve frontman gave the Gallaghers a run for their money when it came to entertaining the crowd. Noel has even been spotted watching Ashcroft's sets before walking on stage himself.
"Oasis were great tonight. But they were nearly outshone by their support, Richard Ashcroft, in incredible voice: still the Scott Walker of Britpop," Baddiel posted to X.

"Don't think Richard has ever done a bad show," replied one of his followers. "Magnificent," agreed another, while a third said: "It's the absolute dream lineup. Chris Martin said Richard Ashcroft had the best voice going around. Richard Ashcroft and Oasis playing in 2025. It's what the world needs some GOOD THINGS! I can't wait to see them in Australia. Magic. How special to be at Wembley. Brilliant."
Responding to Baddiel's video of Ashcroft singing The Drug's Don't Work, another X user replied: "This was a real moment in Manchester too. Something about that song still felt fresh / in the room as it were. The Oasis tunes being great, but definitely a stronger nostalgic tinge to them."
Richard Ashcroft and Oasis share a mutual admiration which dates back to touring together before Oasis first broke through. Richard is performing as special guest on all of their UK shows alongside band Cast.

Tell us: have you seen live music with your family recently?

Ahead of Oasis's reunion shows this year, you could certainly have expected to tick a lot of sights off your bingo card: bucket hats? Check. Wall-to-wall Adidas? Present and correct. Enough lager consumption to fill the Thames? Naturally. Perhaps less anticipated was the prevalence of families at these shows: multigenerational groups spanning from excited kids seeing their first big gigs to aunts, uncles and grandparents who could remember seeing the band back in the 90s. On the first night in Cardiff, one woman told us about attending a show in the city 31 years ago while she was pregnant with her son, now bringing along his own young daughter; another boy was celebrating his 10th birthday there with his dad, who saw the band with his own father when he was a teenager. There have been similar scenes at Pulp's big shows: when they performed to a hometown crowd at Sheffield's Tramlines last week, there was a noteworthy amount of kids word-perfect on their hits (including, entertainingly, Sorted for E's and Wizz). So, we'd like to know: have you been on any mass family outings to see live music recently? Who did you see and how did it go? What memories did the shows stir up? What was the significance of seeing them all together? And what did the kids think? You can share your experience of seeing live music with family using this form. Romeo Beckham spotted at Oasis gig with footballer as he risks telling off from dad

Wembley Stadium hosted Romeo Beckham and Manchester City player John Stones in its VIP section for Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher's latest Oasis reunion gig tonight The audience at Oasis ' latest concert at Wembley Stadium included Romeo Beckham tonight. He was spotted in the crowd at the venue in London beside a footballer who plays for a rival squad to David Beckham 's favourite team. ‌ Romeo, 22, has been spotted at the gig, which is the band's fourth performance at the stadium on the Oasis Live '25 tour, this evening. The model was seen alongside footballer John Stones, 31, in an exclusive section of the venue. ‌ He appeared to be in good spirits in photos that show him waiting for the reunited rock band to take to the stage earlier tonight. It comes after Wayne Rooney is banned from watching son, 15, play football for sad reason. ‌ The photos showed Romeo in the VIP area of Wembley Stadium, which welcomed a host of other celebrities last weekend. He was spotted beside Manchester City player John, who plays for England internationally, in the crowd. Romeo, who supports Arsenal, was seen smiling and talking whilst in the exclusive section, which is located on the lower level on the venue. He was seen speaking to John "at length" whilst they waited for Oasis to perform at the gig. ‌ His father David notably played for Manchester United for more than a decade instead. A life-long fan of the team, he's poked fun over being rivals with Man City, supporting by Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher, over the years. It included after he had watched the documentary Oasis Knebworth 1996, which was released in 2021. Alongside a photo of himself and pal Noel, football manager David wrote in a post on social media: "What a great film mate … Oasis at Knebworth 1996 … Absolutely loved it … Took me right back to the good old 90's when United were winning everything." ‌ David has himself been teased over his loyalty to United. As reported at the time, Romeo trolled his father in 2023 after the retired footballer's team lost 3-2 to Arsenal in a match at Emirates Stadium that they had both attended. Get Oasis updates straight to your WhatsApp! Alongside a post-match selfie showing them stood outside the stadium following his team's victory, Romeo wrote in a message to his father on Instagram at the time: "Sleep tight dad." David responded on the platform: "Whatever." ‌ David has previously spoken about Romeo not supporting United and reportedly once said that he was "disappointed" when he found out about his love of Arsenal. He's said that he let his children support who they want to though. Speaking to Shortlist in 2012, he said: "I tried to get Man United shirts on them early." David then confirmed that Romeo supports Arsenal and told the outlet that he believes it was prompted by attending one of their games once. David said that former manager Arsene Wenger treated Romeo "so well at the game," including having given him a personalised shirt. David, who said he had a similar experience with United growing up, added: "I let them support whoever they want. They don't have to support the teams I played for."

Friends outraged after Airbnb host cancels booking because of where they're from

Airbnb said they suspended the host and are now investigating the matter after pals Jemma Louise Gough, 38, and Jamie Lee Watkins, 37, were denied a stay in Manchester Two pals who booked a trip to Manchester for a concert were left "gobsmacked" after being denied an Airbnb stay simply because they were "from Wales". ‌ Jemma Louise Gough, 38, and Jamie Lee Watkins, 37, had been planning to travel from Cwmbran, South Wales, to see Australian music DJ Sonny Fodera perform at Co-op Live in November. But when they tried to book the one-night stay at a private property in the city, their reservation was abruptly declined. The pair, who wrote on the listing that they were coming 'from Wales to see the gig', were left baffled and politely messaged the host to ask why. The response came back bluntly: "Because you're from WALES." ‌ ‌ Jemma, a school support officer and mum-of-two, said the message left her stunned. "My mouth hit the floor – nothing else other than 'because you're from Wales'. It was nothing about us going to the concert or whatever, it was just discrimination of the country. We're amazing people, the Welsh are lush. I don't know what me and my friend - or the whole of Wales - did that's so horrible. It's absolutely horrendous." It comes after another Brit abroad slammed an all-inclusive hotel food, asking 'what on earth is this?' Jamie asked the host for further explanation as to why they'd had their booking rejected, saying it was 'discrimination under the Equality Act 2010'. She said her message was read, but received no response. Registered nurse Jamie, who attempted to make the booking through her account, said: "I just thought, 'oh my gosh, how can you say no just because I'm from Wales?'. Se added: "It was really blunt, just one line: because you are from, in capitals, Wales. What difference does that make? I was just a bit shocked really that people still say things like that. If [they] had said 'I don't want people going to concerts and coming back if they'd had a drink or something, I'd be like yeah, okay, that's fine. That's an explanation." An Airbnb spokesperson said: "Discrimination, including on the basis of nationality, has no place on Airbnb. As soon as this report was brought to our attention, we reached out to the guest to provide our support and suspended the host while we investigate this matter."
