Bollywood-themed nightclub in KL mall raided
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the raid, conducted by the Crime Investigation Division (D7) from the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters, involved six entertainment premises within the same building, where 95 individuals were inspected.
Eight people were arrested for offences under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for not possessing valid documents, and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 for working without a permit.
"The arrests involved seven men - three Bangladeshis, three Indians, and one Pakistani – as well as one Indonesian woman.
"All those arrested, aged between 28 and 43, were taken to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters for further action," he said.
Harian Metro, which followed the raid codenamed Op Noda at 2am, found at least one Bollywood-style entertainment venue on each floor of the six-storey building.
The nightclub is believed to be a popular spot among tourists, locals, and workers from Bangladesh and India.
The premises employed women from Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan as dancers dressed in saree to attract customers.
Malaysian women were also employed, reportedly earning RM200 per night.

Police warn of scams targeting SARA aid recipients in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have issued a warning about potential scams targeting recipients of the RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid. Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa urged the public to stay vigilant against syndicates posing as government officials to steal personal and banking details. Scammers often use fake messages, phishing links, or phone calls disguised as official communications. 'Once criminals obtain bank details, IC numbers, or OTP codes, they can drain victims' accounts unnoticed,' Rusdi said. While no SARA-linked scams have been reported yet, authorities anticipate increased fraudulent activity following the aid announcement. Rusdi advised the public to ignore unsolicited calls or messages claiming to verify eligibility for government aid. 'Only trust official channels like ministry websites for updates. Never share OTPs or click suspicious links,' he stressed. The RM100 one-off aid, announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on July 23, benefits Malaysians aged 18 and above via MyKad. The RM2 billion initiative supports 22 million people from August 31 to December 31, 2025. - Bernama

Scam alert: Police warn of syndicates targeting RM100 SARA aid, urge public not to share personal data
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 4 — The public has been urged to be cautious of scam syndicates which might take advantage of the RM100 assistance under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme, which was recently announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said authorities expect these syndicates to become active again, targeting the public to obtain personal and banking information under the guise of verifying aid eligibility. These syndicates typically impersonate government agency representatives by contacting victims through fake messages or phishing links that appear official, sent via SMS, WhatsApp, or phone calls. 'Once the criminals obtain details such as bank account numbers, identity card numbers or OTP codes, they will access the victim's account and transfer funds without the victim's knowledge,' he said when contacted today. Although no police reports have been received so far involving scams linked to the programme, the authorities take seriously the potential for exploitation by irresponsible parties targeting vulnerable groups. As such, Rusdi advised the public to remain vigilant and never share any personal or financial information with unknown individuals. 'Do not easily trust calls, messages, or links claiming to be from government agencies offering assistance. Never click on suspicious links or enter personal information on unverified websites,' he said. Rusdi added that all matters relating to government aid, such as the SARA programme, should only be referred through official channels, including ministry or agency websites managing the aid. 'The public is also advised to carefully check application terms, eligibility and implementation details before taking any action,' he said. He noted that a small mistake like sharing an OTP code could lead to losses, and urged the public to only seek accurate and updated information through official government portals or recognised mainstream media. On July 23, Anwar announced a one-off RM100 cash aid for all Malaysians aged 18 and above via their MyKad under the SARA programme, involving a RM2 billion allocation benefiting 22 million people. The assistance can be used from Aug 31 to Dec 31, 2025 and is aimed at easing the people's cost of living. — Bernama
