Libya hosts Arab Planning Institute meeting in Tripoli
ThecMinistry of Planning hosted the second meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Planning Institute for the 2024–2025 term on Sunday in Tripoli, with participation from representatives of several Arab countries. The meeting, held at the ministry's headquarters in the capital, brought together delegates from Libya, Jordan, Djibouti, Somalia, Oman, Kuwait, Egypt, Mauritania, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco, along with officials from the institute itself. In his opening remarks, Libya's Minister of Planning, Mohamed Youssef Al-Zaydani, said the ministry's vision for the institute extended beyond regular meetings, aiming instead to strengthen its role as a leading Arab policy think tank supporting decision-making and sustainable development. 'We hope the institute will serve as a platform to turn challenges into opportunities, and ideas into tangible, entrepreneurial projects that meet the aspirations of our peoples,' said Al-Zaydani. 'Investment in knowledge must be our highest priority.' The minister also called for closer cooperation between the institute and relevant sectors to fund applied research and establish a regional Arab platform to connect experts and facilitate the exchange of knowledge in development planning. As part of those efforts, Al-Zaydani announced plans to launch an annual award to support planning research and promote innovation across the Arab region.
